A Great Experience in the Star Wars Universe

Let me tell you young skywalkers, this game is a great edition to your first-person shooter collection. Not only is it a great first-person shooter, it's a great Star Wars game. This game reminds me of, oh, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire for N64. Yep, it's that good. In the introduction levels, we are forced only to eliminate our enemy(Stormtroopers)with laser blasters and batons, after that you can harness the Jedi weapon, the lightsaber. The lightsaber effects are great for the x-box, they react to all action taken. The story line is classic, a mercenary(Kyle Katarn)is tricked into thinking his girlfriend/parnter(Jan Ors)is dead and turns to the Vally of the Jedi to use the force to stop a villian named Desann. Luke Skywalker makes an impact in the game and Lando is a big help. The game will take you back to the classic trilogy thinking all this new Star Wars stuff is a computerized joke. Enjoy this rare, great game.
Terrific on PC, terrible on XBox.

Perhaps I've been spoiled by Halo, but this particular game for the XBox seemed absolutely terrible in comparison. One of the main failings of this game are that there simply too many powers, guns, and equipment items to cram into a hand-held controller. The controls are awkward and therefore it becomes difficult to achieve the same level of gameplay that one enjoyed on the PC.
Additionally, the graphics did not seem tailored to the XBox. The health bar was too small to read clearly, the "use" signal much too small, and overall the superior video capabilities of the XBox were under-utilized.
At best, the game is mediocre but the "Star Wars" brand name stamped upon it will ensure that it will sell well (much like the movies).
Great game

I have the PC version of the game and it was great. The XBox version will only have slight changes from the excellent PC version. First, there won't be any online play. You can still link your consoles together but the multiplayer for the Xbox LIVE has been axed. Second, the levels load differently. They'll be done in sections rather than as a whole. Third, they took out dismemberment when you use your lightsaber to cut someone. This is probably the worst feature taken out. You won't get to see arms flying now. Other than that, this will be just like the PC version. Awesome game with a great story that actually extends the Star Wars mythos. Get it if you didn't get the PC one.
truly awesome game

I recevied this game for Christmas, and let me tell you it is one of the best games i have ever played. You are Kyle Katarn a Republic mercenary and former Jedi. you start off doing missions for the Republic until a dark Jedi named Dessen captures your partner Jan, and sends you on a quest to find her, which leads you back to Luke Skywalker to ask for your lightsaber back, which he handed over when he left the academy. You watch as Kyle regains all of his force powers, with a little help from the valley of the jedi, which plays a pivotal role in the storyline of the game. Without giving too much away, i can tell you that this game has awesome graphics, excellent AI, and the best lightstaber battles of any star wars game ever. period. I highly recommend this to people who love star wars, and follow the story of the "Expanded Universe" which is played out in this game.
not feelin your force, holmes...

