When Diablo II came out for the computer in 99, i wouldn't leave my computer for nothing. it's the most detailed game i have ever played. there is near endless articulation to a character and strategie. four tough and mind-blowing acts (or levels, it doesnt matter) that you have to beat. at the end of every act is a major boss and mini bosses all through each act. there are 5 unique characters with their own skills and abilities that will help them in different arear of the game--
But enough about d2, u might b wonderin, ' who cares, what about the expansion?' well the expansion is even better. there is one more act with the hardest boss ever. the act takes place on a mountain that is inhabited by the barbarian tribes (barbs KICK...). u have two more characters: the assasin who is about martial arts and deception and the druid who is into nature... like summoning animals, elemental attacks and transforming into bears and wolves.
IF YOU HAVE THIS GAME YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND
Fun game but has some bugs

This makes Diablo II alot funner. I bought it yesterday and that is all i have played since. However this thing has some drawbacks. They put a copy protection program on it. That means you have to spend 5 minutes swaping cds in and out of your cdrom in order to play. I also have been getting ALOT of cdrom errors with it however there is nothing wrong with my cdrom. I think its a bug in the program. I downloaded v1.08 but that did not help. Although it did fix some things i did not like. Maybe when they come out with v1.09 it will be fixed. What is cool is you can start in act one with one of the two new characters. The Druid rocks. In short this is a great game but if you buy it be prepared to deal with some bugs!

I got the Diablo 2 Expansion Pack (D2 X Pac) is worth every penny. Some people say it aint worth it and stuff but it is! I started a Necromancer and with the new preserved heads (shields for the Necromancers only) that add amazing things to Necromancer skills. The preserved head type shield I have now adds two to Skeletal Mage! And the Amazons. Most Amazons now a days are Bowazons (Amazons that use bows instead of Javalins. Amazons using Javalins are called Javazons) and there is a great new bow for Amazons only called Stag bows (that's one type of this new bow). Every magical Stag bow I've run into so far has added at least one to Amazon bow and crossbow skills. And then there are new Javalins for those few Javazons out there. The Sorceress has new orbs taht are terrific! They can be incredibly good. Many will add one or two to all Sorceress skill levels and the best thing is they're one handed instead of the two-hand staffs so you can ahve a shield along with your orb which can be as good, if not better, than most two-hand staffs. There are helms for the Barbarian and the Druid (one of the new classes which I personally don't like much but with their shapeshifting skills they can be very powerful). Both can be very good. The Assasin (the other new class which I think really kick butt) has claws which can be really good. The Paladins also have a new weapon which is quite good; new shields. All the shields I see in Hell difficulty that are Paladin only add to resistances. There are also tons of new modifications for weapons, new Horadric Cube recipies and new weapons. I'll only tell you about one; the Circlets and the higher level Coronets. They are helms and even the magic ones can be extremely good. I have a magic Circlet with my Sorceress online that adds two to all Sorceress skill levels.
Now about Act 5. Act 5 is the BEST act. EVERY quest gives ya something good. One quest allows you to socket items and you can even put one socket into magic, unique, rare, set or Crafted (items made with the Horadric Cube) items. Another, like the second quest in Act I, allows you to hire very good mercanaries. You can even put your name into an item! Every quest is worth it. The whole X Pac made D2 even more fun. I've played SOOO goddamn much since I got it... It's totally worth it! And for all of you who are tired of Chaos runs (where you kill everything in the Chaos Sanctuary) there is now something to get you even more experience. The FIRST place in Act V in Hell difficulty is what ya go for. I'm level 83 (almost 84) and a few games will still level me (okay... More like a dozen... but think how many Chaos runs it would take!).
Now if you don't have D2, much less the D2 X Pac, then you should get it IMMEDIATELY! It is worth it! Unless you have lotsa stuff to do. Because Im telling you this is gonna suck you into the game like boats get sucked into the Barmuda Traingle!
Great game, but then again...

