Strategic, innovative, but very niche

This game is going to appeal mostly to a very specific audience, but it's flexible and interesting enough to be appealing to a fairly wide audience if they give it a try. It might even serve as a good entry for some into the tactical/strategic gaming genre.

MG:Acid is reminiscent of Final Fantasy: Tactics, or Tactics: Ogre, or even the Front Mission series. Tactical turn-based play with a sort of 'card' system to commit actions and equipment to play. It's fairly innovative and very interesting, and the MG storylines are always pretty involved. The missions (so far) have been fun and not excessively long (clearly designed with portable gaming in mind.)

Some will dislike the fact that the game has steered away from real-time, full freedom gaming, but I think MG:Acid really focusses on the essence of the game, distilling gameplay to the tactical level and combining it with excellent graphics.

The audio leaves something to be desired, and the gameplay won't appeal to everyone, but I believe that this title will definitely provide good solid entertainment and be a precursor to many similar games to come. Give it a whirl, you probably won't be disappointed.

Well...

i got this game along with my psp due to it being a release game, but also because it was getting rave reviews. Now let me tell you it does not live up to the hype, but it does give off some innovative gameplay. I'm not saying this game is bad but, it does loose intrest once you die a couple of times. so overall this is decent game to get, and a great one if you like card based games.

Different than the ps2 games but still awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game starts of with an awsome storyline as usual with Metal Gear games, but after it becomes a totaly new experience. Being a completely different game there is a tutorial at the beginning which is pretty helpful, but could explain more than just the basic movements in the game. The game may be a turn-based strategy card game but it still focuses on stealth like the old Metal Gear games we all love. U can still knock on walls and the guards still use the alert mode and evasion mode to catch you. I loved the short cut scenes everytime you use a weapon, also the character cards are really awsome, like metal gear ray. Overall i loved this game, and even though it is different i think konami successfuly made the transition into the portable game market

Good for a change of pace from other metal gear titles

This is a really good strategy game, it is also quite difficult you should definetly get a few hours of gameplay out of it. I reccommend it to anyone who likes strategy games....especially card strategy.

This is a very fun game!!

You have to get used to the controls and be pretty patient. You kinda have to be good at figuring out how to trick the enemy and be sneaky. Once you figure out the controls and what the cards do, the game is very fun. It took me an hour just to past the first mission but after that all the other missions seems easier. Overall I wouold recomend this game. Excelent graphics.

This Game Blows!

I bought this on launch day thinking it was a action shooter game. There is no action in the game...literally! It's all about strategy. Making the right choices, keeping quiet, etc. You and your enemy take turns moving or firing at each other. This game absolutely stinks. A waste of time and money.

not recomended

this game is not what i had expected it to be. meaning a first person shooter like halo, u manuever around the game using cards for movement, shooting, climbing and such. there is no pressing r to shoot the gun and moving is generated with cards that you use in turn with the enemy. The graphics blew me away,
yet i am still going to trade this in for nfl street unleashed which i reccomend.

Excellent!!!!

I really enjoy this game. I finding it hard to put it away at times because it's so addicting. I also like the fact that it's card based. It's too bad the people that are buying this game thinking it's a FPS never looked at a review or any other coverage on this game before buying it. To those: "You have no one to blame but yourselves."

Odd way to play a MGS game, but i'm still happy

The reason I heard the Metal Gear series went strategy was cause the UMD on the PSP could not hold detailed enviorments for long. But to the game it is amazing!!! I am a long time fan of the series aince it came out. I am a kid who buys these games so what! Overall it is great but it should have been a bit better.

What were they thinking?

Every other Metal Gear game was fun all the way back to NES... but MGS 2 was annoying for the HORRIBLE kiddish love story they threw in with their 2 hour cutscenes... That pissed me off. Now this. Im sorry, but id say a majority of Metral Gear fans are very disapointed with this game... TURN BASED?!? what were they thinking? I guess there a few who have the patience to deal with that, but im not one of them. I personally didnt but the game, but I borrowed it from someone to check it out to see if the turn based thing was as bad as it sounded... and yep, it was. DO NOT THINK THIS IS A SHOOTER. OMG, LieK I HAV 13 HP and YOU HAvE 9 I WIN!!! jesus, whoever came up with that concept should be shot.
