a decent '64 game

I have to say that this is one of the better RPGs for N64. Gameplay is lots of fun, and the linear nature makes it good for players of all ages. I don't like that there are few places to save the game though...

AWSOME!!!!

The game quest 64 is a game about a young boy named Brian who has to collect a book to save the world. In this rpg, you go around collecting elements to level up and defeat enemies for the same thing. This game is huge! It's amazing how satisfying this game is. You have fire, water, earth, and wind as the elements. As you level up, you gain more and more sweet attacks and spells at your disposal. Anyone that likes rpgs I strongly recomend this game.

A dull, repetitive and forgettable RPG.

One of the few RPGs for the Nintendo 64, in Quest 64 you take on the role of Brian, a young magician apprentice who is on a quest to save his father and recover a book of unspeakable power in order to save the world. This game, however, is also easily forgotten about. Most RPGs, such as Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG are usually among the best and most well known games the console has to offer. So why is Quest 64 forgotten about?

Quest 64 is without a doubt a highly rushed game. Many of the towns and castles contain few points of interests and have few items or secrets to find. There are absolutely no puzzles in the game, even in the forests and dungeons. Random battles are the bulk of the game.

Leveling up in the game and learning new spells is extremely tedious. Your spells are classified by element: Earth, Water, Fire and Wind and by finding things called "spirits" or by battling, you can level up these elements up to 50 and as you level the elements up, you learn new spells. However, you will need to fight many, many battles in order to do so. The same goes for increasing your other stats, such as HP and defense, except you have to get hit by the enemy's attack, which is also extremely tedious.

There is no money system in the game either. Instead, you are given things by people, finding them in chests or after battle. However, you are only given items from people if you do not already have that item, which can be annoying if you need more than one of an item.

However, the game does have a great battle system. Instead of staying in one place, you get to move around and dodge enemy spells. The enemies themselves are very cool looking and have various spells and abilities. However, they become extremely powerful very quickly, which will cause you to die quickly if you don't level up your stats.

But overall, most people will not enjoy this game. If you enjoy doing the same thing over and over again, you might like this, but you won't miss out on too much if you skip this game.

Good game

I am personally not a fan of RPGs like Final Fantasy, but this game provides the elements of RPGs lightly rather than full blown. Its a good game for those Zelda fans. One thing that does become tedious is the surprise battles and hidden enemies which pop up out of nowhere.

This game is a major let down

If you like RPG's, you may like this game, but I hated it! First, the battles are poorly performed. The frequency of the battles are annoying, you'll get tired of fighting the same easy villians over and over again. Not only that, but when you win a battle, it turns your character in a new direction. The story is uniform, you have to do everything in a certain order, completely taking out any form of exploration. The towns are pointless, you'll learn little from them. The bottom line is if you want a good RPG, buy a playstation and final fantasy 7 or 9.

ok not very fun not very replayable... first RGP out..

i didn't think it was very fun, interesting since it was the FIRST N64 RPG out, but technically.. it wasn't even an open ended role playing... i gave it away to a newphew who is 5... he probably will like it.

This game isn't that great. You can't buy idems witch i don't like. The magic isn't very good either. I found this game has barly any social contact and i really don't like that. I thought it was very long and boring. The enimies you fight are pretty dumb too. Overall I wouldn't recomend this game I didn't think is was very good.

This game could have been tons better

This game is a horrible game. It is really childish and I only recommend it for kids younger than 11. It can get nausiating and you get lost very easily. Also, it really doesn't help you find things so you are basicly guessing when you go place. The monsters are either very hard or easy. One of the worst factors in this game is that it is turn based. You get a hit and then the computer gets a hit. If you are fighting something more powerful than you, you don't even have a chance. Also, enemies pop out of nowhere. If you are trying to get someplace, you can always count on being stopped by more than 10 enemies on your way there. It is not Zelda or even Ogre Battle. This game is horrible, spend your money on a worthwhile game.

I'll give them an E for effort

In my opinion, the only thing this game has going for it is that it didn't have any competition in the field of RPGs until the Zelda action RPGs. The developers of this game should be ashamed of themselves for creating this. I bought the game a couple of years ago and it still sits there and collects dust. I probably played it for four hours or so and put it away. I want those four hours back that I wasted. Nevermind, I would just waste them anyways.

A Failed RPG

Overall, I'd say this game should be sold for about $10.00. It hs a horrible plot, and it is terribly easy. It is also very easy to run around in circles. There is nothing worse than having to thwack somone with your stick because you ran out of magic as well. There is no insanely destructive spell to use on helpless enemies. Spend your money elsewhere on better games, like Perfect Dark 64.
