You'll go bananas!

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 3

This is a rather strange game. You control a monkey in a hamster ball a complete various tasks such as roll yourself as a bolling ball, fly thru the air, or try to complete coarses while earning bananas. The downside is there really isn't any plot and 1player can get boring pretty fast. Though if you have a friend or two and an extra controller this game can dish out hours of fun.

Good but not Great

This is one of those games where everybody gets all hyped up about it because it is one of the first launch games for a system. Don't get me wrong this is a good game but i think that if this game out later down the road when there where more of a selection nobody would even think of purchasing this game. The one player mode is entertaining (for about and hour.)Multiplayer is the major strongpoint of this game. So if you dont have many friends u may not want this game. Also another thing i dont like about this game is that it takes no skill what so ever. Your 4 year old cousin could beat you on this game. Personally i dont like games like that but if u do then this is a good game for u. Sega did a good job on this game but i think that they should be doing better things with thier time then games like this, and we wonder why they don't make systems anymore!

good game for young kids...but adults can play too...

first glance...too childish for me...but when i played it...it was fun, basically marble madness with a monkey trapped inside the ball...the party mode where you can play with other friends are good...but kinda tough to play with your adult friends with a game that is so cutesy...but i enjoyed it, this game is for everyone, something nintendo usually targets, young kids...

SUPER MONKEY BALL
Super monkey ball is one of SEGA's few games that screams success. Unlike their other freaky games this is a real hard simulation of all of our faviort sports... balling??
9/10

When i got my Cube, this was the first game i got. I started playing it and I got bored in about 3 hours. The game is very repitative, you have to move the floor so the monkey trapped inside the ball moves and get bananas. Pretty boring! Except Multiplayer mode, which it can be the most addictive game for four players! Check below the Good and Bad things about it:

The Good Things:
-Awesome multiplayer
-Cool characters
-Nice graphics and sound
-challenging
-unique

The Bad Things:
-Can get boring
-Not fun (for one player)
-Same thing over and over again

Overall, this game is worth buying if you are a Marble Madness fan (for NES) or enjoy muliplayer fun!

I'm a little disappointed with Monkey Ball. It's a cute game but I wouldn't instinctively put it on your list of must-haves as I did after reading all the great reviews.

I'm a father of three young children (2,5,9) and an avid PC Gamer. I decided to initiate my family to video games with the purchase of a Gamecube this Christmas. I chose the Gamecube because I believe that it will come with more "family friendly" games. My philosophy is that a video game system should be used to bring people together for some recreation. After all, it is typically located in the Family Room. So I bought the system and 4 controllers. The only game I purchased was Monkey Ball.

Don't get me wrong, it's a decent game, but I don't believe it contains the value for what you pay. Here are the major things that bother me about it.

1. 1/3 of the program is automatically locked up until you gain enough points in normal mode to unlock it (the Mini games). Beginner level in normal mode gets hard fast, we have yet to earn a point so I have no idea how long it will take to gain access to the rest of the product. I think that this is simply bad design. I prefer to have immediate access to these games especially since they are completely unrelated to the activities in Normal mode. I could understand it if these were special levels or extras that related to Normal mode, but they aren't. This design is only appropriate for those who want their children to play video games all day long.

2. For a family game, it's creepy to see your cute little monkey in the ball fall off the edge of a platform suspended miles in the air. As your entrapped monkey falls or teeters on the edge of the platform, he/she yells and waves his/her arms. If you're not afraid of heights, this game will make you afraid of them. Nintendo went to great lengths to boost the realism and all the games occur miles in the sky and trust me, you won't want to be the cause of the demise of these cute little creatures. I guess, this is a little alternative psychology to try harder.

3. We spend all our time in the Mini games, Monkey race and Monkey fight. These are what everyone talks about. Monkey race is similar to Mario Kart but again, I was disappointed by the terrible selection of courses to choose from. If this is a major reason to buy the game, save your money until Mario Kart comes out. There just isn't enough variety to keep you interested for long.

If I could do it again, I would pass on Monkey Ball. I think the best part of Monkey Ball is Monkey Race and Mario Kart will blow this part of the game away.

Too bad it's not exclusive

I was going to buy a Gamecube @ launch untill I found out this wasn't exclusive. I own a PS2 and this game will be coming out for PS2 in a few monthes. If you are buying a Gamecube though, definately get this game. Although it may look childish(which it is) it is very challenging and fun. The game includes mini games and multiplayer support which adds to it's already high replay value. This game is out in Japan and I am hoping that the Game shop in my town imports the game and lets people play it on their import Gamecube(right now they have Waverace).

Fun Game...

Man, this is one fun game but kinda hard to control... Geeezzz, each time after finished playing this game, both of my hands are sore and I have a stiff back. Nevermind, this game is really fun!!!

I like the race and fight game within the square ring, so much fun when I beat up my friends and saw the monkeys falling down from the sky..... dooooooooooooooo
