Quite possibly the most inventive game in history

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 4 / 5

THis is the most creative game of history. You control the sims lives. It's great cause you can totally screw their lives up if your so suited. Or you can propell them to unprecented fame. You even build their houses. You can torment them as much as your mind wishes. but the best feature is the create-a-sim, which allows you make a sim. You can make yourself and your friends or just bs it. This is a fun game that is a great source of entertainment. The only reason it didn't get five stars is cuz it can and does get old. But that's what the expansion pack(s) are for. I suggest you buy the sims wait a few months then buy the expansion packs.

Dangerous, Addictive, Fun

The Sims is an awesome game, especially when running on an 867 MHz G4! This game allows you to control the lives of a number of Sims and direct their daily interactions down to very minute detail. Albeit, the play can get tedious and frustrating sometimes, but so life goes, real or Sim. I find myself always looking forward to witnessing the fruits of the decisions I have my Sims make. With the expansion packs, most available or soon to be available for the Macintosh, the depth of the game should be increased even more. This is a really great game and you'll have hours and hours of fun. I call it dangerous because I'm a college student and I'll have to keep myself from playing it at all lest I start and wind up quitting 16 hours later when I can't keep my eyes open any longer. Definitely a must have, especially for the Macintosh.

Depressing game

Yes, the Sims can be pretty addictive. You're trapped in suburbia, with all the daily concerns that go with that: you have to remember to take the trash out, go to work, clear up, take a shower, network with the neighbours, and pee. It's impossible, once you've created these people, not to mind what happens to them -- I felt pretty awful when they threatened to take my Sims baby into care. But on another level, it all seems deeply trivial. In that sense, it's like the worst of real life -- not really what I want from a fantasy game. I like games which have a bit of glamour, and which offer me the chance of something I don't have in real life -- like World Domination, for instance. I'm also too ambitious for the purposelessness of the Sims: I want to be able to make progress and eventually win -- there's no such thing as winning in this game. If the idea of controlling people on the most microscopic level is enough for you, you may find the Sims fun. If you want to control people, but you also want to dream of a different kind of life, and if you're interested in politics and town planning as well as the domestic/suburban idyll, you're better off with Age of Empires, Caesar III (if only they made Caesar IV), Tropico, or Civilization.

Too Addictive, but Great.

This game is great, except that it is addictive. I even found myself day-dreaming about this game during class. This game works great in MacOS X. If you are looking for a game for yourself or your kids, that is safe, I would check out this one. It is expandable with the add-on packs as well.

Magic little people in your computer...

I was introduced to the Sims about 4 months ago and I haven't spent much time away from my computer since. The game is addictive and absolutly engaging. Tims passes without you even noticing.

Pros:
-You can create many different characters and dress them in lots of cool clothing.

-You get to build houses and decorate them any way you choose.

-There is the option of having your Sims think for themselves or have you make decisions for them.

-You can create little scenarios, soap operas in the Neighborhood, for example have the loving housewife have torrid affairs with all her neighbors, oh what trouble you can cause...hehehe

Cons:
-Time slips by in the REAL world very quickly...you might miss going to work.

-The characters you create become so realistic that you might not remember which is reality...:o)

-HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!

Well, most of those aren't really cons...but still. This game is wonderful and a great way to chill out for a few hours. Gameplay continues for as long as you want it to, and it doesn't get boring!

Perhaps the best game ever!

If you have ever wanted to be God, then this is for you. It is totally amazing! What a unique concept: being in control of virtual people! And just like SimCity, this game can be incredibly habit-forming; you will literally catch yourself thinking about this game and game strategies even when you're away from it. Kudos to the designers of this game.

Impressive graphics, hilarious situations, it is definitely a must have. You must, I repeat, MUST get this game!

Great Game...Gets Boring

Let me start off by saying that this is the most unique game I have ever played! I never had so much fun just living life before. Thats basically what you do- live your life. You control all the sims that are in your household and you command them to do stuff [Eat, Go to bathroom, swim in pool, etc.]. You can buy new items from your house when your SIms start making money, and you can also expand your house [add a second floor]. How do you make money? Get a job! You can work as a Doctor, Entertainer, Stunt Performer, and a few more. Different jobs have different shifts, salaries, and promotions. To get a promations, certain standards are needed. If you are a waiter or waitress, you must reed up on cooking to get a promotion. Very Realistic!

So why did I only rate 3 Stars...Well after a while the game gets boring. The first month you'll love the game, by the end of the second month you will forget about it. There are so little items, carrers to choose from in this version of the sims...An expansion pack is desperately needed. THey make the game A LOT more fun. So if you are thinking about getting into the Sims series, buy an exapnsion along with the regular version of the sims...trust me!

Why my husband want to break this game disk!

I love this game, you can get addicted easily. When I am in bed playing it at 3am on my laptop, it is in danger of being tossed by my spouse. But I am having a great time. Just remember to save the game when things are going well, so that you can back up when they lose their jobs. And buy fire and burgler alarms.

A truly great game

I have had this game for over 4 weeks and I can honestly say that this game is very addictive. I have had to remove the game from my home office so that I can still call it a home office.

The reason it seems to be so addictive is that it is virtually limitless. You determine the personality of the Sim, you design the house, you decide which furniture will go where in the house, you plant trees outside, build pools, interact with neighbors. The list goes on and on. And now there are several websites devoted to the Mac version of the Sims where you can download even more stuff. Will it ever end? I hope not.

Buy the game. It will save you money in the long run because you will probably never buy another game and you may not go out all that much.

Very Fun
