The first time i touched this game I couldnt let go. its amazing the graphics are appealing to your eyes and you will never want to stop playing. The only downfall is the camera, the c stick changes its angle but when you change camera angle mario goes in that direction, it's confusing but easy to use. trying to spay shadow mario while hes running, keeping up with him, using the same arial moves sending you soaring, it's an unbelievable game. I've gotten the rocket nozzle and jet nozzle, and the jet nozzle is amazing it sends you flying at high speeds and super fast in the water, and once you are in the water you can go forever without stopping while the rocket nozzle sends you saoring up in the air. The yoshis are great I've got them, as you eat different fruit they change color, their spit can destroy special wavy yellow goop, and it can turn any bad guy into a platform!! the different color yoshi platforms can do different things like go up and down or move you across big areas, but beware if a yoshi touches the water it will turn green, sink in the water, and disintigrate like mario does going into a level.
This game is great sorry if I gave away to much I got carried away If you have a game cube you absolutly must get this game!! and with 120 shine sprites it will keep you begging for more and more. well if this review doesnt get you thinking then nothing will!! BUY THAT GAME!!!
What's up with Nintendo and...

...Strapping things to peoples backs? First vacuums, now water pumps. What next? Flamethrowers? Gumball machines? Ooh, how about a cheese maker? But I digress. This game is very cool. It gives more of a sense of freedom than Luigi's Mansion. You can jump, the enemies can usually be beaten several ways, ect. Now Luigi is know for his leaping power, right? They didn't let him jump in LM! Oops, i think i'm accidentally rating LM instead of Sunshine! Anyway, I had much fun in this challenging, yet not impossibly hard, game. Hey, you guys thing we'll see another Super Mario RPG sequel on the GC soon? I hope so!

I greatly enjoyed Mario 64. Sunshine is a little different, but doesn't take too long to get used to. It is setup basically the same as 64. There are different worlds and each one has a set number of stars to get. The puzzles aren't too difficult. The graphics are great. A true demonstration of the GameCube's capabilities!

Mario is back and he is better than ever. I like that you can go to so many different places easily. I like the flood water pack and its different nozzles. I like feeding Yoshi and still being able to do all of Mario's jumps, etc on Yoshi's back. It's fun to jump into the air, spin, and become a sprinkler sending water everywhere. The bosses are easier to beat than Mario 64 but not too easy. (hint: get 10 blue coins and get a shine sprite at the shop on Isle Delfino by the enterance to Ricco Harbor)
I give this game 5 stars because everyone I know from the ages of 3 through 78 love it!
The best mario game to date

This is the one game that proves you can make a dumb story line, strange concept, and annoying bunch of character and still manage to make it fun enough for people to play. SMS isn't a bad game. It borrows some elements from Mario 64 for a new adventure. But I wish there werent all those dumb green blob dudes that you would have to talk to. This is a fun game though, but not for everyone. So rent it 1st.
Great Game

I really enjoyed this game. I think though this game is either you like the water gun that Mario has or you hate it. I like this game but it gets hard so I don't like the replay value.
Not as good as I thought

It good but not great. The game is too short, there is under 9 levels. Most of them are easy. I beat the game in only 3 weeks, most games take more than 3 week. I would say Luigi's Mansion is better and Mario 64. This game is not as good as expected.
If you seek real entertainment, avoid this.

I bought this game to play on the Wii after having played Super Mario Galaxy to the bone and getting all 121 stars, which were indeed difficult and stressful to get but not at all compared to Super Mario Sunshine.
The game seems rushed and not well-finished at all. Surely Mario does look much better than the precarious Super Mario 64 design but the game looks like a testing beta version of itself. The graphics aren't great, the music is... just there, and the gameplay ranges from funnily easy to insanely difficult. Plus the cameras are almost manual and only turn by themselves when you're in tight situations, usually making you die.
Okay, lots of people like difficult stuff - as I do - but the difficulty of Mario Sunshine is gratuitously difficult. It is just difficult, nothing else. There's no respectful elaboration at all. The controls are very badly-programmed and let you down MANY MANY times during difficult levels when you need them to work the most.
It sounds as if Nintendo was trying to impress & forgot that a quality game indeed is very hard, yes, but has matching controlling resources that gives the player a chance to shine and well-elaborated hard levels. 'Cause please, don't give me that "experiment with the camera" babble 'cause that's just a lame excuse not to programme it properly! 'Cause, seriously, it's very easy to pick any same hard level, then give you 1 min to complete it & call it a new great level to test your ability. But where should we turn to when the controls doesn't reflect what you're doing on them onscreen? Where should we turn to if the camera keeps going behind an obstacle that leaves the screen with loads of very unhelpful question marks? They even say "Good Luck" during the hardest levels. And they should, 'cause only random luck gets you to the end.
If you want a real great game, go for Super Mario Galaxy. Mario Sunshine is a complete letdown for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Mario fan-player for a decade now, never had any grudges whatsoever with any of the games. But this one... it would be easy to criticise it if I was a frustrated player who's just angry 'cause he can't finish the game. But I'm not. I did finish it but under amounts of stress, frustration and deception I never ever experienced in my life... so far.
Avoid this game if you're seeking real entertainment. For those of you who seek difficult stuff, at least make sure the controls are well-developed and do what you request of them.
