Well, I recently purchased Jedi Knight II Outcast, STAR WARS for the XBOX version. Back in March 2002 I purchased the Jedi Knight II Outcast STAR WARS version for PC. When comparing the XBOX version to the PC version, I'd have to say the PC version has the advantage. The XBOX version of Jedi Knight II, offers good graphics quality, audio quality, and game play. Unfornatley,(well not so unfornate)I own a 27-inch panasonic flat TV monitor screen, which means it offers very low resolution picture quality. Plugging in the super-vhs support helped and made the resolution twice as clear, but when playing Jedi Knight II, the resolution of graphics was very low. It looked much higher on my compute monitor. Anyway, the texture quality of Jedi Outcast for the XBOX is very good. The Sound effects are equal to the PC version's. And so are the music sound track songs. I think gameplay are equal, but in different ways. The thing that bothers me about Jedi Outcast for the XBOX is the lame controller scheme, which is very difficult to use. And the low resolution TV for me also makes me mad. Though, lucasarts, raven, and activision along with the XBOX team did a good job importing Jedi Outcast from PC to XBOX. The Multiplayer is a little lame, only 2-players are supported. And there is no XBOX live support! Yet, let me talk about the highs of jedi outcast for the XBOX. I was hoping that Jedi Knight II would take advantage of the XBOX's hardware, and it did. It offers a very smooth frame rate per second, while displaying nice dynamic lightning effects. The main menu and other menu design of Jedi Outcast for the XBOX is more advanced than for PC. Also, another thing that bothers me is that you have to complete missions and on higher difficulties to access certain characters and maps in multiplayer, bonus missions in single player, and movies, and the gallery in the extras menu. I'm sure they will come out with cheats later. The XBOX displayed an extremely fast frame per second in areas that my PC lagged pretty bad in. And some areas it did that where my PC lagged a little bit in, and a whole lot in. Well, it is the XBOX, what do you expect? The game play of Jedi Knight II for the XBOX is just like the game play for the PC version. But the Loading Scheme of Jedi Knight II for the XBOX is quite different than for the PC, instead of only loading after you beat an entire level, between areas of the single level jedi knight II is broken up and loads that way. Overall; Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is very good quality and I'd recommend it for most gamers. :)

I WAS SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS...OUT AND I'M A BIT DISAPPOINTED. HERE'S WHAT I HAVE TO SAY...GRAPHICS ARE GOOD, MUSIC IS COOL. IT LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE STAR WARS BUT I'M CERTAIN THAT IT DOESN'T PLAY LIKE STAR WARS...THERE ARE SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS GAME. HERE IS A WORD THAT YOU DON'T HERE MUCH IN GAME REVIEWS, "FLOW" AND THIS GAME HAS NONE. THERE WILL BE NUMEROUS TIMES THAT YOU WILL WALK DOWN ONE HALLWAY WHEN YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE THE OTHER WAY TO ALLOW THE MOVIE (OR END OF A ROUND) TO COME TO A CLOSE. THIS MEANS THAT WITHOUT A GUIDE YOU WANDER UP AND DOWN A LEVEL WITH NOBODY LEFT TO KILL LOOKING FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. THIS GETS A LITTLE DULL AND TAKES AWAY FROM THE ENTERTAINMENT VALUE OF THIS GAME. I LOVE HAVING TO THINK DURING GAMEPLAY BUT WHEN I DON'T HIT A SWITCH THAT LOOKS THE SAME AS 50 OTHERS THAT WEREN'T ABLE TO BE HIT...I GET KINDA BOTHERED.
HERE'S THE REAL KICKER WITH FLOW...IT ISN'T UNTIL AROUND ROUND 7 UNTIL YOU GET YOUR SABER...AND YOU GET PUMPED UP...NOW YOUR GONNA KICK SOME TAIL...RIGHT? WRONG!
THE VERY NEXT ROUND HAS NO FLOW TO IT AT ALL. THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE PARTS IN THE ROUND WHERE YOU ARE EXPECTED TO MAKE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE JUMPS...SOME THAT YOU WON'T EVEN THINK YOUR SUPPOSED TO MAKE...THE FIRST JUMP...WHICH ISN'T A VISUALLY DIFFICULT ONE (WHAT I MEAN IS THERE IS NOTHING ATTACKING YOU AND NO REAL DANGER OF CRASHING TO YOUR DEATH) YOU JUST HAVE TO HIT A LITTLE LEDGE ABOVE YOU...AND IT EASILY TOOK TWENTY MINUTES TO LAND IT WITHOUT FALLING OFF THE OTHER SIDE. LUCKILY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SAVE AT ANY POINT IN THE GAME, BUT THERE WILL BE ROUNDS WHERE YOU WILL BE SAVING EVERY COUPLE OF SECONDS. THIS IS REALLY BOTHERSOME, YOU CAN'T JUST PLAY THE GAME...I DON'T MIND GETTING HAMMERED BY STORM TROOPERS OR WHATEVER BUT WHEN I KEEP BUYING THE FARM ON STUPID JUMPS THAT FAILED PADAWANS COULD MAKE...I'M NOT HAPPY. THE MOVEMENT IS SOMETIMES VERY STUPID AND DESTROYS THE IMPACT OF THE COOL MUSIC AND THE WEAPON ON YOUR BELT.
LASTLY, THE CONTROLS TO THE SABER ARE SILLY...WHEN I THINK OF HAVING A SABER, I THINK OF KICKING SOME SERIOUS BUTT...AND IT DOES...BUT NOT NEARLY TO THE SAME DEGREE AS IN OBI-WAN. YOU HAVE TO SWITCH YOUR FORCE POWERS MANUALLY, RATHER THAN HAVING DIFFERENT BUTTONS FOR EACH AS IN OBI-WAN...AND WHEN YOU DO GET THE HANG OF THE FORCE AND YOUR SABER...KYLE STILL LOOKS GOOFY HOLDING IT...IN OBI-WAN IT MAY HAVE BEEN TO EASY WITH JEDI OUTCAST IT IS NOT DIFFICULT, BUT CUMBERSOME AND AWKWARD. I WISH LUCAS ART WOULD HAVE FOUND SOME MIDDLE GROUND...

