this game is the best game ever it is a must get!!!

you folow the story of ryo hazuki his father was killed and it is up to him (you)to avenge his death.

the graphics are ace the whole game is totaly brilliant i have NO complaints at all!!!!

this game is the best adventure game ever. you need to be a good problem solver, a gamer with alot of time, a good video game fighter and have the patience to do the complex tasks and not get fustrated.

i recomend this game to any one, apart from the violence junkies who just want action and fighting (which there is some of, you just can't walk up to anyone and hit them on the game)

Please don't be fooled by the reviews before me like I was. The graphics are okay, good for the PS2 but below average for the Xbox. The storyline is flat, the dubbing is horrendous! (and you can't skip the VErY frequent and LENGTHY scenes) Half of the game is doing menial tasks (working at a dock and lifting boxes for minimal money at length so that you can afford your hotel, and carrying stacks of books outside for a temple library for hlaf of the "day" quite a few times) The fighting is infrequent and subpar and many moves only give you one shot to learn or you will never have another chance. There are certain figures you can collect that will taek you some time to get but they don't unlock any secrets, they just give you the satisfaction of having them I guess. The only good part about this game was the button reflex sequences (can't remember the official name) because it was fun to test your reflexes and see what you did if you got it right. But, those BRS's didn't make u for the... MOVEMENT! OMFG! It was like trying to fire and egg on a block of ice in -20 degree temperatures. It became a game (a very horrible game) in itself just trying to get in doors. If you walked to far you would have to turn, but no, you can't just turn left or right, you have to turn full around. Then you have to try and make a perfect arch into the doorway or you'll be their for another 5 minutes dancing in circles. After playing this game I hoped that the free movie that came with it would be good and would make me less angry. Let me tell you something. This movie was not anime, it was not even what I would consider 3D graphics. It was like playing FF7 with slightly better graphics, a much worse storyline, and their was no gameplay. Nothing made up for the little effort put into everything about this game. I give this game a 1. Please, save your money for Fable if you really need a good RPG/Fighter, I'm sure waiting for Fable to be released will be more fun than actually playing this game.

Now THIS GAME I COULD NOT WAIT FOR!! LOL. Seriously after I beat Shenmue 2 I was like looks like im going for Lan Di on part 2. So I was really hyped up about this game. The graphics are better than ever. Alot more people you interact with, and alot more fighting scences. This game is off deeeee H0000k.

Both games are great!

Both the games are great. If you are going to buy the game, play the first Shenmue on Dreamcast. If you do, and you complete the game, you will love it. Its definetly worth the money. The only reason I bought an Xbox was for this game.

This is the best game i have ever played for Dreamcast,when I played it I realized how much effort can ppl put in a game.
its so cool that i didnt sleep till I finished SHENMUE.
Its an excellent game that has a lot of options,you can go whereever you want kicking some ass using martial arts of course,you can even work!and i dont mean a boring work.
Well,i give this game a 5 stars rating because i had alot of fun playing it.It would be great if this saga could be in PS2....i want to buy a PS2 but now that i know that shenmue 3 and all the rest of Shenmue are going to be in X-box i cant decide about which console to buy.

I can barely explain how excellent this game is, Shenmue is just plain and simple a true masterpiece, everything is SOOOOOO real that u will feel like u are part of the town that u live in. Events are real, if someone wants u at the arcade a 3:00 pm, then u better be there at 3:00 pm or u will probably miss some important information about ur father's killer. You can train on ur own and make urself a better fighter, and u can strain specific moves to make THEM stronger. The music in Shenmue will blow u away, it pulls u even more into the game.
QTE's are all throughout the game and i heard there are way more of them in shenmue 2. (example of a qte) A bad guy is coming at u on a motorcycle, a button flashes on the screen, whatever that button is u have to hit it in less than a second, if u succeed, the (movie-like scene) will go into slowmotion and u will execute a very nice move and kick him off his bike, on the other side if u are too slow, or push the wrong button, he will run u over, and qte can span up to how many ever buttons with u going through a whole bunch of bad guys like a mix of steven segal and jet li. And we can't forget the free battle, that's when u have a regular fight with alot of dudes that want to beat u down, and there are TONS of moves to choose from, this game is perfect. SHENMUE IS AND WILL BE THE BEST SAGA EVER MADE. I feel sorry for anyone who misses or can't get a hold of this perfect piece of art........and i haven't even played 2 yet!

This is the best game I have ever played. I own it for Dreamcast, but everyone tells me the Xbox version will be EVEN BETTER!!! You take the role of Ryo Hazuki, a late-teens/early-twenties year old guy whose father was murdered by the mysterious Lan Di. Basically you have to avenge your father's death. This game starts where Shenmue left off(an entire dvd movie will be added with the game to help people who didn't play the first game catch up!!!).In Shenmue 2 you can play minigames such as gambling, arm wrestling, HANG ON,ect. EXCELLENT PLOT, AMAZING GRAPHICS, GREAT VOICE ACTING, COOL MINI GAMES, A SUPERB MASTERPIECE!!!

I can't beleave they still mad this game so slow. And plus the main character moves like a robot. And I know they could have touched up on the graphics just a little.

This was a great RPG game. This is the only kind of RPG I can play. I really don't like most other RPG's requiring you to learn a new language, fight every other scene, etc. etc. Its like playing Starwars, without any weapons. (I hated all the Starwars movies!)

I do, though, enjoy this type of game though! I love the games that give us a beautiful, well known city as the backdrop (Max Payne, Fear Effect 1 and 2, Spiderman, Shenmue 1 and 2, etc.)with a great mix of gameplay, and exploration. This is my favorite type of RPG style game.

I give this game two gamer thumbs up!!! Awesome!!!

This game is amazing i could'nt find any other u gotta buy this awesome game. it has all the things u might need in any game, fighting puzzles and controller moves (pressing X,A,Y,B, right, up, down and left. Big D of course is Don u (thats not how u spell it) your arch nemesis along with ren your gang leader partner who helps you by bunchs. Fighting is extrordinary people bunch around u and fight, its great so fun u just gotta gget this game it put into a whole other level of gaming. this game will change the way u play video games!
