Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast. The third game in the Star Wars Dark Forces series.
INTRODUCTION:
I've pretty much always been a fan of Star Wars, and as you may have guessed, I'm a fan of many of the games based on the series. Although Star Wars games are often hit and miss, when one succeeds, it usually succeeds beautifully. One of the most interesting ideas for a Star Wars game was Dark Forces, released for the Playstation One and the PC. Although the game itself was horrendous, with a terribly-choppy framerate and very poor level design, it was something the world had never seen before - a Star Wars first-person shooter. The sequel, Jedi Knight, cleaned up a lot of the problems, and added in some new innovations. And now the third game in the series, Jedi Outcast, has arrived. Like previous games in this sub-series, it has gotten a multi-console release. Read on to see how it fares!
OVERVIEW:
Jedi Outcast is a Star Wars first-person shooter. The game has a one-player quest, as well as several different multiplayer modes.
REVIEW:
To put it simply, this game is everything the original Dark Forces should have been. While not perfect, this game is a huge improvement over its predecessors. Once again you play the role of Kyle Katarn, the agent from the other Dark Forces titles. The second Death Star has been destroyed, but many Imperial forces still fight on, so it's up to you to infiltrate their hideouts and exterminate them. The graphics are, for the most part, solid. I was impressed at how good they are for this kind of game. Nothing state-of-the-art, but they're still pretty damn good. Control has also been given an overhaul and rightfully so, since this game lets you use force powers and wield a lightsaber. The single-player mode is extremely entertaining, and the fact that the game offers multiplayer options only adds to the overall value of the package. And you can save whenever you want to in the single-player mode! But, of course, the game isn't perfect. Like earlier Dark Forces games, the level design just is not that good. Too many areas look alike, and there are too many instant death spots that are just too easy to fall into. Likewise, in many cases your objectives are unclear, and some of the puzzles are a pain - I don't know about you, but I buy first-person shooters to shoot people, not solve puzzles! Because of the imbalanced puzzles and often poor level design, it took me over an hour just to beat the first level! Another huge problem is availability. Lack of custom control configuration also plagues the game. This is a huge problem, since the game's limited control selections will often clash with what you're used to for this sort of game. This game wasn't released on the consoles in very high quanitites, so you're likely gonna have to shell out the full new price just to get a USED copy - and in my mind, it's NOT worth that price. Sad but true. I do recommend this game to Star Wars fans, just be warned that it's not perfect, and it's hard to get a copy.
EDITION NOTES:
This is a good game, but for some strange reason it just wasn't available on the consoles for very long. Because of this, even USED copies fetch close to the original new retail price. This is extremely annoying for people like me who want to get every Star Wars game. Still, you should hunt it down if you're into this sort of thing.
OVERALL:
Overall this is the best game in the Dark Forces sub-series thusfar. Where the game succeeds, it succeeds beautifully. I am impressed with the game, it's just a shame the consular version was not made readily available to all would-be players. I strongly recommend this game if you can get a hold of it - I doubt it will disappoint any Star Wars fan.
Good Challenging Game

This isn't your typical run through game, you actually have to think and take risk at times. It does get a little difficult as stated in alot of reviews but that's the thing I like most about it. I rate this just as good as Jedi Academy. My only flaws were the default controls, those were a pain. I highly recommend changing that and the force powers were a pain to use at first but once you got used to it it wasn't that bad. This has a decent story line as all the Star Wars games do and fun to play. I had to use a few cheat codes on some of the levels (like Level Skip)because it gets pretty tough, but I didn't have to do that much, maybe twice. Anyways, this is a definately must have for all the Star Wars fans out there.
FUN BUT EXTREMELY HARD

This is a great game for any skilled star wars game freak. The graphics are pretty good and the gameplay is very fun and challenging don't listen to the negative reviews claiming the game is to hard, the people who claim it's to hard are just weak at video games granted the game can frustrate but it never get's to the point where you want to throw the game out the window. This is a good game and I highly recomend it to and star wars fan. p.s. don't buy jedi academy that game is horrible! what a shame to ruin the series like that!

My computer was to slow to play it. So I had to wait till it came out on Xbox. I had high hopes for this game and it did not let me down. The first two levels were kinda dull for me because I wanted to use a lightsaber. But after the first two levels it was granted and the game shined differently in my eyes. The gameplay after that point was action packed and I can say I never thought to brandish a gun ever again. From your first lightsaber dual up to the secret stage of the game, I have enjoyed the gameplay experience. I even find myself returning to the jedi action once and a while to slaughter stormtroopers and take in some of the big environments. If it wasn't for certain levels were I was constantly plummeting to my death I would have gave it five stars. I'm not a big Star Wars freak but just buy this game if you like the movies, it won't let you down.

I first got this game about 2 years ago for computer. Back then, I had a really slow computer, and it didn't work right. I was so mad that I had wasted 40 dollars on it. It went on the shelf and waited there for 2 years. Now I have a better computer and play it all the time. The earlier reviewer said that the game was extremely difficult, not so. The guy must have obviously been a moron, and not been able to figure out the puzzles, because the game has an average difficulty, and if he wants it easier, he can play on Padawan. Anyway, the game is basically a first person shooter based game, where you go around blasting storm troopers, probe droids, and more. I suggest getting this game because I really enjoy playing it, and I want to get it for XBOX too.
This game kicks BUTT!!!!

This game rocks. You start off as a Rebel infiltrating Imperial bases. You don't your lightsaber or the Force at first but don't worry you'll get them later.Once you get the lightsaber and force powers and fight another Jedi, you'll get addicted. This game is extremely difficult unless you hve the proper cheat codes[Which i do]This game also has a cool arsenal of weapons like the E-11 blaster rifle and a disintergrater gun.The multi player is also cool. Different games like Free for all, Duel, and capture the flag. The games puzzles are really hard at times but don't give up. The final fight is worth it.[I'm really 13]

Early on in the game you use a pistol and rifle and take down some stormtroopers for the New Republic as you explore their base, with no force powers. But events make a turn for the worse and you go to Luke and request for your lightsaber back. Then you begin to discover force powers as you search out the dark Jedi/killer of your girlfriend for the rest of the game. With amazing graphics and increddible duels, this game is simply magnificent. Plus the multiplayer is awesome (especially when you play CTF and give the other team a boat load of Storm Troopers you and your friend being rebels with one bot helping you against twenty or so Stormtroopers makes the game a game you'll never want to trade in! Plus the duels are fun to play again and again. I would have five stars but the game does have two or three puzzles that are quite difficult. All in all a great game that any StarWars fan must own, any shooter fan really has to have, and if you like both, oooh you need it really bad!
Spectacular Goodness
