Odd way to play a MGS game, but i'm still happy

The reason I heard the Metal Gear series went strategy was cause the UMD on the PSP could not hold detailed enviorments for long. But to the game it is amazing!!! I am a long time fan of the series aince it came out. I am a kid who buys these games so what! Overall it is great but it should have been a bit better.

Playing this just didn't feel natural or fun.

This is a review from someone who had never played a card game, so if you are a (...) munch card game fan you don't need to read this. I have played just about every incarnation of Metal Gear from the first NES game to the GB versions. After MGS2 I had lost a little faith in the series but MGS3 brought me right back into the fold. So I bought Acid for my PSP even though I had never played a card game before. What can I say? The story seemed fine. The visuals were fresh. Even the music sounded really cool. So why did I pretty much give up on it after several hours of playing it? It just wasn't enjoyable. If you have never played a card game before and are wondering what this game is like, try imagining this. You have to walk across the room you are in and open a door. Sounds pretty simple right? Ok, now imagine that you can only move a few footsteps at a time. This is slowed down by the fact that everyone else in the room can't move while you are moving and vice versa (and they are all moving a few footsteps at a time too). Now then every time you move you have to pick the direction you want to go in and the direction you want to face when you stop moving. Alright let me sum this up for you. You FINALLY get to the other end of the room after about 10 minutes (granted you are not spotted, have fallen asleep while playing or were hiding for prolonged periods of time). Maybe there are people out there who think this type of slowed down, painfully planned out locomotion is invigorating, but not me. I am a get things done kind of guy. I don't need 10 hours to "strategize" on how to how to move from point A to point B. My cerebellum takes care of redundant movements for me, so I don't have to worry about it. It was frustrating because you constantly know what you need to do but there was no way to get around the fact that it was going to take forever to do it. Wait for a real MG adventure or get Splinter Cell (planned for the PSP).

not recomended

this game is not what i had expected it to be. meaning a first person shooter like halo, u manuever around the game using cards for movement, shooting, climbing and such. there is no pressing r to shoot the gun and moving is generated with cards that you use in turn with the enemy. The graphics blew me away,
yet i am still going to trade this in for nfl street unleashed which i reccomend.

Beware!

This game is not MGS. It is some type of strange RPG/Card game. Wish I would have done my research before buying.

Guess this game will appear to some people but not those who like MGS. Total misrepresentation. Wish I could get my money back. Guess we have to wait for the game developers to take some chances on the PSP and produce good games. Maybe the PSP2 will have better games.

What were they thinking?

Every other Metal Gear game was fun all the way back to NES... but MGS 2 was annoying for the HORRIBLE kiddish love story they threw in with their 2 hour cutscenes... That pissed me off. Now this. Im sorry, but id say a majority of Metral Gear fans are very disapointed with this game... TURN BASED?!? what were they thinking? I guess there a few who have the patience to deal with that, but im not one of them. I personally didnt but the game, but I borrowed it from someone to check it out to see if the turn based thing was as bad as it sounded... and yep, it was. DO NOT THINK THIS IS A SHOOTER. OMG, LieK I HAV 13 HP and YOU HAvE 9 I WIN!!! jesus, whoever came up with that concept should be shot.

Biggest rip-off I've experienced

This is a card game for nerds, not for those seeking a first game shooter. Stay the hell away from this game unless you want to read for an hour rather than actually play a video game.

way is it a card game ?

when i played this game i was overly impresed with the grapics but i was so fustrated with the game play cause you can only move so far and you never seam to get a assult rifle card when you need it that leves you being a sitting duck and you cant get a good enough view of the battle area the only fun part is watching the shootin ainamations. And why is a dam card game they have all the controls nessery to make a normal metal gear solid game. this game is vary fustrating if you like action games DONT buy this game it just aint what its cracked up to be. shure you can buy this if you want i aint telling you what to do remember this is only my opinuen do what you want its your money not mine.

I would rather suck on a urinal puck than play this piece of crap!!!

By the way, the title of my review is from Adam Sessler from the T.V. show on G4 Tech T.V. called XPlay. Anyway, this game is the biggest insult to the Metal Gear series. If you want to play a card based game that is more horrible than this........wait, there is no card based game that is worse than this!!! YuGiOh rocks compared to this garbage!!! I could get more satisfaction out of something that left my body and is now in the toilet, if you know what I mean!!!! So the bottom line is...... DO NOT BUY!!! IT SUCKS MAJOR MONKEY TAIL!!!! Peace Out in da shizzy, yo!!!

This Game Blows!

I bought this on launch day thinking it was a action shooter game. There is no action in the game...literally! It's all about strategy. Making the right choices, keeping quiet, etc. You and your enemy take turns moving or firing at each other. This game absolutely stinks. A waste of time and money.

The worst portable game ever!!!!!

I am a huge Metal Gear fan. The reason I play the game is to experience an action game. This game has been down graded to a deck of cards. Instead of real time movement of the player you have to use one of a few available cards that control your movements. You lose some of the best aspects of the game. The graphics are first rate. That is the only good part of the game. Finally, the endless conversations between the different characters make game play near impossible.
