Dear Everybody - Take Halo 2 back to the store. An inadvertent mistake has been made. After playing this game today, I realized that Microsoft must have accidentally put the original Halo in the Halo 2 package when they shipped it out.
Over-Rated!!!

First off, let me say that this review is directed at parents and others who are debating about whether or not to get someone this game.
I don't see what all the hype is about in this game. There were a lot of people drooling over magazines waiting for it to come out. A group of high schoolers actually skipped school because they stayed up late to get the game at midnight at a local store. If only the principal knew.
From what I've seen it looks like the same old hackneyed first person shooter that's been around for years. I'm not very good at FPS and don't really like them, as I tend to get bored easily (perhaps that's why my success is limited?) The graphics are okay, but not exciting at all. Where's the color? Honestly, if I wanted drab graphics I'd pull out a Mac 512K and turn the brightness knob way down. I'm not sure if there is a storyline, but does it make sense? Or is it some twisted thing that makes Shakespeare look like kindergarten material? The violence doesn't bother me, but the fact that guys drool over this like everyone's grandmother drooled over Frank Sinatra does. It's just a stupid game, not God. (God shuffles His feet, glances around, and the people ignore Him and return to their game of Halo 2)
What's worse is people are still obsessed with this game. I can spend twenty minutes in Abercrombie and Fitch browsing, socializing, and buying something and then come out to find the same group of kids who were there when I entered A&F playing Halo 2 at the Electronics Boutique across the way. Teenagers don't get homework done because of this game and grades at a local high school dropped so badly this past nine weeks it wasn't funny. And these obsessed boys wonder why they don't have girlfriends...
I'm sick of the hype. Parents, buy your kids something like Super Mario. Those kinds of games make people think. Kids--don't get sucked in. Enjoy your youth and don't throw away your social life.
a repeat of the last

Halo 2 isn't bad if you haven't already beaten Halo 1. It has the exact same story line and you are still dealing with the flood. Halo 2 is just an enhanced version of Halo 1 in a different environment. It gets very boring if you've already beaten Halo 1.
Isn't hype wonderful?

What did you expect? The first Halo was a lot of hype. I was truly amazed that the game got as popular as it did with it's clichéd story, and it's sluggish controls, and uninspiring graphics. Nevertheless the game has become one of the most popular titles out there. A sequel was inevitable, and people lined up around the block, and camped out for this sequel only to walk away from the story uninspired, and sorely disappointed.
I wasn't expecting much from the story. I only ever bought the two Halos so that the cry baby gamers I play games with can't say "You wouldn't beat me if this were Halo". Well, now it is Halo, and I'm still beating you so neyah!
The multi-player mode is where this game shines. There is really a lot going on, and a huge variety of game play options, and admittedly some pretty neat weapons, but it seems that Bunjie has all but abandoned the single player experience, as it never really lived up to its potential. I still don't care about Master Chief, I think the name is both ridiculous and silly, I don't know much about this "dark and foreboding" anti-hero, and I feel no emotional attachment for him. Now why is that? Well I guess you're not supposed to feel for the guy who plays the lead in a sci-fi shooter... the game is all about blowing stuff up, after all, isn't it?
That is probably enough for most gamers, especially between the age of 14 and 18. But at 26, my tastes are evolving. I am beginning to feel that if you've played any first person shooter you've played them all. They're are all either a knock off of Goldeneye 007 (IMO still the best FPS ever made) or Halo, so playing this title late, AFTER playing through the mega disappointing Perfect Dark Zero I just wasn't able to develop any love for the Halo series outside its superb multiplayer mode, or the silly parody Red V Blue. I am simply having trouble identifying or feeling the emotions of the story. The potential for something more refined and sophisticated is there, I just hope that Bunjie can capitalize on that in the 3rd installment rather than making another Jerry Brokheimer the video game.
At any rate Halo 2 falls into yet another ho-hum sci-fi tale that will probably excite the average gamer, but being that I prefer more sophisticated stories it didn't do much for me.

the first Halo took on all the other first person shooters and blew them away..it had great graphics, fluid gameplay..a great story and a great cast of characters..the game is a best seller and a instant classic...now fast forward halo 2 bursts onto the scene...this game has all that halo fans have grown to expect from the first one..and more like new weapons, a updated battlesuit and more surprises ...still it has some flws though but thats in everything.. its a part of life... this game plays even better on the new x box 360 system try it out..it feels like a new version of halo 2.and the graphics are slightly updated as well now... cant wait to halo 3 this spring...

After playing this game for over 17hrs.
My conclusion is this game is UNBELIEVABLE SUPERB.
The whole package is tremendous.
I was glued to the TV, like fly to dung.
I would rate this a 6 star if I could.

This is a great game overall. The campaign is WAY better in halo 1 but it is still fun when you have it on a higher difficulty. The only problem with Xbox live is the moddders and Standbyers that play. It's like when you get to a lvl 31+ you will get cheated and sometimes before that. I really don't get why people have to cheat to see a number go up.
