This was an ok game (or should i say, games), but I didn't find it nearly as addictive as the other final fantasies i've played. FFV was an ok addition to the series but the dialogue is awkward (They didn't do a fantastic job translating on V or VI) and the gameplay is more like a standard RPG than the final fantasy style. Buy it if you're really into the FF series, but if you're just starting out, get FFVII first.

Anthology is a great buy, ilike it cause it's got one of my favorite games ever, FF6! Truly a sweet game but lacking a little creativity when it came to some of the characters, it is a game worth buying. Now FF5, well thats a toughie i think its a decent game but my friends seem to think other wise cause of the pretty sad character design and graphicalization. The music cd is really not worth square's money, i mean.... come on, music that sounds like beep...beep...beep....beeep? yeah, you get my point......

Japan's FFV & FFVI (aka USA's FFIII)

First of all I'm going to talk about the better of the 2, Japan's FFVI (aka USA's FFIII). Aside from USA's FFII, this is the best Final Fantasy ever! This game was first released in the USA for the SNES console. Even then the music in this game was comparable to that of games played on the PSX, the 32-bit Sony system. The graphics are also great, 3-dimensional. Besides that the story is awesome and the game will keep you busy for awhile. It's a long one! There's so many twists and turns and things you can do in this game that it's almost unbelievable. It's a wonder why I didn't choose this one to be #1 instead of FFII. I guess it's because in my mind FFII is the one that started the greatness of the FF series. Since FFII, the FF series has had a great story and the graphics started looking pretty good. Not to bag on FFI, but the story was rather weak and besides, it was on the 8-bit Nintendo system. If you have been let down by any Final Fantasy you've ever played, this is the one to play. There's so many different characters you can get in this game as well, but you have to know how to get them. My favorite is the Ninja, because he has a mind of his own, and you never know what he's going to say or do.
My second topic is Japan's FFV. The only reason I gave FF Anthology 4 stars is due to the greatness of FFVI. This FFV game though... in a word... sucks. It's the worst FF game I have ever played. The enemies are too difficult. They give you too many character jobs. And finally, the game is just boring. The graphics aren't any better than USA's FFII if not worse. To me this game is like FF Tactics crossed with FFII. I don't own this game anymore due to the fact that I already have FFIII for the SNES console. If you don't have an SNES or can't get your hands on FFIII, then this game is a definite must just to play FFVI.
The unfortunate American market

I am not giving 5 stars to this game simply on the principle that, after waiting eagerly for it to be released in America, I was disappointed to find they had not bothered to include FF4 like they had done in the original Japanese release. (FF2 for the American crowd out there... oh and btw, this is for the person who said that it was weird for them to rename FF3 to FF6, there _was_ 6 Final Fantasy titles in Japan before the widely known 7 and now 8, they were just not all translated because of the lack of market in the US)
These games are amazing, if only for the nostalgic who can now indulge in the luscious CG added for the re-release.

This is a very good game. I wasn't disappointed. Graphics don't mean a thing to me. Storyline and gameplay does. Although they should have added ff4 to this game. Both games are good but ff5 advances to fast. After 10 minutes of playing your trying to save the world! FF6 has a very good storyline and the gameplay makes it unique from other Final Fantasys. Espers are a preety good idea except that you can only use them once in a battle. Both of these games are unique in their own way.
not bad...

Well.. i had these games a long time ago and wanted them again because i never beat 5 and i really love FF6.
Product came within a week even though it sais it might take longer it got here faster then i thought.. so definately faster shipping options are not worth it if you ask me, well, for this kind of purchase anyways. It came in perfect condition though! Was kinda hoping it wouldn't be greatest hits edition, however it and all the other copies i bought of the FF series through amazon were.
Nostalgic fun. If you loved the FF series get this game.

Nostalgic fun. If you loved the FF series get this game. For people that never played the FF series nows the time. Get into the game with basic RPG elements that are showed in this game. Many people that have played other grand RPG's Such as FF7, FF8, Suikoden know what im talking about. All summed up I have to say is GET this GAME!

Check this. I was a wee disapointed with the story for FinalFantasy VII. I mean, compared to VI (America's III) it was bunk! FinalFantasy III is probably the only reason I didn't get any dates throughout my sophomore year of high school. END
Good old games.

Its a really good set of games. I enjoyed FF3 when it came out the first time in the US and having it for a betters system than my old SNES is great. As for FF5, its good to see they came out with it. I was hoping they would bring out some of the other old Japanese FF's, but apparently FF5 is it. Oh well. Wishful thinking on my part. :)
