Better over time

This really is a great game. When it first came out, I was burned out on real-time strategy games, having played Warcraft 2 to death. I played the first 15 Starcraft missions, then gave up on it. Partly, my nerves were shot: RTS does that to it. It's a very frenetic type of game, with lots of rapid clicking, scrolling around on the map, trying to keep it all under control. You have to hold a lot of stuff in your short term memory, and (in the harder levels) the constant onslaught of enemy attacks tends to make you forget what you were trying to do. --This is one down side of RTS games in general, and Starcraft is no exception in this regard.

A month ago, I picked Starcraft up again, and I've been playing it ever since. Although I still like the fantasy setting of Warcraft better, Starcraft really is a fun game. Each of the 3 races has its own character, and there are a *lot* of units, upgrades, special abilities, and compinations / permutations to make becoming and expert in the game a huge challenge. This is definitely a game you can sink your teeth into and get your money's worth out of.

Favorite StarCraft unit: The Siege RV

Believe the hype.

No game is flawless, and certain games don't fit certain players style, but StarCraft is obviously such a work of careful balance and craftsmanship that its creators still enjoy phenomenal sales more than three years after its release.

You don't need a souped up system to play StarCraft -- just about any PC made in the last five years can run it. They say the art of film-making involves the creative use of limited resources -- this is even more so with video games. Without straining your system, StarCraft delivers a game with a mostly intuitive interface, cleverly designed scenarios, and a storyline delivered with far more artistry and skill than any computer gamer can expect (though some of the voice actors seem to be mumbling here and there).

Bonus: it's been around for so long that you can get it at bargain prices. Blizzard may not still be cranking new maps out for it, but the game is still very much a supported product with a huge internet community.

I am a huge fan of stradegy games. However a lot of stradegy games loose there fun after a while because you have mastered it and nothing changes. This game is different. In addition to regular gameplay and missions you can play online for against other people play. There is also games called map settings games. this is why it never gets boring. People are always making map settings games that have nothing to do with the accual starcraft game. Anything from SCV football to snipers, these can all be made and played online againsed other players, and since new and different maps are being made all the time, it never gets boring. Definetly a good game for any gaming fan.

The Real Time Strategy Revolution

When this was in production the critics were calling it Warcraft In Space. When it came out people were singing a different tune. It would become the most revolutionary game in Real Time Strategy. Each race had seperate characteristics, the storyline was better than decent, and RTS became a professional gamers realm. The single player missions were a lot of fun. Even better was the multiplayer aspect. Despite the fact that there are a lot of cheaters on Battle.Net there are also a lot of real professionals. Opening up a new genre of Starcraft look-a-likes, this game is a must for any competator.

I have had StarCraft for some years now and since the first time I played I found how great of a game it was. The graphics are fairly good and the sound and music are one of the best aspects of the game. I love the challenge (not using cheats) and how you get to choose from three races oppose to the regular two. I also think that the mutiplayer is excellent . I am a big fan of strategy games and this is one of the best I have ever played, if you have a computer, you should pick this one up, now!!!!

THe best game ever!

This game kicks...! Good graphics, incredible gameplay, and three completely different races! Theat is better than age of Empires 1 and 2 because all the units are the same. It is also better than Warcraft III, because it is Sci-fi, and the unit limit is 110 more. The best part is the multiplayer, over LAN or Battle.net.

This game is-first of all- just cool. Y'know, wierd Sci-Fi junkies who worship X Files and what-not will not only like this game, they will do no other activity. Second of all, the story. All three races have an interesting storyline. Lastly, replay value. This is probably one of the highest replay values I've found. You can use over 20 programmed "extra" maps, you can make your own, and you can play aginst others on battle.net. In total, you have to be a Sci-Fi fan or freak to get into this stuff. Blizzard did a good job, even if it is a WarCraft spinoff.

Starcraft is my favorite computer game it has lots of levels with online competition. I spend hours battleing online I have beaten the game twelve times. almost all of my friends have Starcraft and play it as much as I do. If you like other war games like Diablo or age of empires then you will like this game.