ok, why the low rating? Well, this game is extremely unbalanced. If you play this online, most likely the reason why u keep playing is that u r hunting for items to sell on ebay. This is truely sad sad thing to see. People now adays only play this game for its items, not for the game itself! well, the game dun have much of itself.
Online Players are rude, and they will try to scam you for ur account to get ur items. No security at all. People hack, duplicate items and sell it on ebay. This game brings out the worst in people. Play it if u r a fan of Diablo, the CG movies are excellent! But i won't recommand you to get to involve in its Multi Player option.
THOROUGHLY OVER-RATED

This expansion simply isnt worth the bother. Sure its fun for about a day or two but if i wanted to have fun for a day id buy a bottle of vodka, its a lot cheaper. And the thing is with vodka, by the time you decide its not worth it, you wouldve got out of it what you bought it for- not suddenley realizing that it lacks originality, depth and wastes your time when you could be off doing more meaningful things (like drinking vodka).
There are some major problems with this expansion pack-
1] Wow! Cool! 2 new characters! Sick! Only after you shell out yr precious (money) (enough for 2 bottles of vodka) you realize that the druid is simply a mix of the necro the soceress and the barb made to look all fancy (ooh! look! im a wolf! meow!) and improves gameplay by zilch and the assassin, whilst basically the most original part of the pack was about as exciting to play as an empty bottle of vodka. Boy i had so much fun! yeah! [snore]
If you want this for the new characters, dont bother. Theyre nothing new and nothing great (and the druids overpowered anyway). Go play an amazon or necro in standard d2.
2) Wow! Cool! A whole new act! Ice! Mad! it doesnt even look like ice! More like the dark templar world from starcraft! Mad!
And the environments all look the same! and the NPCs are boring as! The quests are so much fun too! kill this-kill that-find this-find that! Not repetitive at all! The only way you can tell what level youre playing is by checking up on the nearest waypoint! (in other words- its a bore)
There is some good but- the little 'extra' levels stylized like the river of flame. theyre cool. and theres no level called 'vodka brewery'
3) The new items. Blizzard i think has a special formula for items "ooh! lots of people want an itme like that! well put in the xpack! and one like that! and one like that too! ooh! cool!"
All bonus items are gimmicky and designed to attract buyers.
A the real (...) thing is they unbalance the game to the point where dying is as rare as planetary alignment. and with mana health and rejuvenation potions they couldve at least added a vodka one instead
4) Now this is what really pissed me of- the monsters. Now there are several problems with these things too.
a] There are virtually now ranged attack monsters in the entire act. Even half the existing succubus are melee creatures. And most creatures with ranged attacks suck anyway (overseers?)
b] The monsters were highly unimaginative. A kid with a bottle of vodka could think up much better monsters. They pale compared to teh rest of d2
c] the bosses are kinda screwed. Baal is cool, but hes too easy. His ranged attacks hurt but for the most powerful of the greater evils hes much easier than the others- even mephisto. He may seem hard at first, u have to work out a way to kill him, but even that aint hard. And why does the sub-boss Nihlathak have a greater mlvl than the end boss? And Minions of Destruction? They('re bad) too- and theyre harder than the end boss, or anything else for that matter.
d] "enhanced AI" Need i say more?
Mind you, there are some cool creatures. Minotaurs are not so imaginative but they do liven up gameplay comsiderably. Defilers are imaginative but (bad), the Ancients were an idea but theyre too easy. But the one monster which really makes act v come to life is the frozen horror- undeniably cool. If yr gonna buy the xpack for one reason, this is it.
e] the storyline. a kid with a box of crayons could do better.
Overall, all the hype surrounding this was just that- hype. This pales to other great rpg xpacks like hellfire and throne of bhaal. It is fun though for a while but it simply doesnt really do much for diablo 2. This expansion is much like a bottle of vodka- u can finish it off in about an hour.

