Awesome, but painful game

I love every Mario Party game. They are great games to play with a small group of friends. You have to play the game a lot before you can get sick of it, which is nice. This one is very silimar to the other five Mario party games that are out right now. Personally, this one is my least favorite of the 6. In some of the minigames, you need to spin the joystick in circles VERY fast to win...I guess if you don't get too into the game it'd be alright, however I played too many of the spinning games in a row and I had a pretty big, not to mention painful, blister in the middle of my hand for a week or so and was handicapped from playing for a little while. I would advise people to buy a sequel to Mario Party if you enjoy painfree gaming.

very addictive!

This game is great and has excellent sound and graphics. It is great for people of all ages and is a game the whole family can play. The object of the game when playing an adventure is to have the most stars. To play an adventure, you select a map (such as mario's castle or wario's battle canyon) and pick what character you want to be (mario, luigi, peach, wario, DK, yoshi). You also select certain settings such as the number of turns and the computer player's skill level. It is kind of like board game. There are 4 players in a game (computer characters are used if there is less than 4 people). Each person rolls the dice, or should I say jump up to hit it, and moves the number of spaces. You can also can make decisions like which route to take to get stars. Anyway, depending on where they land, they can get a small number of coins, lose coins, or play a 1player mini-game. After each person has a turn, there is a mini-game, a small game in which you defeat (or sometimes cooperate with) other players or gain coins. You can then buy stars from Toad, who will be somewhere on the map. At the end of the game, the person with the most stars is the super star. Everyone's coins go into the bank, where you can buy items that make the gameplay more fun. Although playing regular games (adventure) is the main feature of the game, there are other things you can do, such as go to mini-game island or to the stadium. This is truly a great and addictive game. I recommend that any N64 players that enjoy mario games rent it and try it out.

The Game Most Unpopular with Dermatologists

In Mario Party, you take control of one of six Nintendo characters (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, or Donkey Kong) and move around a board as if you were playing a board game. After each turn, you play a minigame. At the end of the minigame, the winner(s) get coins. The coins can then be used to buy stars from Toad. Sometimes you run into Bowser, who does something random, but never helps anyone. The winner is the character with the most stars at the end of a set amount of turns. A true original by Nintendo. However, there is a major problem with the controls...

As you may have heard, there are minigames in Mario Party that require rotating the control stick. Doing this can lead to blisters on the palm of your hand. In fact, Nintendo realized this and was almost about to recall every copy of Mario Party. But instead, Nintendo released a statement to the public that they would send a glove to prevent blisters if you send them the cover of Mario Party's instruction manual.
I realize that there are many people out there that do not want to go through the hassle of having to do more than buying the game in order to play the game. Specifically, the people who usually lose the instruction manual to their games the second after they open the box. In this case, how is the person going to be able to get the glove if they could not provide the object that Nintendo was looking for? Nintendo should have found some other way to distribute the gloves. A way that would allow anyone who has the game, and cannot keep track of everything, get there hands on, or in, a glove.

Nintendo should have noticed this defect and corrected it before releasing Mario Party. But don't let that stop you from buying it. It's still a great game; just don't forget to buy a glove!

An AWESOME game!

I had a N64 back then in 1998, so I got this game. It is great!

GAMEPLAY:WOW! GREAT GAMEPLAY! There's awesome characters (Donkey Kong, Peach, etc.) and the game is like a little electronic gameboard. with a dice, and spaces (lots) that you can trust.

MINIGAMES: Great minigames! There's SHYGUY SAYS, a game where you'r supposed to press whatever button he tells you. And a game which you can make a treasure chest come to you.

GRAPHICS: Pretty good for an N64 game, the only other N64 game that had grat graphics was PERFECT DARK.

SOUND: Great. Pretty great for an "old" game.

OVERALL GRADE: A+

So If you have an N64, then get this game!

World's Cheapest Game

The solo game is the cheapest, most annoying game to play. The computer flat out cheats, and it's totally agonizing to watch the computer play it's mini games and take their endless turns.

With some friends, it's more fun since you can make fun of each other when you lose. If fact, I'll only play that can with at least two other people. I suggest a rental as long as you have a group of friends to play with.

Traditionally, a player plays a game. In Mario Party, the game plays you

I bought Mario Party used for nearly twenty bucks, and it was a total waste (I've since exchanged it for two games I love). The favorable reviews here were what suckered me into buying Mario Party, by the way. Whether you're playing solo or with a group, there is NO skill required in this game. The game rolls the die for you each turn, and the steps you move on the board are obviously based on those rolls. Traditionally, a player plays a game. In Mario Party, the game plays you, and therefore, you have little to no control over how the game unfolds. A game without skill is a game best left unplayed. At least, that's my belief. This game spawned at least six sequels; I'm sure it's because people wrongfully assume that everything Mario-related is heaven-sent. Avoid this game. I'm not too keen on N64 games in general, but there were a few nice ones. Laugh if you want, but Pokemon Puzzle League was one of those few. It has some beautiful FMV scenes in between each round beaten, hand-drawn anime backgrounds during the in-game puzzle portion, and tons of side games. I'm not a big fan of the show, but I do recognize when a game has a lot of time and effort put into it. Mario Party isn't one of those kinds of games.

I'm glad I returned Mario Party for Rayman 2 and Pokemon Puzzle League.

This game is horrible. First, I bought this video "game" because I thought it was fun. Well in wasn't. 1st, the graphics are poor. 2nd the computer's difficulty level is so hard. If you play with one, two, or three people, you always lose. The computer is WAY more expirenced than a human will ever be, and it just degrades from the fun factor. So ignore the reviews that say it is so great. They are overexxagerating. My 8-year-old brother got bored with it in 3 hours.

One of the lamest games out there!

Video games have always been a big dispointment to me. In this game we have Mario and the gang going through silly mazes, races, and they even have sack racing! I've seen the previews for this game, and it looked very childish! One of the lamest games since Sonic Adventure for Sega Dreamcast!

Also, the characters in this game all walk, run, and bounce around like Teletubbies! If you have a 5 or 6 year old he/she might like this one! It's for little kids to enjoy!
