Ive had my xbox awhile and I heard Doom 3 was coming to it soon. saw a trailer for it and wanted to play it good thing I rented it i just finally played it a couple of days ago.As we all know the graphics are amazing but grapichs dont make a good game. The gams is quite repetive and it can feel like your just playing it to beat it and be done with it.The biggest problem is you walk threw the entire game and a couple of dudes pop out at you. When playing a Fps i want the gameplay to fast and hectic and slaughter everybody. (not a hardcore halo player but thats why I like it surrounded by 10 dudes and trying to take them out quick before they do the same to you) the storyline is weak but i didnt expect it to be grand. The ending however is disspaointing.
However it NEVER gets old running around with the chainsaw and grinding enemies up but that one part cant urge me to give it a 4 or a 5.The online co op is probally awesome but I dont
have xbox live. (I only bought the Xbox for Kotor not Halo) There are a nice assortment of weapons I hate a Fps that gives you 4 or 5. Also everyone complained about the flashlight and switching I never had a problem with it (mostly because i just ran threw the whole game with chainsaw anyone in my way was screwed and it takes a split second to switch back.)I do recommend the game for a rental if you are interested just dont buy it.
Doom 3 is a classic must-have for xbox!!!

This game is probably the scariest game ever that is not rated AO. Along with the intense scenes in this game, you get intense, fun, and addicting action as you fight your way past zombies.
You go many scary places with a wide variety of weapons. The only thing wrong with this game, and think about how good that is, is that you cannot have your flashlight and gun out at the same time. Otherwise this game is perfect if you like shooters. Why watch a scary movie when you can BE IN a scarier game?
Buy this game dont even think about it i mean its $20!!!!!!!!!!
Very Pleased With Doom 3

Ok to start things off. I am a VERY big first-person shooter player. Yes I have Halo, Area-51, Far Cry all that. Doom 3 is great. The graphics are so amazing, and it's a great transition from the PC to the console. No choppy graphics either, and pretty quick load times. Ok now on to the flashlight. If you noticed ALOT of the reviewers bash this game because of the flashlight. The key point is. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A HORROR GAME. It gives you more suspence when your lurking in a PITCH black room with just a little flashlight, and then all the sudden you see something out the corner of the light. All the sudden you turn around and a demon jumps off the wall at you. THATS BADASS. Haha I mean alot of people dont know that the game would not be HALF as scary without the very dark elements and without the flashlight. Switching between flashlight and gun is no problem for me. Second, the story. Yes this lacks of some what a story but its pretty cool. I mean its obvious whats going on in the game, theres demons in the base, they kill people. Simple right? This is how I thought about it. This game is Doom 3. Not halo, not half-life 2. Doom. Has ANY of the Doom's in the series had a greater story then this one? No. The story may be lacking when compared to other games, but its pure greatness when compared to other dooms. Ok now on to the gameplay. Shooting dead things is fun! This is the ONLY game (and I mean only) that scares me. Which is why I LOVE IT. Youll be playing some level and then some1 walks in your room. YOU JUMP. The sounds in this game totally make you scared, and the visuals (as said before) are outstanding.
I didnt think I'd like it. Trust me. BUY IT.
Made me scream like a little girl!!

I'm not going to repeat what this game is all about. It's a horror movie within the confines of a FPS.
It starts off all nice and clean and direct lulling you to a level of comfort. Things start getting creepy when you have to follow this little robotic spider. Before you know it people are turning on you and you can't see what's coming without fumbling with your flashlight. Then you have to fumble with your pistol! I really liked that you can't hold both at the same time. Hell, even in real life I never have any duct tape around when I need it!
I've only played it for a couple of hours in the dark, on a kick ass stereo and big screen TV (This in my opinion is a must! If you're playing in the light on a little tv with crappy tv speakers you won't get near the level of intensity this game is capable of) It filled me with dread and excitement better than anything has in years! There were times when I wanted to quit playing just because it creeped me out so much!
I haven't played Halo or Half-life so I can't compare to those. I loved the earlier Doom games for their creepiness and this one follows nicely. It's more about survival than kicking ass. You have to watch your ammo, reload often, and you're constantly looking over your shoulder.
I could nitpick about the sound quality of the weapons. GTA-SA does a much better job of weapon sounds. But this is minor. The lighting effects and dark effects are simply fantastic. I didn't play the PC version so I can't compare. But they look pretty great to me on xbox!
Highly Recommended!