this will not be a comprehensive review, kids. i just wanted to throw a few things out there that were, unfortunately, not included in video game mag reviews (but then again, no one from Lucas Arts is paying me for ad space, ya dig?).
i played the PC version of Jedi Outcast at a friend's and really wanted to pick up a copy on my way home that day - it played well and looked sweet! that didn't happen due to work and school schedules and by the time i had any time to play a few new games, this puppy was out of the x-box = woo hoo! i was stoked that i could play this game in the comfort of my living room using a controller that works with my larger hands. another bonus was reading several publicized reviews stating that the x-box version was every bit as good as its PC partner.... nope.
the graphics for the x-box version are kinda sad. no, they're not Atari 2600 bad ("Go little yellow dot, go!!"), but both Lucas and Gates should be smacked silly for not utilizing the graphical prowess this machine has. the only conclusion i can come to is laziness and the assumption that hard-core fans will buy any game with the Star Wars license (which seems to be the case if you're played many of the early SW PC games. ech). if you ever saw the difference between the PC and PS2 version of Max Payne then you know what to expect. it's a shame, really.
the gameplay is not so great, either. for a big chunk of this game, you're playing a lackluster FPS, at best. i really wanted a fast and furious shooter that took place within the Star Wars universe. what i got was a lame FPS with goofy "puzzles" that annoy more than entertain (such as: just trying to figure out where you're supposed to go, finally figuring that out, but now you can't open the door you know you have to go through, and then spending too much time backtracking to find the switch that you wizzed past that opens another door somewhere else that leads to yet another panel that allows you to finally move on. this would be more interesting if there was action involved to break up the hunt for the hidden switch, but you killed off everyone on this part of the map within two minutes. snooooooooze). i really, really wish that someone in the various reviews i read had mentioned that there was a large puzzle element involved... and that they're pretty lame. if this game had been released on N64 way before GoldenEye, it would have been pretty cool... but we're way past that, now.
((and good luck if you get stuck with a friendly character that is tagging along for that level/map. they're really good at getting themselves shot and if you try to run ahead to protect them, you either get wasted or they run in front of you and you waste them = game over. repeat.))
making it to the point where you can use a saber is really not worth it, imho. i only made it that far to try and justify that price of buying this game new = waste of time and a big mistake on my part. the multiplayer is kinda fun b/c you can throw a ton of bots on the map with both weapons and sabers. it's chaotic, but pretty much any other game with such options will blow this one away. there are a lot of maps and game types to choose from but, again, the game doesn't look that great and you always have the feeling that you should be spending your time on something more deserving (like pulling nose hairs or waxing the carpet).
if you're a diehard fan, this game may still be worth it. you will see familiar characters and the sounds are all the same, but you should demand better. this is a licensing deal and not much more. the x-box port was either rushed or no one cared - either way, we lose. please, RENT this first if you're still curious... or, if you live in Cincinnati/N.Ky, there will be one more used copy on the market very, very soon.

I won't go into the games other aspects as the other reviewers have done a good job desbribing the story, controls, and overall gameplay. What I will touch on is the AWFUL character animations and overall mediocre graphics. Maybe I'm just jaded from playing Splinter Cell but the characters here are laughable, especially the death animations. The AI is also pathetic. More than once did I have at least 3 to 4 Stormtroopers run from me in terror.
Add in the frustrating puzzles plus repetitive music and you have a game that (i found to be) barely playable.
Pretty Fun Game!

First off I would like to tell you this game is a lot like Goldeneye for N64, but with enhanced graphics. The missions are sometimes puzzling; but isn't that why you bought the game? The story mode is very fun and has great detail in every level. The multiplayer is also one of the best features. Get a friend and slice him with a lightsaber!
-There are only a couple of cons in this game:
1. Only 2 players: It would be a lot more fun if it had 4 players instead of just 2.
2. The controls are touchy and it can get frustrating to aim at an enemy while he's blasting you away.
Overall, this is a great game. I'd say one of the best shooters for the X-Box aside from Halo.
It is an FPS....

Graphics 9/10: This game has great graphics but it doesn't use the full power of the Xbox.
Gameplay 5/10: If you want a good FPS then just get Halo. If you really want this game get it for PC. If you get it for PC, my friend says you can get third-person for guns and everything. If you get it for Xbox, you can only get 3P mode for the lightsaber.
Sound 0/10: You don't really hear much sound except for the gunshots and lightsaber swings.
Replay Value 0/10: Their is pretty much nothing to make you play this game again except multiplayer. The multiplayer is pretty boring. BTW I have never gotten the internet to work.
Overall 3.5: Gets old after a while.
It was green now blue

I first got this game about 2 years ago for computer. Back then, I had a really slow computer, and it didn't work right. I was so mad that I had wasted 40 dollars on it. It went on the shelf and waited there for 2 years. Now I have a better computer and play it all the time. The earlier reviewer said that the game was extremely difficult, not so. The guy must have obviously been a moron, and not been able to figure out the puzzles, because the game has an average difficulty, and if he wants it easier, he can play on Padawan. Anyway, the game is basically a first person shooter based game, where you go around blasting storm troopers, probe droids, and more. I suggest getting this game because I really enjoy playing it, and I want to get it for XBOX too.
