but I won't nitpick. This is one of those games that I spend all night playing, and then some. To get on idea of how much I love FF VI, I use it as a compasion to other RPGs. I view this as the best RPG I have ever played.
Sweet way to bring back V and VI

Final Fantasy Anthology is two disks, one being Final Fantasy V(5) and the other Final Fantasy VI(6, III(3) in US). Both of which were on the SNES. Final Fantasy V has a stronger meaning than VI (I believe) but isn't as fun to play because it isn't as fantasful as VI is. There isn't much else to say, except, rent it at Blockbuster before you buy it. You may start hitting yourself for spending 40 dollars on a game you may not like.
FINALLY, EVERYONE CAN ENJOY FFVI!

The release of FF anthology came as a surprise to me. I didn't even know the idea existed. Then I heard what games came in it, and I was out the door in a matter of seconds. I had a chance to play Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan) for the SNES and thought that this was the most impressive game I have ever played. I enjoyed the easy to understand magic system, the battle sequences, and (most of all) the awesome storyline that this game has. FF III was the first RPG that I played through and enjoyed it so much that I became an FF Fanatic. I've only played FFV part of the way, and so far its not to bad of a game. I especially enjoy the Job system. You can create sword wielding magic knights and monks that pack as much magic as they do a punch. When I finish this game, I'll create another review that says "FINALLY FINISHED (ENJOY!)".

Final Fantasy VI will always be one of the best RPGs of all time. Period. Final Fantasy V is OK, but it is nothing compared to it's predecessor. I wouldn't even compare Final Fantasy VI to Final Fantasy VII, and comparing it to Final Fantasy VIII is downright stupid. Well, there's my little input.
2 games in one what a deal :)

Final Fantasy Anthology contains both FFV and FFVI (final fantasy III US) I have beaten FFVI about 10 times or so, this game is really a classic, and is argueably one of the best RPGs ever, and it was certainly ahead of its time. This is a great game to buy as long as u are aware that they are SNES games.
The greatest game in history

Final Fantasy VI, aka III (as I knew it), is the single greatest video game ever produced. The character depth, the story, the humor and emotion, the side quests, the systems, the Villians and puzzles, and the cinematics - all perfection. I feel sorry for gamers too used to 3D graphics and such to appreciate this masterpiece. FFV is a throw away, but it beats watching soccer at 3AM, I guess.

First off, I'll warn you that this review concentrates on FF6 as I haven't finished FF5. But, from what I've played, I didn't like FF5 very much. The story doesen't seem as interesting or deep as its "sibling" FF6, and the battle music (oh that ungodly battle music) gave me a headache after a while (so ... cheerful), and the characters' abilities sucked. Overall, if I were to rate 5 alone, I would give somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. However, 5's clunky drawbacks were totally blown away by FF6's depth and grace.FF6 is an absolutely beautiful game. While the music quality isn't as great as those in 7 and 8, and the graphics are lacking by present standards, neither draws from the quality of the storyline and the characters. In "beautiful," I'm refering to the excellent story and the highly developed characters (well, except maybe Gogo and Umaro, but one's a sasquash and the other..uh...isn't really supposed to have a personality) where each character has a definate speciality (their abilities, ie: Tools, Morph, Blitz, Mime, etc.). Nearly each character (again except for the two hidden characters) has a history and personality, giving them not only existence, but also life and reason, something I feel is very important for any RPG.
Gameplay is NOT linear as players have a multitude of options in most events, and player are not limited to ONE lead character. Yes, Terra is usually thought of as the main character, but in fact, each character plays an equally vital role as without their help, Terra would never have been able to contribute anything to victory over Kefka--realistically, no one can destroy someone like Kefka w/o the help of friends. Some people may feel that this makes a "main" character weak, but I think this gives the characters human attributes and the game a realistic flavor, both of which I respect and value in an RPG.
The storyline, however, may be difficult for younger players to fully understand as it deals with more mature topics such as total destruction (possibly genicide, tho probably n), teenage pregnancy, love (not puppylove or infatuation, but "real" love), absolute trust in friends, and so on--yet I think it's this quality that makes it such a great game. Let me clarify, however, that 6 is not a dead serious game totally devoid of humor (that wouldn't be very uninteresting); the occassional sarcastic remarks and playful attitudes of the characters helps to lighten 6's atmosphere while continuing to deepen the character's personality.
Before I close my remarks, I must reiterate: don't let the dated graphics discourage you as it did for me in the beginning-you'll soon forget that you're manipulating sprites (that have an uncanny ability of effectively displaying expressions) and not polygons. While the FMV's in the Anthology release perhaps adds inematics to certain scenes (and buffs the game up in aesthetics), the story itself is priceless. I totally recommend 6--worth every fraction of a cent of the price, and more.
Not the best, but worth buying.

Final Fantasy Anthology, which contains both FFV and FFVI, is certainly worth buying. If you're expecting the graphics or fluid dialogue of the playstation FF games, though, you'll be disappointed. FFV is one of the weakest games in the series, particularly contrasted with FFIV and FFVI. In terms of graphics, story, and character development, FFV isn't much fun. The job class system, however, is unique, and if you're a hard-core FF fan, you might want to check this game out. FFVI, on the other hand, is a masterpiece limited only by the SNES level graphics and extremely slow loading time. Though the story, characters, and general gameplay are probably one of the best in the series, it takes forever and a day to load the menu or a battle. One caveat: FFV does not work correctly on the PS2. The saving screen glitches when loaded. Other than that, I'm not aware of any bugs.

One day I was renting a game. It had a strange little man holding a sword. I got home and inputed the game in to my snes. Next thing I know I was lost in the realm of FFIII now FFVI. It is still one of the best FF ever. Any true RPG player knows gaphics don't make the game (As seen in FFVIII). I have surched every where for FFIII. I even had it in my grasp once buy another fan got it right before I can. I was thrilled they rerelised it, and hope they do so for years to come. May even a revised version Same characters and all just redone with newer gaphics....Maybe.

I am a big FF fan. Ever since I played the first FF on Nintendo, I've like it. I really enjoy watching the graphics and sounds improve in every episode.
