This is a great game and is VERY addicting. There is 5 neighborhoods, and 8 lots per neighborhood, this means you can have up to 40 houses at one time! You can evict and/or bulldoze house as you wish, so you don't have to use the same house/family all the time. You start off w/ $20,000 and live your life. You can have somone move in, get married, have kids, etc. Babies grow into children, but children do not grow up. Nobody dies EXEPT by fires, electrocution, starvation, or drowning in a pool (this only happens if you take out the ladders.)

PROS
They live forever so you can play forever
There are cheats
You can have somone move in or get married
Easy to play

CONS
The kids dont grow up
They dont die naturally (even though the opposite is above it does stink!)
Fires spread easily
Without free will on it is hard to manage
Promotions are HARD (the last few)

***CHEATS***
DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT THESE!!!

To get the cheat box up press Ctrl+Shift+C

1.) rosebud
gets you 1000 simolians
-or- to get more money repet ;!;!;!; after rosebud

2.) move_objects on
you can pick up ANYTHING and move or delete. You can delete people and then click on there icon and there mood will be up, or delete floods or roaches!

3.) water_tool

Are you looking for a good christmas gift for your chldren grandchildren? Look no further than the sims. In the Sims you start off by creating a family of one to eight members. Then you must build or by a house with the limmited money you have. The characters must then buy the needed applainces for your family (or just cool unneededthings.) with money you get from work. Actually there are no uneeded applainces. For instance a basketball net may sem like an unneeded item however, what if your job is a pro athlete you will need this item to get promoted. You also must be happy to get promoted in any job so items like a tv can help. You don't need to have only one family, you can build about 8. (and more with the expansion.) You can even control what the characters do and get married and have kids. However, I wouldn't recomend this game to children under 8 because it deals with some Mature themes like sex and nudity, but these scenes are never very graphic and also edited. This is also a great gift for adults too, it is very fun.

The Sim in the Mirror

Yes, this game is wonderful to look at, and the music and voices (and, in fact, all of the little things) are funny and imaginative. I was swept away when I first viewed the game. Still, I must say that I have been bored, bored, bored by the tedia surrounding my Sims' lives. Sure, blame it on me. Maybe I could do more to get my favorite Sim, Winkie Waddle, into situations and relationships that would lift his spirits more. But when you look at the boundaries this game puts on Sim lives, it starts to look like SimPenitentiary. Paying bills, taking out garbage, peeing, etc. are funny extras the first couple times you play. But aside from BUYING THINGS and REARRANGING THINGS, there's nothing else to do here. Unfortunately, the game reinforces the empty consumerism at the heart of our culture. So much so, that when Winkie finally finds some solace playing games on his computer, I'm creepily awakened to my own isolation. Too often, the game provides eerie echoes of the dullest parts of my own life. Fascinating in its simulacral detail? Yes. Fun to play? I'm not so sure.

Any number of things can go wrong (or right) with your Sims. The way you treat them leads them to greatness or poorness. I especially like the life of crime feature with the Sims--you can do just about anything! I'm very glad that someone released it for Mac.

I like it. On some reviews, I read that's this game is really good and addicting. I don't know about addicting, but I do like it. I like this game because it's like the game of life. You have to get to work on time (a car picks you up), keep your sims healthy, etc. In the beginning, you go through a tutorial to get to know the game. After the tutorial, you can create your own sims, then let them live in a house, and control them. In the beginning, there are 3 pre-built houses, and 1 lot where you can build your own house. Don't worry though. You can destroy a house if you don't like it and want to build one on your own. You can also delete a family if you want. Like I said, you're in control!

I dont know if other reviews have this code. If you want more money (who doesn't?), then after you pick a family and a house, during gameplay, press and hold down Shift-Command-C, type in "Rosebud" in the grey box on the top left-hand corner, then type in !;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!; until the grey box is full. Then press return. I don't know how many simoleans you earn (simoleans are what people call money), but it's a lot. Repeat the process for as long as you want. I think I saw somewhere that earning too much money is a bad thing, but I may be wrong. You never know.

the best simulated game ever!

The Sims is one of my favorite games that I've ever played. You control their every movement, and the fate of their lives. I also like this game, because it allows you to be more flexible that you are in the previous "sim" games. I like the funny actions, results, and the ways of life for the sims, which is why I give it a 5 star rating.

the sims is a very addictive game, i have only had it for a couple of days, and i can't keep my hands off it. it is all the sim games combined, not only can you create a family, and control their every move, but you can build their (or your) dream house, either by just furnishing an existing house, or build one from scratch, using the awesome architectural tool. though all the controls may seem a bit confusing at first, they are really very simple to master. overall, i'd say that the sims is a very worthwhile game to buy.

AND I THOUGHT COCAINE WAS ADDICTING!

The Sims puts the entire human experience in one box. The cooking, the women, the jobs, the fires, it's all here. I've played many games in my lifetime, including several Maxis games, but The Sims is by far the best game I have played in my life. I start playing for a few minutes and I'm hooked; I need to get another promotion, I want to get married, I want to have a baby. I love this game and so will you, I promise.

I sit here at work thinking about the people I created last night.. and I moved a family into a beautiful new home except they could barely afford a sink. In fact, for a day, they didn't even have a sink. And they were pretty angry about that too. This game is insanely addictive. As my interest begins to wane I'll surely purchase the expansion pack. I can't believe I haven't called to work "sick" just so I can play. As for memory concerns: I had 128 on my iBook, but had faulty memory and had to be dropped down to 64... I'm probably a unique user to have gone down instead of up. I definitely notice a difference. You *can* play this game with 64, but 128 is certainly better. You don't have as many 'freezes'. One tip-- when you call a friend over, take a nap while you wait for him/her to arrive. Dipping energy level usually strikes just as you're about to make a family friend (annoying).... I highly recommend for those who don't care for action games (like me) but prefer strategy.