For starters lets talk abut the graphics. This game beats halo 2 hands down on that par. I have never see so much eye candy in 1 game.It just wants to make ya cuss. Another thing is the frame rate. It is sooo smooth. Now I admit doom 3 isnt as fast pased as halo 2 but its fun. I believe that is the only con. And a thing about the flash light. I dont understand why people are coplaining, if you would have had the light taped to your gun it wouldnt be as scary. And the sound is so ambient its freaky. I bought this game the first day it came out And I love it. check it out.
Possibly the spookiest game I've ever played

I don't scare easy and this game just plain gives me the willies...I play this using my 48" JVC big screen TV. With the surround sound on and playing in the dark is pretty un-nerving, to say the least. I can easily say that I actually get a feeling that I'm there...on Mars....walking those damn dark hallways, listening to the UAC info bites and waiting to get whacked, at any moment. You cannot get through this game without using your flashlight!! One of the freakiest things is that you JUST DON'T KNOW where the nasties are going to pop-up; and if you have your flashlight in-hand, you have to swap it for your weapon of choice. That's been a problem for me due the fact that the nasties come from all-sides and they due tend to double-team you. They can come out from ANYWHERE!! For the XBOX, I could not ask for better graphics. Great job ID!!
I was just as blown away then as I am now.

Doom 3 is hardly fun, but it is an addictive & absorbingly realistic videogame. If you are a fan of the 1st or 2nd Alien movies you will love this experience. I haven't played a Doom game since I played the first PC version back in the early 90s. I was just as blown away then as I am now. Many reviewers seem to think that not much has changed with this franchise, but in reality not much has changed to the FPS format in general. Everyone seems to tout Halo so highly but in terms of game play they feel identical. The control set up and movements are identical. The weird unnatural jump is identical. Unlike the Halo games though, Doom 3's campaign mode really shines (you won't beat this game in 6 hours or cake walk through the last few levels). The developers did everything in their arsenal to immerse you in the experience. Every new room you walk into has the potential to kill you. You will find yourself hugging the walls and checking all the corners. You are constantly terrorized and ganged up on by some pretty nasty looking monsters. The enemies you will encounter take full advantage of the darkness, laying hidden until they are right on top of you. Sure the A. I. isn't the greatest, but then again a grisly bear wouldn't carefully consider the best way to kill you. Does that make the prospect of several grisly bears charging at you all at once any less terrifying?
Pros:
-Visuals: Everything looks great. You run past so much glorious detail that it just feels decadent. Very little is left to your imagination. Just don't look down at fallen
enemies or you will realize you are about 15 feet tall.
-(External) Sound Effects: Basically everything that is not you sounds awesome and goes miles in creating a life threatening sense of terror.
-Excellent enemy design. The majority of monsters in this game look and move like they want to eviscerate you. Too bad there aren't cool kill moves like Resident Evil 4.
Cons (it is the little details that make a master piece in my books):
-(Internal) Sound Effects: Your Weapons sound muted and lack power (Listen to the weapon sound effects in Resident Evil 4 to see what I mean). What the hell is up with
the goofy clankty clomp sounds it makes when you walk? It sounds like you are being trailed by the Three Stooges.
-Frame rate: Basically things get a little choppy if you look around too fast.
-Frequent load times that break up the tension.
It rocked my house and it scare the heck out of me!

This game is great!
The graphics are the best I have seen in a first shooter.
There were points in the game where I actually got scared, started breathing fast, and felt my heart rate go up!
The sounds were great to. I highly reccomend you have a surround sound system set up to play this game to get the full effect of what the sound artists have done.
I really hope these guys come out with Doom 4....you know they are, and its going to be better than ever.
Renting this game would be a waste of time. You should buy it, because you wont be able to put your controler down once you start playing.
Game on!

Doom is supposed to be a fun game. Instead, you are weak, carry weak guns, and you don't even talk. in the game, you fight zombies over and over again it gets boring after 5 minutes or so.Also, you get lost easily because it's so damned dark and monsters leap out behind walls. also, you can't use your flashlight while you shoot. you have to shoot randomly. there is also to much gore in this game it is counted as one of the most violent game.doom came out a few months ago and it is 20 dollars on the pc.don't think because there are guns and monsters in this games it is a good game.here is my overall score.
graphics 7/10
sound 5/10
gameplay 4/10
controls 8/10
storyline 4/10
fun factor 2/10
overall 4/10
now, don't get offended because i say it is not good and you like it. i am only saying what i think about the game. I'd reccomend other games like halo, zelda, mech assault, metroid, and resident evil.
You are Doomed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, the greatest Doom game of all time is on the X-box and it delivers a very well done experience.Graphically, this is one of the finest looking X-Box games of this generation, the shadows and lighting effects, very well done, along with the creepy looking monsters, it will blow your mind. The gameplay is really good too but may not impress the original Doom fans with the intense action the original ones provide.Overall, this is a really good game in the Doom series.
P.S. anyone who says this game is horrible, change your mind because to me, those people are tripping!
