Quick Paced -- Easy to Learn

This is the kind of game you can play half an hour chunks of time to blow off steam or just relax. You begin every new session in town, but "way points" allow you to zip to your personal "new frontier" of exploration and continue hacking away. Two characters depend on large groups of conjured up characters to assist in battle. The other 4 fight on their own or with one or two assistants. I have always found there is enough money and resources to keep going. If my character isn't strong enough there are enough side dungeons to beef them up before plunging ahead again.

Very playable, with a minimal amount of key strokes required and not too much NPC (non-player-character) dialogue slowing things down. One of the few games that doesn't require a huge investment of time to learn before you can start enjoying.

An imoprovement on a great game

Diablo 2 is a great game. This expansion makes it better. The larger stash is great. The two extra characters are awesome. Runes are a lot of fun.

But more important, in my opinion, are the updates to the hirelings. Before, they could add a little firepower, but were weak, took forever to level up, and just when you did, they DIED. And then you have to start all over. The expansion takes care of a lot of that. First, you can now arm your hirelings. This means they can do more damage, and can take basic armor as well. This goes a LONG way to keep them alive. And if you do slip up once in a while, you can now REVIVE them for a cost. Well worth it, now that they become a real member of the team. To finish this off, you can choose to keep the hireling as long as you want. You can take your rogue hireling from Act 1 all the way to Act 5 if you want to. You can get a higher-level barbarian when you get there.

There are a lot of great new things about this game, and the expansion helps to make it easier to use, as well as more fun. Recommended for anyone with Diablo 2.

Flat out fun

Your brain isn't going to be twisted by the difficulty of the puzzles but the expansion is a great extention to an originally addictive game. If you enjoy the low maintenance hack and slash entertainment, you're in for more of the same here.

Please be careful before purchasing this game! If you have a spouse, child, pet or a job; if you like to bathe regularly, brush your teeth more than once a day, eat regularly or visit the restroom before your bladder explodes - Be aware that this game will interfere with all of these and more!

I'm putting out this warning because no one bothered to warn me! My fiance is also hooked on Diablo LOD, and we play together via TCP/IP. Our virtual relationship is great! Our real relationship is suffering! We had no idea that Diablo was so addictive, so fun, so huge and mind expanding. Now you have been warned!

For those who are familar with Diablo and Diablo II, I can't really be of much help, as I didn't ever play the game before the "Lord of Destruction" expansion game came out. I would say it would be worth the purchase price just for the thrill of playing the new "Assassin" character, or to be able to use the "Fissure" and "Molten Boulder" spells of the new "Druid" character. The Druid can also transform into a werewolf or werebear! What fun! The new "Assassin" character has so many odd and intriguing skills that it will take forever to fully appreciate the different combinations.

For those who have no experience with Diablo II - Don't worry about the earlier two versions. Buy the "Lord of Destruction" expansion set, and it includes the two earlier games plus the newest expansion! There are a total of 7 different character classes: ..., Assassin, Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin and Sorceress. Three of the classes are female which was actually a lot of fun. There are a host of spells, auras and abilities that go with each one. There are so many different weapons, armor and items to acquire and use, that there is NO WAY to even begin to include them all here. You can check it out at .... Also - this game is very easy to play! Easy to learn, easy to master. The beauty is that this fact doesn't make the game boring in the least! If you buy the "battle chest" it comes with a very comprehensive strategy guide that will have you mastering the game very quickly. Add the fact that you can play online for free with others, and I don't see how Diable II LOD can be beat!

One thing to note: You PC needs to have some speed! This game is highly graphic intensive and we had to upgrade my fiance's computer a little to fully enjoy the experience (She needed it anyway!) I'm sure that any of today's modern PC's can handle it, though. We both have Windows 2000 Pro, and it works perfectly! The game is very stable and has only crashed once or twice - probably more because of the status of our PCs and not a Blizzard issue. In any event, we were always able to save the game and restart. I have NO complaints to point at Blizzard, either technically or creatively.

My question is this, "How in the World did the people at Blizzard come up with all this stuff?" I'm not just talking about intense graphics and sounds, I'm talking about the extreme depth of imagination and creativity in the monsters, demons, characters, weapons, quests, spells, abilities, curses, gems, jewels, armor, etc., etc., etc.

I'll admit, after well over a hundred hours of play I'm getting a bit used to the overall effect, but I still can't seem to stop playing. My solution? I went and bought Warcraft III (also from Blizzard) to try and do something different. That, too, is a great game, but it doesn't touch the mind-expansion that is Diablo II LOD.

I had been asking around for the best role-playing PC game and now I know what it is. If you, too, are seeking a PC game that will completely take you over for a year or two, buy this one! But remember the warning!

Excellent for Diablo fans everywhere

Lord of Destruction is an expansion of such enormous proportions that it may as well be considered its own game. It adds an entire new Act (bringing the total to 5), 2 completely new character classes (bringing the total to 7), and a host of new monsters and over a hundred new items to kill them with.

Everyone knows that Diablo 2, like the original Diablo, is an almost totally item-driven game. Equipment is what makes the character. The introduction of inanely powerful weapons makes playing Lord of Destruction a totally different experience from Diablo 2. The new Act and characters aside, the items alone would be worth the purchase price.

This is an absolute must-have for all owners of Diablo 2.

A truly essential expansion!

Lord of Destruction takes a great game and improves virtually everything about it, without taking away anything that made it a great game in the first place. Once you install the Expansion, there's no reason whatsoever to play the old game. The two new classes bring new skills to the game without replacing any of the old classes. The new fifth act is certainly the most creative of them, really giving you the feeling of being in a war zone. Add in the thousands of new items to find, and this game will NEVER play the same way twice, even with the same class.

Yowch this is HARD!

Ok, if you're not a mean mother when you fought Diablo, dont even think about moving on to this expansion pack. Act 5 is by far really the toughest level. Many of the creatures you fight are about as tough as some of the bosses you fought in the previous acts. Really rough. I liked having some closure though to Act 4 which really opened things up for Diablo III, now I'm not sure how they'll go through with it.... seeing how everything ended. NO I'm NOT GIVING AWAY THE ENDING! You'll have to beat the end creature in order to see the new ending.

Way to go Blizzard! This is the best expansion pack I've ever bought for a game!

This upgrade made the best computer game even better!

With better weapons and characters, the best computer game ever just got even better! With new characters like the Assassin, that uses blades worn on her hands, and the Druid, who can summon or even turn into wolves and bears, this game has taken a giant leap. It also has new, even stronger magic weapons that are sure to give the upper hand in battle against Bhaal and his hordes of demons.

wow...

A Less tedious play

The new features allow more rapid level progress, and a better equipped stronger main character. Plus the warrior companion becomes very useful in the expansion version, and the Repair All and rapid potion and scroll purchases cut wayyy down on all those tedious repetitive clicks. The last act is fun. Highly recommended to people who enjoyed Diablo II.
