Slow game, but very addictive

I like games like CIVILIZATION that take hours and hours and hours to play. While I adore this game, I must say that it's a bit slow before anything really starts to happen. You can build your zoo, but it takes a while. Then you have to wait before you start to really build up your number of visitors. About the only thing you can really do is over extend yourself, because they won't come if you don't have fun things for them to do. Doesn't matter how many baby animals you have, nor how many varieties, it seems they won't show up if you don't have a bunch of shops, places to eat and (Yep!) BATHROOMS! They don't like not having places to go pee and surprisingly this one factor can make or break you.

Once you get a following, I do like how the game seems to progress. Though after a while, it gets very redundant. If you're going to play this game, you better have the expansion packs. You'll need it to maintain your excitement level.

Ok so I got this game for my b-day only to find out it wouldn'tload because of the kind of graphics card it has. So i tried it on our lap top and it worked.
what it needs:
Ok making the exibit fences is way to hard. I mean I like the way you place them in the first one.
the animals always need more space. The biome thing is weird.And I don't think the graphics are that good either. the controls were to hard tyo figure out. this game was a big disepotment.
the few good things:
first person and phopto sarfi were pretty cool
Over all this game is not worth your money.

I wouldn't buy this game for kids under 8, unless you intend to sit and help them with it. BUT, I have loved playing with them and think it's a blast!

I bought this game so that me and my 4 year old could play a game together. GTA is not this kind of game, if you know what I mean. My boy and I love to play, me for the design, and him for the animals.

I have the first Zoo Tycoon, but the second is by farrrrr the BEST!!!! I love animals and now on the game I can get sooo much closer to them!! I also like how there are sooo many new building tools!!!!

i love this game i got it for x-mas it is so funny when you let a lion loose everbody start's to crermsing help help lion 1 is chassing me an then thay say i don't like this zoo.and on safarie mode you get to take photo's huv animals and peaple its so much fun. but....then dont have dog like animals.well hope you like it

Attention!
Don't tycoon games bore you after a while? You buy them, play them, get bored of them, and soon buy the update, and so on and on, etc. Well, Zoo Tycoon has a reputation for being one of those games. If you ever have played games like Roller Coaster Tycoon or the Sims, you'll get what I'm getting at.

For instance, my history with tycoon games. Chritmas 2002 when I was 8. I got Roller Coaster Tycoon after going on my first Roller Coaster and exclaiming that I wanted to make them. Then, the following month during my birthday, the expansion packs turn up.
Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 shows up. I upgrade to that. I spend my money on the expansion packs, Roller Coaster Tycoon is gathering dust rapidly on the shelves.
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is made. You can guess what my reaction was and what happened to the former played with Roller Coaster Tycoon 2.
That's right. Dust.

The same thing happened with the Sims and Zoo Tycoon. I had all those dinky expansion packs for the Sims and sold the lot for 350 bucks on Ebay. Same with Roller Coaster Tycoon, for 150, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, for 200. Zoo Tycoon I kept for my little brother and while he enjoys that I'm playing with my happily upgraded Zoo Tycoon 2.

So, parents, you want to have an experience like this? Be my guest.

I got started on these with roller coaster tycoon, which I still think for the time was/is the best of them all. Somewhere I saw a bundle with the latest roller coaster tycoon, and this one, which was about the same price as this one alone. A better deal I think, but this is still good.
