Gaming fun

Enclave is a great action adventure game in the same style as Max Payne, or Halo, but with a medieval theme. It has some RPG elements in such that you collect gold coins so you have more options of different weapons and armor. Different characters are unlocked as you complete levels so they can specialize in different combat skills.

The graphics are top-notch, with high-poly models and detailed textures. The lights cast realistic dynamic shadows. It's probably not as fluid as most of the games that are 60fps. I think the developers targeted 30fps. The levels are highly detailed, the incentive to explore is so that you get to collect gold coins.

The camera angles are done very well, you can choose either 1st person, or for a wider view 3rd person. But you don't have to manually control where the camera goes it always follows behind you and sees what your character would and wouldn't see. In tight corners, the camera simply zooms closer and your character becomes transparent so not to obscure the view.

An in-mission save feature lacking in this game, however replaying levels is just as fun, sometimes I want to replay levels just so I can try to find all the gold that was supposed to be found. It automatically saves after every mission.

The story is so-so, but the adventure and exploration part combined with combat makes it a definitely great game.

Great First Person Shooter

I enjoyed this game so much more than Morrowind. The game is interesting and complex. The graphics are real good and fast. The monsters that are attacking are very cool. The sniper arrows with the huntress are very effective and deadly. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a more arcade like action adventure game.

This game is a challenge

I find this game to be very challenging. Some people have complained about nor being able to save during gameplay. Also, about the akward camera angles. But, aside from these quirks Encalve offers a game that challenges your tactical and strategic abilities. It requires you to be patient and logical. It is not your run of the mill hack-n-slash. To the average gamer, the thought of having to put some intellectual effort into a game maybe unappealing, but I think the developers of this game have created quite a sophisticated and complex gameing environment that offers more than the 49.99 price tag.

Very impressive game!

This is such an incredible game. The storyline is really interesting, and the scenery is really detailed. The enemies are cool, and are actually difficult to beat. Really worth buying since there are 8 characters to try...soudntrack is impressive too, really gets you going and fits well with the story of the game. Enclave is totally worth buying if you're up for the challenge!

Challenging and sometimes frustrating, but very fun

I'll admit that I haven't finished the game yet, but I've beaten the light adventure. Once you beat the light adventure you can be the bad guys.
One of the things I really liked about this game is that one of the enemies that became annoying very quickly, is playable on the Dark quest.
The graphics are very good... This isn't Halo, but they're very good. Gameplay is spot on for both quests. The different elements besides the hack and slash are very interesting. On one of them you have to use a stationary crossbow to hit a dragon that shoots fire at you. Another is using a catapult to pulverize your way into a castle.
The one thing I don't care for is that you are constantly looking for treasure, but you rarely find all of it from any one level. And you need it.
You buy your own gear, from armor to grenade arrows to grease bombs to your shield. There never seems to be enough health potion but that's actually pretty normal.
There are few puzzles that will stump someone, but the waves of enemies that come at you are challenging enough.
In conclusion. I bought this game not expecting anything and I've been playing it daily now for about a month. I'm taking my time. It can be a lot like Dragon's lair(remember where you got killed and move on).

How about some more bad guys...

WHAT? ONLY THREE STARS!!! First of all, the graphics are awesome in this game. Every detail is sharp, in the characters as well as the suroundings. Throughout the game the player accumulates different characters to help him on his quest, this makes it more interesting to play. The audio is very good, every action has a distinct sound.
The puzzles are very challenging, and will give the player much to work with. However, the reason I am giving this game such a low rating is because of the controls and the difficulty of the enemies. Your first character is a warrior armed only with a sword and shield. I soon discovered that about 2 out of every 5 swings with my sword actually made contact with the enemy. Eventually you do get a crossbow, but switching between weapons is unreasonably time consuming. The other allies you gather help, but each is horribly weak compared to the virtual onslaught of enemies you are bombarded with throughout the game. Plus, you can only use one character at a time when in a level. I honestly don't think I would have gone very far without the GOD code, which I was required to use more often than I would like. The enemies are not strong, but they are so numerous and the life potions you find are so FEW and far between. Plus, when you die, SUPRISE! You have to start the level ALL over. I may be weak, but I only suggest this game if your ready for a REAL challenge. If you would actually like to play a game where you don't start over again and again and gameplay is emphasized over raw enemy forces, I would suggest another, maybe "The Thing"...

Great for a mature player! (16 and older that is)

This game is a game for a mature player. It include extremely strong graphic violence, blood, and gore. This is most definately not a game for an 14 year old player and I am being dead serious. It includes the act of heads being decapetated with a six lbs war ax. In this game, you go down dungeons, catacombs, and creepy castle with all the medieval like weapons you can think of. With those weapons in your posession, you find demons, zombies, other soldiers, and creepy nighttime creatures in those catacombs. The creature feed on your flesh and the flesh of allready dead people. I also strongly suggest that you not play this game at twelve A.M. unless you want to get three nights of nightmares. So, with this in mind, this is a great game for a mature player 16 and older. Parents, DON'T LET YOUR YOUNGEST SON PLAY THIS GAME!!!!

This game got rave reviews from many web sites and I still don't quite understand.

This is a really good fantasy action game. Set in a world where good battle evil (for a change...;), you play the role of different heroes fighting for the light or for the darkness.

Story and background: The best thing about this game is that you start with a quite lengthy compaign where you play one of the five different classes available on the side of good. After every misson you can buy new equiments with the gold found during missions. Once the campaign of good finished, you can restart anew on the evil side where you play the same story but from a different angle. Here is an exemple of such a quest: when you play on the good side, you must escort and protect a merchant at night in a small village where in the evil campaign you must assassinate this same merchant who is quite well protected. I would say 5/5 for the story, the length of the game and the for playing the same story on both sides.

Graphics: The graphics in this game are very good even if this game is starting to date. I would say 4/5 by today stardards.

Sound: The sound is very good and is a good 'mood-setting'. 4/5

Controls: The controls are very good although they might be hard to get used to at first. There aren't a lot of possible combo to do with each classes though. 4/5

Any 'Lord of the Rings', or fantasy fans should try this game. It is a very good action game at a very low price ! No reason not to try !

Not my normal game type

I really enjoy this game. In fact, I am buying a second copy right now just so I'll have a back up. I've read some of the other reviews, and while the game still has a good overall rating, I thought I should give my opinion. First of all, I think the graphics surpass every other Xbox game I have, even Morrowing, which is also a favorite of mine. I like the levels, the opponants and the trickiness of it. Its definately not a cut and slash and wade through bad guys that just run right into you to be killed. You really have to think and plan. Yes you die alot. Yes there are no in level save points. And yes sometimes its very frustrating. I for one had to spend hours on some of the hardest levels, but I kept playing. Even in the replay, the game was great. I like the characters you can choose, and how different characters change the levels. I like the different weapons and bombs. Overall, its a game I would not want to live without.

Rent before you buy.

Grafix, good artsy goes with the mood. Only good point!
Theam and Story, been done to death, nothing new or interesting.
Run aorund trying to kill things.
Controls, slow and awkward, can't aim at all.
Action Combat, There is no combat system at all. Run around swinging wlidly and hope you eventually kill something.
Challenge, with out aim or combat system simple weak monsters are potentially deadly, Only cheats may help.
Over all, this is two stars worth of game, thats all.
