I play the arcade version all the time! And I am addicted to it. I can't wait till the XBox version comes out. Not too sure about the new characters (Spawn, Zelda,et al) but we'll see. The graphics are the best I've seen, it really adds a 3D element to the game. Sometimes it almost looks as though you are watching an 3D animated film. Each character is different with different skills, weapons and appearence. There are only one or two minor glitches, ie the weapon goes right through a person and doesn't register a hit, but those are small items. And the only other main annoyance is the Weaponmaster mode. You have to go through all diffent kinds of combats and often don't unlock anything at the end. It was very frustrating, a waste of time. And, of course, the female characters are all well endowed, very anatomically correct, so if you're some feminist ... you should stay away. One of my all time favorite games, and I've played games since the early days of Pac-man and Pong (wokka wokka).

Right game, wrong platform

The most intriguing aspect of SC2 is the inclusion of the console-specific special characters. That being the case, there is no cooler sword-wielding hero than Link, the GCN special character. Call me what you will, but seeing the little green dude go from 8-bit stabbing to crossing swords with the Soul Calibur crew will be the greatest joy in this game, even if Nintendo insists on reducing Link to a...little kid in their own games. I could get the game for multiple systems, I suppose, but don't you think that would be just a LITTLE overboard?

How can you say that Chris Schmell!

How can you say that the game is awesome when you haven't even seen it yet. Don't you realize that by rating the game so highly before you have actually had a chance to review it, you are in effect, bossting the sales of the game. If the game's sales are boosted inapproporiately, then the manufacturer will think that they created a good game. This means that future games that they create may not be very good because the baseline for criticism was ignorant!! In other words, every review that is unfounded, hurts the quality of the game industry as a whole and keeps better games from coming out! Keep it to yourself if you have no idea!!

Best Fighting Game of the Year

This games blows the rest of them out of the water. I own Tao Feng, Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive but nothing compares to this. The new characters, Spawn & Necrid are amazing. This is definately, a must buy. You will still be playing this for years to come.

I am writing this review after playing the japanese version of this game and I must say I'm impressed.I have played the original soul calibur on dreamcast. There are new characters Talim,Cassandra,Necrid,Raphael etc. and yes,Spawn(charac from another videogame). The character models are much more detailed and in high resolution and so are the stages. You can see their hair and clothes sway in the wind. Now those of you expecting a graphical feast like DOA3 might be slightly let down. But without comparing it to any other game, the graphics are still pretty solid.Sound quality is great.Sounds of blades clashing are realistic and the music fits the fighting very well. The fighting engine is much like the original SC.There is a nice intro movie as well. THE one good thing Namco has done is that it has retained most of those elements which made the original SC on dreamcast a hit(like multiple weapons and costumes, weapons master mode, museum mode, lots of unlockables).Another good thing about this game is that there are virtually no load times. All in all,a very worthy sequel.A good purchase.

Soul Calibur "the best game ever"

For any of you with a Sega Dreamcast, you know what I am talking about. The sole reason I bought a Dreamcast was for "Soul Calibur." With the soon-to-be released "Soul Calibur II" everyone will share a favorite game. I am disappointed at some of the characters, for example they didn't include Rock or his son Bangoo. However there are more characters that make up for it. For anyone that hasn't played the original "Soul Calibur" it makes no difference, just go out and buy "Soul Calibur II" because you don't have to play it to know that it will be the best game for Xbox giving some competition to Halo and Halo 2. I don't own a PS2, but i do know that the Tekken character still has his 10 hit combo, and Link is going to kick some serious [butt] on the GC, but Spawn and Nercid will blow them all away. And with all of the upgrades and advancements from the first one, Soul Calibur II will be an instant Classic for all of the game systems.

I bought a dreamcast shortly after its release in 1999, and bought the original Soul Caliber. 4 years later I'm still playing the original. I have never found a game that it so easy to learn, looks so good, and challenges you to master it. Almost every person I have ever known that did not like fighting games loved the original, from the sound to the music and graphics. I've played the Demo version of Soul Caliber 2, as well as seeing the intro off of the internet, and I must say I am very impressed and can not wait for the game to be officially released. If you like fighting games, from Stree Fighter II to Soul Edge to Tao Feng, you'll love this game. Its easy to get hooked on, but will still find ways to kick your butt after playing for a few years.

...this game been in the arcade for month, that version is incredible i can only imagine what the home system version is like, if they made it better than the arcade machine as they did for sega dreamcast soul calibur, wich is by far the best game other than halo. 5 stars greatest game of all time up there with chess and foosball.
