This game is utterly unbelivable. It has everything. It is ina word: great.
Why is this better then Warcraft 2? For one realreason. Because as apposed to Warcraft 2 where there were two different races who had the same abilities there are THREE races who ALL have different abilities and somehow they are SO evenly matched!
As for the rest of the game it's graphics are finaminal. The variety of units and structures is awsomely big. The gameplay is smooth and efficient. The 1-player game has great role plaing elements to it that are totally unneeded but still very good. But more then that the battles and situations they set you up with are great.The online version is great and competetive and also incredibly easy to use!
Trust me, adults and kids alike, BUY THIS GAME! END

Blizzard makes another addictive game and if your worried about getting tired of playing the game dont worry youll never get tired of it its the kind of game that when you start to play you dont wont to stop it will keep you up late in the night.

Dear Blizzard, I am going to ask you nicely to give me my husband and 16 year old son back. I haven't seen them since they got Starcraft seven months ago. They usually beat a game or lose interest in it after a few months, but this has not happened with Starcraft. In fact with the way you have enabled them to creat their own scenarios, they just might never get tired of it. They play singly, they network all three of our computers, they play online. My husband says Starcraft is the best game ever created, and he is not given to superlatives, So, I beg you, tell my how to get my family back. At the very least, make them stop calling me "Miss Kerrigan"!

I have played Star Craft for many years and I believe this is still the greatest strategy game ever. The story line is the most interesting one I have ever heard. This is a must buy!

I have played lots of blizzered games Warcraft,Warcraft 2 Diablo and diablo 2 but starcraft still leaves me wanting more. its one of those games you know will be popular forever. The graphics may not be the best ever but it makes up for it in gameplay. it isn't on of those games that are impossible to beat all it takes is time. the expantion pack brood war is one of those games thats impossible to beat. it becomes so difficult you would want to throw your keybord out the window. but it is still a great game nothing can beat StarCraft
By FAR, the best strategy game of the year!

I would rank this as the 2nd greatest strategy game of all time because of its extremely detailed graphics, fun and fast-paced game play, story line, and its very cool characters and enemys. I promise you, this will keep you glued to your computer moniter for hours on end! A VERY entertaining game! Only the classic Command & Conquer outranks Starcraft. If you havn't got Starcraft yet, I highly recommend you buy it!

This is a good RTS although it comes in 2nd to Age of EmpiresII. The races in this game are a lot more fun that those of age of empires. Also their isnt as much resource starvation as in AOE. Starcraft is also more fast paced and I think overall is a better multiplayer game due to battle.net's easy play and go layout. Overall, this is the best real time strategy you are going to get for its $20 price on amazon.com PICK IT UP!

StarCraft is always fun, although you start getting bored with the same old sprites after a while. The balance of three different races is great, although you'll have to download patches for the latest game balance (necessary for Internet play). Gameplay itself is easy to get a grip on, blut very hard to master. Still, the game allows players to just build up big, powerful units and bulldoze to victory.

Let's get one thing straight. I am biased. I love this game. I would even go so far as to say it is my favorite game. If that makes you mad then that's your problem.
First off we have the graphics. They are not 3d accelerated but they are very good and they get the job done.
Next we have the sound. I'd have to say that it is the best sound in any strategy game (although Total Annihilation comes close, in music anyway) The music is very good and fits each race. The terrans have a sort of rousing war-movie-like tune, the zerg have a wierd-sounding alien like one, and the protoss music is appropriately mystical. The sound effects fit the situation. (Gooshy biological sounding suff for the zerg, mechanical for the terran, wierd future-tech for the protoss)
Ultimately though, those are just the bells and whistles. The game-play is where it's at and that is where Starcraft truly excels. The biggest innovation here is the truly different races. In past games (can you say warcraft 2?), the opposing forces have the exact same units with different looks. In Starcraft they are really UNIQUE. Every side has its strengths and weaknesses and there are no real equivalent units.Every different match-up, whether it be protoss-zerg or terran-protoss requires a different strategy. The terrans are mobile and do well in combined-arms, the protoss are durable, powerful and expensive, and the zergs are numerous and frail. The single-player game plays out well with a ten mission campaign for each race. The campaigns are played out in a set order (terran,zerg,protoss) Why? So you can follow the STORY. Yes there is a story and it is very good too unlike most Real-time strategy games. Once you finish the single player game, then you can go online to Blizzard's free internet service for some of the best multiplayer action there is.
Starcraft is easily the best thing to come from the gods at Blizzard. It is the best real-time strategy game available. Bar-none.

Starcraft is still among the best of the real time strategy games. I especially like the inclusion of three factions with different abilities requiring different strategies to succeed. Get it with the Brood War expansion and have fun!