One of the most exciting Jedi games from LucasArts, Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is an awesome addition to the ever-growing X-Box selections in entertainment. STAR WARS lends itself amazingly well to games in any form (PS2, GBA, PC and XBOX) with a myriad of exciting adventures, including JEDI STARFIGHTER and the GBA Ep.2 game. JEDI OUTCAST is my favourite of all the STAR WARS games, with good graphics, top-notch sound and inventive levels for enthusiasts who want more action! I've played both the PC version and the X Box, and this one wins easliy. The graphics and controls are much better. The cheat codes are easy to find (Some really cool stuff- my favourite is the force lightning) and the title Jedi, Kyle Katarn is one of the best characters ever done for a Star Wars video game. If it has a flaw, the stormtroopers are too easy to kill on the first levels. But the game has graphics and picture quality far above JEDI KNIGHT I. For STAR WARS game addicts and fans, this is the best. May the force be with you!

I own the PC version and if this is anything like it, it's FUN. If your a FPS or SW fan purchase this game. The story line is alright, not related to original SW though. Replay value is ok not great. I would recommend having Xbox live if its compatible, I think it is. That way you can play online which is a hoot. This game ought to be #1 for online play until Halo 2 comes out.
GREAT GAME!...

For a real Star Wars fan this is a good game to get.It has you playing as Kyle Katarn,a rebel jedi. The game has great graphics and sound. The game switches from first to third person(depending on if you have the lightsaber or not). The multiplay is just plain...AWESOME...Lightsaber on blaster fights on cool locations, this multiplayer is action packed .Overall its a great action packed game for anybody who is a Star Wars fan or just wants a good game.
Jedi Outcast won't be as good on Xbox as it was on PC....

Jedi Outcast is a solid game that has a nice storyline and great customizable multiplayer. I think, though, that it won't be as good on the console simply because a lot of games that moved from the PC to the consoles were not as good. There are too few buttons on the controllers for all the game options. Also, I think a split-screen for mp will look pretty [lame]. Still should be a lot of fun though.

I just rented Jedi Outcast for my son and I to play, and was really disappointed. From the graphics to the way the game played, Jedi Outcast was weak. I am really glad that I rented this game first. I am a huge Star Wars fan, but would not buy this game. I am hoping Knights of The Republic is better.
Worthy title, could be better...

I just got "Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast" (what a mouthful!) and needless to say, I was impressed. At first. The visuals were an eyefull and themed appropriately. Everything seemed in order. Then I actually got into the game. Yes, this game was hyped. Yes, it was either reviewed with great scores or with poor scores. Virtually no one beleived it was mediocre. Now, I am a Star Wars fan, nonetheless, I try not to flame a game based on unfair ussumptions. After thoroughly playing the game, I beleive the review I am writing is fair. There are good points as well as bad points. Here is why it deserves a solid 3 stars.
Graphics: Yes, the graphics are superb in most cases and very good in bad cases. Minor lighting situations may cause confusion to the sensitive. In general, most should be very satisfied with the "Quake III" engine generated visuals. The modeling of the stormtroopers is the best yet. The bit mapping is astounding, and the paint job is amazing. Unlike it's predecessor, "Jedi Knight II" uses computer animated cinematics as opposed to live action. The one major flaw is the horrible physics. The one major flaw is huge. I shot a stormtrooper and he flew in the opposite direction (towards me). Or I was in a room suffocating on gas when I died and flew backwards. Overall, definetly a 3/5 stars for graphics.
Sound: Excellent quality. Bad content. The voice acting is nice a best and horrible at worst. Some actors/actresses are simply deplorable. Others are really talented. The music is booming about 1/10 of the time, usually during fights, and off 6/10 of the time. The remaing 3/10 is so low, it doesn't even seem like it is there. Overall 6/10 for forgettable songs I can't hear and for good and bad voice acting.
Playability: Good. Not great. The level design is frustrating and simplistic. The average level goes: Slaughter commando. Take key from slaughtered commando. Walk to door five feet away. Open door. Repeat. The level design consists of the same elements over and over and over. The use of force and lightsabers is generally not incorporated into the game. However, the levels are quite entertaining because they Involve many lightsaber battles and a lot of gunplay. The weapons are lacking in punch. I do not care for the balancing, the flechette (shotgun-like) is way more powerful than any of the other weapons besides the rocket launcher. Nice effort, but average compared to games like "HALO". 8/10.
Controls: The worst field in "Jedi Knight II" is the controls. They are nicely calibrated, however the places they put the controls are horrible. If you are running and want to switch weapons, to bad. The left thumbstick is run and the switch weapons/force/inventory. The weapons usually miss. 2/3 shots are worthless. Nice try, but the controls just don't work. 2/10.
Conclusion: Likable title for Star Wars fans, but just okay for other casual gamers. Disappointment for most "Darkforces" and "Jedi Knight" fans. I was entertained through the single player, but the strength of this game is the multiplayer. The framerate slows with 14 bots, but the game is customizable to the last lightsaber. All in all, 6/10 (3/5). The game seemed rushed.
If you are a Star Wars gamer, you might like this but in all cases, rent before you buy here. I hope I was helpful and until next time...
