well done but who has the time

fun for a bit but who has the time to play these games? Obviously there are a bunch of under- or unemployed people/students who can find 40 hrs/week to level up their characters. Not as much fun if you only want to play a few hours a week.

Best MMORPG out there...

I've tried all the MMORPGs that are currently shipping. I played AC for almost 3 years, I started playing DAoC when it came out. And I flowed between AC and DAoC. I was all set to give up DAoC when AC2 and Shadowbane came out.

However, those two games just showed me how much better the game play was in DAoC.

Camelot reigns supreme

Superior graphics. Stability. Separate windows for chat and battlespam. No /shout or /broadcast except in towns and cities. An excellent looking-for-group system. Tradeskills produce items that are not just important but necessary for higher levels. Guild emblems. Horses. Frontier forts and player-crafted siege weaponry to attack them and conquer them. Realm vs. Realm not Player vs. Player: warfare for the defence and glory of the Realm, not pointless player-killing. These are the things that show Dark Age of Camelot to be far better than the other games of the genre. It really re-defines the genre: no MMORPG after this will succeed without RvR.

Hi there.

I'm a level 50 in this game. I'm the highest you can be and I've been with this game since beta. I've played ALL previous MMORPGS and i've helped write ALL the Prima strategy guides for this game and some others. I know what I'm talking about.

The problem with the negative reviewers is that the majority of the players are generally not mature or intelligent enough to have a broad perspective on balance.

These sort of players have a limited scope of game design and balance; they know only what they have experienced, yet generalize the entire game by their personal circumstances.

That being said, I can generalize myself and say that 95% of the complaints on this game that I've read are horribly innacurate.

My opinion of the game:

Few people know it better than I do.

MMORPG's these days are generational, meaning that there are first, second and third generation games.

Ultima online was first generation. 2d graphics and sprite based.

Everquest, still popular, was second generation and the first massive online rpg that was three dimensional.

Asherons Call is in the second generation along with EQ.

Then Anarchy Online came out and could for all intensive purposes, be called a second and a half generation.

Dark age of Camelot is a 3rd generation game. It takes the best parts from its predesessors and attempts to remove the negatives.

However, it is *not* in the same league as EQ. The game design is far superior and if graphics are a concern, EQ is simply antiquated.

The quantity of fun i've had on this game surpasses any amount of fun I've had on EQ/AO/DAOC/UO combined.

Folks, there is a 1 month free policy, give it a shot. Simply, if you don't like it..don't pursue paying for it, but don't condemn the game off of ignorant comments made by teenagers who couldn't handle the lack of instant gratification.

Beta tester who can't say enough about this game!

As a beta tester for this game for the last few months I can tell you that fans of MMPORPG are in for a treat and Evercrack addicts have a new dealer to get a fix from. Camelot is truly a new generation of fantasy online game. It takes everything that is great about EQ and UO and brings in effective questing and PvP that works. The graphics are awesome! It's great to finally have a game that can take over the mantle of best online game and give us all a new world of challenges.

Unexciting

DAoC does indeed have nice graphics, and the game is at least stable. But what it gains in development, it loses in concept. The game is unexciting and geared towards making it possible for anyone to win regardless of skill. If you get beaten too often in other games and can't figure out why it's not changing, DAoC is a great place to get back some self-esteem.

My God!- DAoC is by far the best RPG of any sort out there. If you liked EQ-look out, this game tramples it! There are tons of features spells monsters and styles of gameplay.

First, the gameplay is spectacular. It's easy to play, but complicated enough so that it doesn't get boring. Overall it is very smooth, and the graphics are great. I liked EQ, but immediately quit my account when I saw this game. Spells look much cooler that in EQ, and battles are fun and there are lots of skills you can use during them.

You can play many different ways. You can fight monsters, gaining experience and money, advancing higher and higher through the levels. Or you can become a pvp rvr player. Here, you group up with your guilds and realm and try to conquer the land in other realms and defend yours. Most of the time there are many people better than you on the battlefield, but it still great fun and you get into it. You can also go on many quests, given by NPC's or players. They are great fun and have good rewards. Also, almost every NPC has a task to give you if you ask, kinda a shorter version of quests.

The three realms, Albion, Herbernia, and Midgard are all great. Though cool and fun to play, Hibernia is my least favorite realm. However, this might just be me, and other may love them. This is the realm most based on magic, which sometimes becomes a burden, but at others its great. Hibernia may be the best for personal gain, but that isn't what this game is about. Some of the classes are druids, scouts, and heroes.

Next is Albion, my second favorite group. They have the most base classes, including elementalists and mages. Later on they can become paladins and armsmen. This is the realm of Arthur, and is also a lot of fun. Their classes are very well balanced, and they have some of the best quests.

My favorite realm by far is Midgard. This is the realm of trolls, dwarves, and mischiveous kokbolds. The later classes consist of Thanes, powerful warriors who also have weather-controlling spells, Hunters, people of the land capable of taming many animals, and Shadowblades, quiuet, stealthy rouges quite capable of sneaking in pvp. This realm has my favorite landscape, the coolest monsters, and, in my opinion, the coolest races and classes. Trolls look cooler and cooler as you go on, and dwarves look awesome too. But, there may be people who don't like this realm, though if they are, that's not right.

All in all, you have to get tis game- it's all pros and no cons!

This Game Blows EQ Away!

The people who developed this game are clearly catering to the Everquesters who've had enough of the juvenile banter, constant waiting and just plain awful programming that takes away from the promise of what EQ was supposed to be. DAoC was designed around the convenience and desire of the players, NOT the programmers. While I admit that both games are highly addictive and that EQ was very fun (10% of the time), I'd like to at least suggest that anyone who enjoyed EQ at all take a shot at this game. I think they'll find it's much better, graphically, soundwise and it moves at a much faster pace. It's also better as far as looting and PvP, where EQ falls completely flat on its face. I know that EQ is coming out with Luclin in December, but Luclin is just a new paint job. It doesn't really solve the problems with looting, meditating, waiting, waiting, waiting and just hours and hours of wasted time.

My God..Well, if you rated this game lower than 4 stars..Don't talk to me..In fact, tape your mouths shut. This game is possibly the greatest MMORPG of ALL time. It rules over EverQuest in every which way, providing great support and by using their profits to make the game better for everyone. Kudos to the developers. The multiple realms, and realm vs. realm battles are amazing. The war is realistic, and the classes are enticing. Just looking at the box should make you want to play it. If that doesn't do it, look at some Screen shots, otherwise, don't bother even THINKING about this game. It's time consuming..The developers are attempting to take over the world with this game, stealing our free time with their innovative stories, races, and everything else that makes this game near perfection..The reason it isn't perfect? Nothing is " Perfect ", but I would think so.

This game is just EQ2 with [cruddy] graphics

I really wanted to like this game but if you have played EQ and quit because you were bored out of your mind, this is not the game for you. Dont listen to all the fanbois saying how this game is the next great thing in MMOG, its just a formula game, following EQ's formula. If you are sick and tired of a level treadmill then you'll be sorely disappointed with DAoC. If you want to use your computer for other things while playing DAoC such as AIM, email, or web browsing, well you can't while playing this clone.

I wanted this game to replace EQ which has become a soul destroying waste of time but it just doesnt make the grade. If you already have AC or EQ, then save your cash for something else because DAoC is just [like] other MMOGs.
