This adaptation of the PC version is flawless. It lacks a few minor features though, which would make it perfect. It would be nice if you could play with multiple people on the same X-box. Or at least if you link two x-box's together. The game, which was probably taken almost straight from the PC version for X-box, probably didn't support multiple players on the same hardware as the PC version didn't. With a console game, however, people are less likely to buy one if they can't play it with friends at home. While the online play of the game is not a direct result of the game, it is something to consider before buying. You will have to get X-box live if you want to fully enjoy this game. And online play varies greatly compared to the PC version. People do not take the team play aspect as seriously on this version. Most of the headset conversation is worthless so coordination is difficult. But the ability to play against other humans more than makes up for it. The bots are amazing too. I never played against an AI player on the PC version that holds a candle to the ones on the X-box. Overall, a must have for the X-box, but be warned it will cost you more than just fifty bucks.

Great Game!

This game is amazing! One problem: I am warning anybody who does not have XBox Live NOT TO GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!! This game is only worth buying if you have XBox Live because in single player, there isn't even real missions. All you do is play a deathmatch with a bunch of computers for a bunch of rounds on the same map. There is not story, no special characters, NOTHING. Just a plain old deathmatch with computer players that get too predictable. But online, it will have you addicted forever!

great online gameplay, but not much else.

counterstrike for the xbox is a welcome addition to their current online lineup. thankfully the gameplay is rather easy to pickup and even has similiar single player modes to help the learning curve. although i found the single player AI a little too easy to kill, it will still help you grasp the control setup. once you have mastered the weapons its rather easy to start playing online opponents that are at equal skill levels. there are some major downsides to the game however. the boards are well designed for gameplay (many rooms for hiding and sniping) but lack dynamic graphics. at times this keeps the game from overwhelming you with extra scenery that you dont need. but still, since this is a port from an older PC game, it looks rather stripped down in comparison to some of the new fps games. there is little offered in this game in the single player mode other than repetitive training style gameplay and the xbox does not support any split screen cooperative gameplay. in addition, unless you have multiple televisions and numerous xboxs you can't actually use xbox connectivity. which all boils down to the fact that this game really only offers quality online gameplay. the online mode, however, is rather addicitive and you will be joining into squads in no time. the only online problem i see is that game hosts dont really give enough time at the beginning of a level to buy the weapons you want without falling behind. but this is a rather menial complaint. other than that, the game (at this price) is well worth it and you'll be playing it daily until HALO 2 comes out with online capabilities.

Best multiplayer game on Xbox Live. Dont't believe the folks who have not even played this game. It brings the real Counter-Strike experience on the PC over to Xbox. And no cheating it rocks

great game

this game is great, i just got it for Christmas and i couldn't stop playing it. the 1 player mode is fun, but i sort of got bored of it after a while because the most u can play is 6 vs 6, but luckily i have xbox live. if u don't have xbox live i still recogmend this game because it is a lot of fun and there are a lot of great weapons and it has great graphics

it should also have a split-screen multiplayer though.

that would make the game sooooooooooooo much bettah!

A waste of money if you don't have X Box Live

I saw this game and thought it might be fun, as I enjoy games like Ghost Recon; however, I was very disappointed. There is not much you can do with this game unless you have X Box Live. The single player missions are pretty boring and you will get tired of them within the first 15 minutes or so. I don't have X Box Live, so I can not comment on the game play online.

Pros: None that I could see. There are better first person shooters out there.

Cons: Lack of game play offline. Graphics were not the best and the IA was not very intelligent.

Overall: Try Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, or some of the other Tom Clancy 1st Person shooters.

Have you no idea of any great games that are coming out now?

Yea sure, the original Counter-Strike Mod for Half-Life on the PC was definitely a smash hit, but that is ancient history now. If we attempt to dwell in this game, we might as well go back to playing our NES's and hover around our PC's over Wolfenstein 3D. As you can tell in this game's screenshots, the sub-par, stinkerific 1998 graphics technology carried over to this game, clearly making it not worth the $50 you are just about to waste. Counter-Strike Condition Zero and Half-Life 2 are coming out soon (but both keep being delayed which is not strange seeing Valve's line of fake promises), it is suggested that you stick to those. I mean, the voice chat is awesome, but even that isn't enough to bring this fossil to life again. Rainbow Six 3 for Xbox Live offers better online gameplay than this. You are also kicking terrorist butt, the graphics are much better, and the gameplay is more defined than Counter-Strike.

Now, I'm not saying Counter-Strike is a completely horrible game. After all, millions of people once played this game on the PC. But now, a large part of those millions has now moved on to something else, as no one likes dwelling in the past. Reviving this classic on the Xbox is definitely a great idea, but is it really worth the 50 bucks when games like Halo 2 are going to be the same price when it comes out? Clearly, it isn't. Skip this title, and save your money for something that is newer and more-defined for this age of technology.

A Review of the Single-Player Missions

I don't doubt that playing Counter Strike online with several other people is fun, but the single-player missions are a complete waste of time. They're not really missions at all--they're "scenarios", no plot, no direction, just lots of mindless running and shooting. I was expecting CS to be like SOCOM, an online-enabled game that also happened to have a truly stunning single-player experience. But this ain't SOCOM. The graphics are horrible (even worse than Ghost Recon), the sounds are muffled and the voices are often unintelligible. The reviewers at IGN.com got it right: If you don't have Xbox-Live, then don't play Counter Strike.
I rented it for five days, but I took it back after one night.

Great Multi-Play, great Graphics!

This is the best Xbox Live title to date.
Great graphics! Easily on the same level as Halo, definately better than the PC version of Counter-strike.
AWESOME CONTROLS! Better controls than Halo.
Great Multi-player, 16 players hours of fun.
Limited single player experience.
Only reccomened for those with Xbox Live. If you are behind
the curve, without live, DSL or Cable then you definately will
not like it.
