Great game, and very realistic, but a few very annoying features.
What is the point of saving up kudos to buy/unlock new cars if you are stuck with a limited selection for the level you are at? I saved all my kudos and blew the wad on the Enzo Ferrari so I could blow the compact convertible class (third tier) out of the water, but guess what? You can only use a car within it's respective class... so the best you can do on that level is get a lame BMW or Boxter, and let me tell you, if you can win the Gold class it's amazing, forget about the Platinum. The cars at the top level not only drive in flawless lines without mistakes, they are all against you. For example, in the street race mode at gold or platinum levels, you start at the back of the pack, then the first two cars speed off at perfect pace while the other 5 cars will basically slam on their brakes in front of you to stop you... it's unrealistic that they wouldn't try to win the race rather than all work together to stop you.
I'm not one to cruise through games in "God-mode", but I don't like the limited kudos/reward system. What if I want to race one of the nicer cars without putting in hundreds and hundreds of races to get there? Other than these limitations though, it is a very enjoyable game with increadible realism and quality graphics.

So far I have only been playing this game for a couple hours but I already like it better than the original. The sound, especially of the cars, is a lot better. The graphics are a tad better also. Controlling the cars is a little harder compared to PGR but I think more realistic. I also love the showrooms and garage, how you can walk around in them looking at the cars you have or are for sale. You can even test drive some cars in the showroom... nothing like taking a brand new Ferrari and blowing some donuts as you redline it. I also like having Chicago in the game now, from what I can see it looks like a pretty acurate representation, seeing many places I have been. Great game. I am sure it will give me countless hours of enjoyment like the first one did. Can't wait to get online after I practice some and see how I rank and what will be available for download. So basically if you really enjoyed playing the first one like I did, I am pretty sure you will like this one.

If you have an Xbox, you really have to concider getting this this. Some say it has bad controls, but that is not true. It uses real physics, so on most turns you need to do a "power slide". Once you learn the physics of them, which doesn't take very long, it is simple, easy, and fun. You can do many other things like draft other cars, and it has a realistic damage program. Even liscense plates can fly off! It also has an HUGE variety of cars of different classes that u can buy through playing the fairly simple but fun single player mode. It also has one of the best Xbox Live experiences I have ever seen. People have also thought of some interesting games other than just racing to throw some extra playing hours into it. If you don't have it and have Xbox Live, you REALLY need to get Project Gotham Racing 2.

This title is simply a Gem. A fun factory. At the price of $20 or below, buying this title is like getting away with armed robbery at a bank. Bizarre creations and Microsoft Game Studios took home the whole wedding cake with Project Gotham Racing 2. I found this game so good that I had to go back to the store to buy several more copies of it for select family members and colleagues that have a need for speed. If you get to play it online against other ADULTS, it might just hook you for at least a week and you might find yourself playing online as soon as getting home from work for a little while as I did. I still can't believe I did that. This game is not a simulation game, it's not a Gran Turismo killer, nor does it try to be; it's simply an addictive arcade racing game. With a decent TV and component cables, you can appreciate the great graphics this game has to offer. Hook it up to a surround sound system and you're THERE. The music is great too but you can load your own favorite tunes to listen to while you burn some rubber, lead the pack and [...] your pants. This is the only game ever, besides Need For Speed 3: Hot pursuit, that I can just turn on and let the music play like a radio. Specifically, the showroom music in PGR2, while I have a drink and take care of different things around the living room on Friday nites. If you have an Xbox and a need for speed that the law can't let you safisty in the real world, step into PGR2 and quench your thirst. This game is highly recommended.

This game has the best sound, graphics and cars. Also J Cournyer who said we just judge it by the graphics, he's just saying that because he hates the game, but me myself, i have plenty of experience because i have 10 racing games. Now lets get back to business, this game is great but there was one flaw in the graphics but they were ok, the 1 thing was they made the brake lights too bright. Also the computer cars do the turns at higher speeds, like one car did a sharp turn at 45 or 50mph and i had to do it at 20 or 30mph, but it has great cars Including my favorites Acura, Lambergini however you spell it and Porche. It has almost every car there is going down to toyota to the supercar ferrari. Also the cars are divided into slow cars, coupes, convertibles, supercars and gt YOU HAVE TO UNLOCK THEM ALL, but not the slow cars. They also featured the chevy ssr cadillac xlr and Acura's new supercar. The 1 thing i didn't like was the cone challenge, i was going 20mph throughout the whol track as if i was in a school zone. You have to have a small car with good turning for that. I also liked the damage Your lights can go out, windows can crack and break and even your license plate falls off. Also J Cournyer all the tracks aren't short, they have this 1 german track that is about 30 or 40 miles long. I also got the Ferrari Enzo, that car is very fast an the controller shakes all the time like when it hits bumps and everything else, its as if you were really driving. The controler shakes all the time because the Enzo has low profile tires and i spun out into the grass once because i was on a sharp turn and my tires lost grip, and i mean they did a good job with the graphics, grass and dirt was on my car and tires. They also did good with the weather, snow rain but i didn't like it when the wipers didn't move, but i like how it makes he drizzle of rain that comes from your tires. The lights are also good, they have xenon lights for the ferrari's bmw's and other cars then they have the regular lights for the toyotas and chevy's. I know this review is super long so but pgr2, you won't be sorry.

