This is an RPG where you start out as one of 5 Character classes, you then venture off into the wilderness where you will meet enemys of all shapes and sizes. While fighting (and hopefully conquering) the monsters, you gain EXP wich then can eventualy be put towards Your character's Damage inflicted, defense, Life, energy, and a new skill that they can perform using up energy as they do it.

Good game, cheap strategy

The game is really great, 2 new characters, 5th act, tons of items. However, the thing I don't like about Blizzard is that the 1.8 patch for original D2 made all the characters suck like hell. I've spent 2 days trying to find a good point about it, but just couldn't --> it sucks. In conclusion, Blizzard's release of 1.8 patch was not very good for the fans.

No Blizz, don't send us to Hell again.

Diablo 2 was bad enough. Mindless point-and-clicking in a dull and repetive environment -- that was essentially all D2 was.

Then Blizzard decided to cash-in on zombified Diablo 2 players by releasing this. Sure, it adds a new act and 2 new classes. But how long is that going to keep you entertained? Once you beat act 5 a few times, it becomes boring.

The bottom line is: the only thing that keeps you playing this like a zombie is the items. That's it. Nothing more. For me, I find seeking unique items that very boring. I know many D2 zombies, er, I mean D2 players will find this good entertainment.

So unless you get a kick out of mindlessly searching for items, then Lord of Destruction is not going to keep you entertained very long. I bought this in anticipation that it will add a new dimension to D2 -- looks like I was wrong. It's still the SAME GAME.

I LOVE THIS GAME

This Is the Best Game in the world. If you can post a better game on here I'll eat my words. This Game is addictive (I don't know if its addictive in a good or bad way though). So be warned. This game for me is best online. As it is the same game down to the very last part, exept you can do it with friends via Battle.Net a easy to understand online program. You basicaly are transformed into this internet world with a giant built in chat room and different channels for different gameplay oppsions. However if you are buying this for a kid beware that the online part has alot a profanity that is not avoidable if you are online. But that aside this game will blow you AWAY! It has single player which i found unatractive but your oppinion will vary from mine. Oh ya and playing online is the easyest thing in the world. #1 you connect to the internet (dosn't matter what kind I use 56k). #2 boot up your copy of D2 LOD and click BattleNet key in the middle of screen (this will be after like 20 minutes of cinematics). #3 a screen will come up with a gargoyle holding a clear ball agaist a background with a door in it. this will slowly (or fastly if you have like Cable or DSL)fill with a red substance and when the ball is full the download is complete (this is downloading Bnet). #4 you will now be in the contruct of Bnet, continue to creat an account and make characters from the list you are given. Make a good password though because there are lots of people who would love to have your account and take your characters. Easy to do huh'? I have only 1 piece of advice aftere this piont: Limit yourelf on this game you will waste away in front of it a swear. Have fun. If you have half as much fun with this game as I have you will be in for some good times. ENJOY!!

Addictive, fun, and full of replay

While not as avid gamer, I found myself putting far too much time into this game over the course of my senior year of high school and into the start of college. The expansion pack to Diablo 2 (addicting alone) fixes many of the imbalances, adds a few new and interesting character types, many interesting new additions to gameplay (runes, more weapons, and charms) and the 5th (and arguably best) chapter.

The multiplayer is a good bit of fun, especially with a group of friends or associates who can get along in a cooperative manner.

As far as single player, beating the game of the easiest setting takes a decent amount of time, but the game allows for much more gameplay by making the harder difficulties exponentially harder and full of many new and interesting items. If you can stand this type of game in the least bit, you should enjoy this game.

Good addition to the game

This addition really brings back a lot of interest with a new act, and more items. It adds a couple more hours to the gameplay and has kept me playin on Battle.net for another month or so.

A Great Expansion

I picked up Lord Of Destruction after having finally overcome a few months' addiction to Diablo II. This pack got me addicted all over again. Lots of new items revitalized the online (Battle.net) economy. The new classes are fun (although the Druid gets a raw deal, the assassin is great.) The added space is good for a pack rat like me. The new act has nice rewards, and while the plot is, as usual, forgettable, Diablo isn't a game many people by for the plot anyway. This expansion adds lots of fun to the original Diablo II, even if you are like me and played it to death. Also, I've noticed a slight improvement in the general disposition of the online community, from "ultra-greedy" to "greedy, but some of them will help you out." Every Diablo fan needs this expansion pack.

Had hoped for more.

I'll preface this by stating that I'm not one of those hardcore Diablo players who has to play the game until my character is level 99 and has a gazillion experience points and the best of every item. Perhaps in an MMORPG, this is a great goal. But in a game like Diablo, it seems that once you've beat it, you've beat it. Experience, weapons, levels, abilities and everything else are scaled so that while beating Diablo at each higher level (Normal, Nightmare, Hell) is slightly tougher, it's not much different than beating it the first time. And since the cinematics, levels, areas and acts are all the same, it gets boring after the first time. At least, when you have a thousand other things to do during the day, once you've beat Diablo, the excitement just isn't there to do it again (though for some people it obviously is!).

That having been said, i did pre-order the expansion pack and eagerly awaited its arrival. Diablo is a fun game in general and more Diablo had to be a good thing. I figured it would keep me busy for a long time and give me something to do with my time between projects.

So I put the game in at noon. By five o' clock that evening, i had beat the game. As much as I hate to say this about a Blizzard game, it just wasn't worth the price. I'm not even sure it was worth half the retail price.

There are two new cinematics. The first one is enjoyable but non-spectacular. The final one is a let-down, not exciting and completely anti-climactic. I don't expect to play it again and gave it to a friend.

If you're a hard-core Diablo fan who plays your characters past level 50, you'll probably enjoy this. If nothing else, you'll enjoy the new monsters, items, classes and the 600x800 resolution. Otherwise, you might find a completely seperate game more worth your money and more rewarding in the long term.

To all of you Diablo/Diablo II fans (Especially those of you who play on Battle.net). This is definately something that you'll love. Now I DEFINATELY recommend you to buy this game. I'm spending my time writing this review when I can be playing Diablo II: Lords of Destruction to try and convince you to buy it. It has a whole bunch of new goodies to enjoy. Two new character classes, a whole new act, new bosses, monsters, items, horadric cube recipes...i could go on forever! What more could you ask for. I've always put my trust in Blizzard to make a damn good game. Every single one that they have made i've been hooked on! Don't think, just get it!
