I THINK THIS SUPER MONKEY BALL IS ONE OF THE MOST STUPID GAMES IN THE HISTORY OF STUPID GAMES! ALTHOUGH I LIKE SOME OF IT! ON THE EXPERT LEVELS SOME OF THEM ARE SO HARD AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW YOU GET THROUGH THEM! SEGA HAS GONE WILD HERE! I THINK SEGA SHOULD SEE THIS REVIEW AND COME UP WITH SOMETHING BETTER! THE SECOND MONKEYBALL IS A WHOLE LOT BETTER! ON THE MINI GAME MONKEY BILLIARDS IS KINDA BORING BECAUSE IT'S ONLY 9 BALL! IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A GAME LIKE THIS I HAVE THE PERFECT SOLUTION! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING THIS GAME AND BUY THE SECOND ONE! I THINK THIS GAME SHOULD NO LONGER EXIST!!!!!!! HERE IS MY LAST WORDS TO SEGA!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

This game is for those of you who like Tetris/Dr. Mario/Pinball/etc. type games.
If don't like the games listed above, I'm pretty sure you won't like this.
Fun or not fun? That is the question.

This game is fairly simple, you run around in your monkey ball, collect bananas, and finish the course. The single player mode is fairly boring, and loses its fun fast, as all the courses are basically same, just harder or easier, with a few exceptions. The only bright spot in this game is the multiplayer, and thats not altogether to bright.
You start out able to play 3 multiplayer games, and they are all equally fun, but, same as the single player, the fun gets drained out quickly, as there is no real variety at targets(3), race courses(6), and fight arenas(3). There are three more which can be unlocked later, by playing the boring single player game. Only one of these (bowling) is any good, but, again, loses fun extremely fast. You would really have to be a hardcore puzzle gamer to like this one, and I wouldn't suggest this game to anyone else.
A 22 year old's impression.

I enjoyed the main game pretty well. To me, it seemed like a recap of the old Marble Madness games. It has a very well put together main game.
I didn't like the multiplayer games much. It seems you are either good at them or your not. As it turns out, I'm terrible at them, and my friend was good. The side-games are interesting, but they frustrated me to no end. I simply could not do well with them.
It's going to be a matter of preference mostly. I didn't want to spend [the money] just to enjoy one aspect of the game, since it's the only part I could play well. I recommend you rent this one first to see if you want to keep it.
I SMELL SOMETHING BURNING ~~~~~~> (???)

This game is absolutely wonderful. Engaging and challenging levels that build gradually in difficulty and a bunch of fuzzy monkeys trapped in balls as characters. Brings me back to my hamster rearing days. If only I had the kind of crazy mazes and puzzles this game has.
The best part of the game, as well as the sequel, is its ability to hold my interest. Even after I think I've gotten all the play I can get out of this game I keep coming back for more. Either for the great multi-player games, the fun party games or the always difficult, but rewarding puzzles. If you plan to go the distance with this game it will take up most of the hours of many days, but right away this addictive little gem wins a place in your heart and consistently rewards you for your efforts.
Also check out Monkey Ball 2 for even more monkey action.

I just got my gamecube after christmas. When I got and tried Super Monkey Ball I would give it a 4 1/2 because of great pictures and fun. I didn't give it a 5 because you can only do 3 games in the begining but over all it was good.
A blast with a group or alone!

I loved this game and it is definitly worth the [item price]! There is a very, very small learning curve and after that you are good to go. The main game 'll keep you occupied (and sometimes frustrated) and the mini-games are a blast (pool, bowling, golf)The party games are equally fun, even more so when played with a group. I whole heartedly recommend this to anyone who loves a challenge and especially those who enjoyed a little marble maddness back in the day.
Worth Your Time.

This game does a great job at rounding out the Gamecube's lineup. With mini-games galour, this unique game never fails to impress with its innovative level designs and cool shortcuts. The main game is impressive: over 70 levels- and that's not even counting the bonus levels! Also, there are a few things to unlock, so the main game always keeps you coming back for more while you earn play points. The main game, however, is unimpressive compared to the great variety of multi-player mini-games! Monkey Bowling, Monkey Target, Monkey Billiards, Monkey Golf (mini-golf), Monkey Race, and Monkey Fight are all fun to at least some degree, and they are all multi-player. Monkey Bowling is always fun because it's easy to get into even for beginners. Monkey Golf is frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is quite enjoyable. Monkey Target is also really great, and Monkey Fight is perfect for parties.
The game does have a few shortcomings. The music is not catchy, and the controls seem a bit sensitive at times. Also, some of the levels on expert mode are just too difficult to the point that they are intensely frustrating. However, Monkey Ball comes out on top because of its innovative play and excellent mini-games.