Diablo and its more recent followers are the best RPG games EVER. I got DiabloII LOD the week it came out for $50 and I must say, it was worth every penny. D2 has an amazing arsenal of weaponry and armor and is incredibly re-playable (unlike NeverWinter Nights which was only good once). D2 is best on multiplayer and now, due to 1.10 patch, virtually hack and cheat free. Now I asume you've gathered that I am a huge fan of D2 but, hey it's a great game and worth every cent. Hey if you get and don't like it( your an absolute moron and don't have any brains OR your another one of the evil morality police), this is just another review by an ecentric RPG game player.

This is the best computer game ever. I f you already played diablo2 and you want more (just like i did) you will not be disappointed. Theres two new characters a druid and a assasin. Theres runes and jewel and a few new weapons. Another act. Yeah its just one but you won't be disappointed because its very long. The only real problem is that bail is way to easy. Hes a lot easier than diablo.
I didn't eat drink or sleep for a week until i finished this game. it`s absalutely amazeing!!!!!
well done

If you are serious about playing Diablo II, you cannot miss out on the expansion pack. Two new characters--Druid and Assassin--as well as a whole new act to defeat. Added items and a (much) larger stash are bonuses as well! This reviewer would be lost without her Assassin, and I think Act V is one of the best acts in the game. It's a great place to level (with interesting/fun quests) and find unique/rare items--what better way to build up your character before taking on Baal? Again, I cannot stress how much this expansion adds to the enjoyment of the game. Once you play with the expansion, you'll never go back to regular Diablo II again. I promise.
A great game made even better with this expansion pack

Diablo II is perhaps the oldest PC game that's currently still in print, as it originally came out in 2000, and as of my speaking (2006) still being manufactured. It's one of the few still-in-print games that runs (and beautifully, by the way) on my antiquated system (to show you how antiquated my system is: it runs Riven: A Sequel to Myst beautifully, but on Myst III: Exile, many of the scenes are fine, but many of the animated sequences tend to be shaky, and it won't run Myst IV: Revelation, because it's far too slow and don't have the proper video card). That's probably also the beauty of Diablo II, you don't need the newest, fanciest computer with a 2GHz processor and the latest video card to play it. This is a truly wonderful, slash-em up adventure game certainly to please anyone of this genre. But the original Diablo II was not without its drawbacks. For example, what's the use in hiring a mercenary if they get killed almost before you get a chance to use them? Why can't you bring your mercenary back to life? Or why do you have to place your socketed weapon or armor in your inventory to place your gems, jewels and skulls in them, when you should be able to do it while still equipped? Well, this Lord of Destruction expansion pack fixes these problems, and so much more! Not only now is your mercenary much more useful, but they can be resurrected (at a certain price), you got new weapons and armor, you have two new characters to choose from (an assassin or druid), new charms, runes, etc. I also love how your stash now has been doubled, so you can put in twice as many weapons, armor, potions, etc. as before. But there are certain weapons and armor that can only be used by certain characters, and if you're playing the one player feature, you can sell these weapons and armor you can't use because of character incompatibility for more gold. And best of all, you have a whole new quest after you finish killing off Diablo! Plus you can have higher resolution so you can see more of your surroundings. Remember: you have to have the original Diablo II in order to use this expansion pack, of course. I really think this expansion pack is essential, it gets rids of a lot of the drawbacks, making the game even more exciting.

Yes, the cost of the XP is high, but so much is added into it, who cares?? Zillions of new treasures, spells, weapons..and you get to keep your free ally, if you can keep him/her alive.(When s/he does die, you can have him/her resurrected.) I have had a lot of fun building up my ally's character, and she has saved my careless behind a few times. I have played as the Druid, and, although I haven't reached the end yet,I am really enjoying kicking demon butt as a werebear. I still hate the detestable save system that was introduced with D2,but, with the ally fighting along side you, the chances of being killed are lessened considerably. One more thing: the new optional graphic setting is awesome.I hadn't realized how cool it was until switched over to the "old" setting. Lastly: I am a 53 year old(female) gamer, and enjoy shoot 'em ups and dungeon crawls..and this XP has really hooked me.I recommend it without reservation.