This is one awesome racing game for the Xbox. The graphics are amazing. The car detail is great and the buildings and things on the side of the road are also highly detailed, not boxy like other racing games. The cars take on a little damage like a cracked windshield, bent bumper, or your licence plate falling off, but nothing to impressive.
The gameplay is also very good. There are 102 cars to choose from after you have unlocked all of them and over 100 tracks to race. Some of the courses are similar because they use parts of other courses different times. There are 5 different difficulty levels and 5 metals earned with each level (novice-steel metal, easy-bronze metal, medium-silver metal, hard-gold metal, and expert-platinum metal). The hard and expert settings can be insanely difficult at some times, which is good because it will make the game longer and keep you working on the game for a longer time. There are several different kinds of races you can do which include things like street races, cone courses, one on one's, speed camera races, timed runs, and a few more. The Kudos system is also a great feature. I, at first, thought I wouldn't like the Kudos but I played the game and found out how neat it really is. The Kudos World Series is the main part of the game that has several different classes of cars. You start at the lower level classes like the Sport Utility class and eventually advance to the high classes which have cars like the Enzo Ferrari. Along the way you get access to new cars. Several of the races require you getting a high amount of Kudos points to complete the race.
Another thing I like is the Show Room. You can actually walk around in the building going into different rooms checking out the many different cars. The Show Room has all of the cars in the game and you can test drive every car except for a few "special" ones.
The only thing that I don't like about the game is that I think that it gets a little repetitive. There are 102 cars and over 100 tracks but you do the same thing over and over again especially in the Kudos World Series. But this is only what I think and it wasn't enough for me to give this game any less than 5 stars.
Great game, could have been even better

Don't get me wrong, this is a terrific game, but it isn't without its flaws, some of which may irk certain gamers more than others. Here is my breakdown:
Graphics: Terrific. Probably the best, most realistic car models on any system.
Sound: Also very good, with customizable soundtrack and a good selection of ethnic, location-specific tunes.
Control: Solid. This game is about 80% Simulation (ie: realistic) and 20% arcade (easy to learn, forgiving). The cars respond as they should and you can definitely tell the difference between a Mini Cooper and a Ferrari Enzo.
Gameplay: Very good, but this is where the flaws are found. In order to unlock more cars, you need to progress in a VERY linear fashion, fighting your way through various classes of vehicles. The vehicles are class specific, so you can't race your Ferrari in the SUV class, and your money is always limited. There are also no customization options (a la GT3 or NFS: underground), so you can forget about adding a turbocharger or what have you. My biggest complaint, however, is with the enemy A.I. Simply put, the cars race as if on rails, and generally act as if you aren't there. While a slight tap will cause YOU to spin out of control, you can ram the computer cars and they will barely swerve for a second or two, before accelerating away at an ungodly rate. Playing online can solve this problem, but as with any online game, for every nice gamer you play with/against, you'll have to wade through a sea of jerks and tough guys. The downloadable ghosts/records is very cool, though, as it makes you feel like part of a bigger community.
This is a very, very good racer, but I was hoping for a more open-ended game, and I'm still waiting for good CPU drivers to hit the console (or PC) scene.

PGR2 definitely has good graphics as far as XBox games go; compared to Racing Evolution, Sega GT 2002, and Ford Racing 2. The physics engine is definitely one of the better ones in a racing game; only Racing Evolution is harder to learn on how to take a turn and using the best line.
However, for all of it's graphics, fun, and music, there is a crippling downfall: no customization. This is why this game will never be in a league with Gran Turismo.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE PGR2. I love the "radio" option in the sound menu, because it takes your downloaded music that you have saved on your XBox and plays it back to you as if it were on a radio.
The graphics are first rate; they put it leagues above other XBox racing games.
The cars are fun to drive; though in the end you won't be driving the car you most enjoy, but the one that's simply faster or better handling. For instance, I'm a Ford man, and I would love to drive the SVT Lightening in the SUV/Truck category, but the the game rates the Porshce Cheyenne (it could be another high-end SUV, it's been awhile) so much higher it's not worth it.
I own Need for Speed: Underground, Sega GT 2002 (the on-line addition is on order :)), Ford Racing 2, Rallisport Challenge 2, Racing Evolution (really good game) and PGR2, and it takes about all of them, minus Rallisport Challenge 2, to equal Gran Turismo.
They are all good games, and I love playing them, but I would hold out for Forza Motorsports.
Best you're going to find for the XBox

Let's face it. So far, any attempt to make a good racing game for the XBox has flopped. There are indeed fans of PGR and PGR2, but that doesn't mean they were terribly successful games. The XBox controllers are partly at fault, and the game designers are the other factor. The Xbox itself is capable of a killer racing game, but none of the developers have put it's abilities to use. Mostly what you see are mediocre racing games with overdone reflections and effects.
PGR2 wasn't terrible. It wasn't that great either. I found the physics to be the best of any XBox racer, though that doesn't say alot, as previously mentioned. I've never found the kudos system to be much of an attraction, especially since most of the things you have to do to get the most points involve killing your racing line. This would be fine in an arcade racer, but such gimmicks aren't necessary in a simulation. Here lies the problem with this game. It tries to be both an arcade racer and a simulation at the same time. This doesn't come off very well. The graphics are pretty good, and the gameplay is decent, but the clash of arcade and simulation sometimes can ruin the fun. I personally don't like to be rammed by other cars in a simulation, although it's acceptable in an arcade racer. If the physics allowed for a quick recovery, it would be okay, but you can't recover very easily from a wreck in a simulation so you just end up screwed.
Pros:
-Best racer for the XBox
-Pretty good physics
-Decent graphics
-Ferrari's
Cons:
-Not on par with sim's like GT3, but not on par with arcade racers like NFSU either
-Kudos don't make sense. Am I supposed to drive like a maniac or supposed to drive properly? Pick one please.
-Car selection could use some work
-AI is out to get you
I suggest this title only for renting. If you want good racing games, wait for Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo 4 to be released. In the meantime, either play NFSU or GT3. They both offer far more for their respective categories. GT3 has the best physics, car selection, performance tuning options, and graphics of any racing game to date while the NFS series dominates arcade racers. Burnout 3 isn't a bad choice either.
