Great Driving Game!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 4

Definitely a great driving game! Passing the initial garage test is very difficult, but once you make it through, you'll have fun. You receive different assignments, and can choose between two or three options after you complete each one. If you like driving games, this one offers more excitement than "the same old tracks" and is a game you can go back to and enjoy after you've beaten it.

The driver test at the start [lacks]

OK, I'm in my 30's, so my reactions aren't upto a teenagers, but I've been playing games since Atari 2600's. To play the main game in Driver, you need to complete a skills test in a car park (think of the film Taxi Driver, but without Jodie Foster).

Well, this Dad couldn't do it, despite some hints and tips I got off a few sites. This means that I've never played most of this game, even though the bits I can access look and play great. Result: I bought Colin Mcrae Rally, and won't buy Driver 2 unless you can get round any test they have.

If you're a fan of Bullett, you'll love this game though.

Very Fun Game However.........

Great game however after a while did get a little boring, driving the same car on the same street almost. NYC was tough for me, that's the last city you have to get through. Was hooked for a month on getting there. Can't wait to see what Driver 2 will look like...!

Definately a challenge

I love this game. It's not easy at all though. This game will have you playing until your hands are stiff and aching.

You can't stop playing!

Man this was the best driving game i've ever played.I mean, yes this game was the bomb! If you don't have a memory card you better get one. Even if you beat it, you should find the codes and play all the stages again with them. the only thing that I might change is the driving test at the beginning. I had to ask my friend how to do some of the moves.Other wise you should buy it.

THE BEST GAME

Great Game, Hard To Get Started

I like this game, but it is hard to get started! No game should start out with a "drivers test". The test is not an easy one, and a person should be allowed to get into the game, without having to prove they can! This is where I have problems with this game. What, you are allowed to play, such as car chases etc. is pretty fun and sort of realistic! I think a person should be allowed to just play the game, and not have to prove that they are allowed to!!!! I'm sure, some people reading this will scoff and say that I am not a good gamer, but I've been playing video games for 16 years, and never have had a hard time starting a game like this one! If there is some shortcut to starting this game (like a code), I've never seen one listed! Anyone who has, please contact my at dean1949@email.com

worthless waste of money

I bought this game for a present because I thought my brother would enjoy it. I wanted to try it too, because I fell for the marketing hype (including tainted reviews in magazines that act in the interests of their advertisers instead of their readers). I also wanted to cruise around San Francisco.

My brother didn't like it, and he gave it to my neices. They said it was too hard for them. I laughed, borrowed it from them, and it ended up being a waste of time. I'm sorry I bought it in the first place.

Why, might you ask? You are REQUIRED to pass a very difficult driving test before you can do anything else with the game. The test consists of some maneuvers that require a lot of skill, and even if you are able to do each one of them, you have to do them in so little time that it is nearly impossible to pass. There is no cheat code to get around it, and you can't even go for a leisurely cruise through the cities without passing this lousy test. So for me, anyway, it makes the game useless and a useless game is a worthless game unless you enjoy getting frustrated.

I have Driver 2, and recommend that instead. At least you can play the game without having to pass a stupid test. It's difficult, so you might not play well at first, but at least you can do *something* with it. Don't get me wrong, though: Driver 2 is far from easy and the level of difficulty can be frustrating at times. At least it isn't as worthless as this piece of junk.

You can get plenty of useless CDs in the mail for free. Why pay for one?

Racism is NOT fun!

Ok, this is good game in the gameplay part, driving around trying to accomplish your goals (though I don't condone the Fox TV-like glorification of escaping from law enforcement officers), but I returned this game after one to many of the inbetween scenes. How much making fun of minorities can you stand? I thought this kind of humor was better left to Borchtbelt comedians from the '50's. Hopefully the sequels will rectify this mistake. An apology would be nice too.

More Muslecar games

Well, basically if you read this entry i won't bore you with exactly what goes on in the game ( i believe the other reviewer's interpretations and Amazon.com's review is accurate enough). basically i would like to comment on 2 things... 1....this is a game that other developers should follow. in the sense that i am i tired of racing games that don't allow u to have a muslecar.. test drive was ok, but the fact is....the car were boxy and ugly and it was just bad...no free-roaming the cities like you can in driver. that's what sets driver apart..the fact that u can drive around wherever the hell you want without contending with tracks. we need more games like this but with more licensed musclecars....charger, mustang, gto, roadrunner, cougar...etc. have a game like that and i would be in heaven and 2. this is just a question but on the back of the box, one of the screenshots shows a yellow musclecar in the streets of miami. i have played the game exhaustedly and i still haven't found it...anyone want to write and tell me where i have to to get that car? thanks. and get the game if u haven't already
