It's about as "mature" as a round of Donkey Kong

Enclave takes a great story and reduces it to a series of obstacle courses. The levels do little to progress the plot, involve the character, or introduce any new characters (when a new one is introduced, their usually just standing in the middle of a level with no explanation). And, gues what? You get to replay each level over and over until you've memorized where all the "barrels" fall. And your reward for completing the insane levels which have no save points? Not even a descent cut-scene. Sound like fun? No, it's really not. For the mature gamer? Ya, meaning your 40 and still enjoy "Asteroids." This is not "Thief" of "Thief 2." They had detailed stories and characters... and mid-mission saves.

Everything about it is wonderful, except...

Its frusterating as hell. The gameplay is wonderful, and while the storyline and mid-mission cinematic scenes aren't the best, the overall experience of the game is fantastic. The only problem is that it's so darn hard. Not just that, but there are no mid-mission saves, and so when you are killed, you have to play the whole level again. This is very frusterating. But, when I was replaying the levels over and over again, I just tried to immerse myself in the wonderful gameplay and enjoy the fun and try not to think about it being the tenth time I played the level. The traps, unlike some reviewers said, aren't that bad. Most can be seen before-hand, and the few that can't generally don't really hurt you enough to worry about. Anyhow, enough said. This game is truly entertaining, but I wouldn't recommend it to the casual-just play a little here and there for fun-gamer.

Awsome Game

This game rocks! At first it's a bit tricky, with not alot of supplies but in about two levels you can aford that set of armor you've been longing for. The weapons are awsome. Theres so many! And two different sides to chose on is awsome. It does get kinda annoying on hard levels with no save points, but i think it makes it more challenging. BUY IT! you will not be dissapointed. I'd say you'd get about uhhh..... 80 hours worth on this game, or 98 if you don't get a walkthrough. So peace out.

Enclave is amazing

Don't let the goofy web site reviews keep you from buying this game.
Chances are they never made it passed the first level.

Enclave is really an amazing game; the character design, levels and graphics are fantastic.
After you complete the 'Light" level you can play as the Dark side which is even better IMO.
I've played this game 4 times from start to finish on both levels, replay value you can't find in most games.

Be warned though Enclave will test your skills in every way you can imagine, but it's worth it.

Amazing Graphics, But way to buggy to enjoy.

This game has some amazing visuals. The best I have seen in a long time. But it is so buggy that it really takes away from the enjoyment. After five minutes into it I decided to pause the game, bad idea. It locked up, and my xbox said either the disk was dirty or damaged. Fine.. I tryed again seeing as how the game was brand new. This time I got alittle further. Played for about 20 minutes. Then something came flying down some stairs, (Yellow flash?) and it crashed again! I took it back to get a new one, and the samething happened. Even tryed it on a friends xbox with the same resaults. Sad. This game looks great but the frequent crash's and lack of save area's, not to mention the ...... controls ruined it for me. I never thought I would see games being released to early on a game console like they do on the pc, but it has happened. And there's no downloadable patch the fix this game.

Overall, with the amazing visuals and animation it would make a great movie. But thats about it.

I wish they had 3 & 1/2 stars to give.

Good game and I love the gothic, D & D role playing type games with weapons and money for better weapons :). The issues have been pointed out in other reviews as far as difficult and no saves mid-level. We all like challenges in games however it needs to be achievable for the game player. I have a job and balances need to exist in games. This is the 50th game I have played that is too difficult. I wish I could give it a 3.5 but trusting the others that if I had a month to play this game I would actually beat it I have given it a 4.

Old school difficulty level.

This is a great game, you'll hear a lot about the difficulty level and no mid-level save feature, but I remember we didn't always have that back in the 8-bit days. (anyone else remember the superbad guy from Double Dragon that couldn't swim?)

Great sound, graphics, story, and play control. Not for the gamer that likes a no brainer win.

errr, ok game, but definately a renter first

First off, this is NOT an RPG. It is a FPS/Max Payne style game that just happens to have a fantasy setting. One may argue that there is an RPG feel to the game, which I won't deny, but the gameplay itself is pure action FPS. If you want a true RPG, check out Elder Scrolls:Morrowind. A great game (if you can get past the bugs). Anyway, I purchased Enclave the day it came out, and while it was entertaining for a bit, it quickly started boring and annoying me. Why? well, first off, as with many games, most of what was promised and hyped up does not come through in the final product. From what I heard, I was expecting a great physics engine and being able to truly interact w/ the world. (Stick arrows in the wall, knock enemies weapons out of their hands, etc) I have not seen anything like this yet. Everything in the game is scripted. If you see a wall blow up once, it happens the exact same way every time. Maybe I was expecting too much, and if this were the only problem, I would be able to overlook it. The second (and even bigger) problem is the AI, or should I say lack of it. All the enemies just run right at you, w/o a care in the world. there is no tactics whatsover (maybe I was spoiled w/ halo?) and ends up being a "who can hit the button faster" which i hate in games. Minor problems include no save feature in the middle of a level (definate letdown), not being able to choose your own controls (only two settings, and the difference between the two just moves the jump button from the right thumb stick to the a button), etc. The graphics are very beautiful though, so it sure is nice eye candy. Character animates are very nice and smooth. This may be your type of game, but i would definately recommend renting first. Luckily I still have my receipt.

They almost had it before outsmarting themselves.I
was expecting this to be the one but,it's not.I like
the controls and the graphics are sweet but thats
where it ends. All they had to do was put the gamer
in another world and get out of the way.Instead you
get foolish missions that serve only to undermine the
continuity of the game.I never really felt I was in-
volved with a quest,just completing challenges.You can't
just suit up and go out exploring and that ...[ticked]me off.
Take a hint from Halo or Morrowind next time and kindly
get out of the way.

Cool action...one of the better for Xbox

This game has awesome graphics. I know it sounds cheezy ... , but I am a graphic [fanatic]. The visuals simply blew my mind and I lvoe the character design. Plus I think it's really cool that you can play as light or dark characters. The weapons are awesome and everyoen says the design is linear, but I think it makes the game a little easier. I am not a big fan of overly complicated games and this works out really well for me. The actions is fast and it keeps the game interesting. I think everyone should at least check it out.
