My kids loved Pikmin and are even more crazy about Pikmin 2. They love the new Pikmin colors and enemies. We love it as parents because it's not just mindless battles and violence. They do have to think and use the map to find the Pikmin and the parts. I recommend this for anyone.

Hey guyz, I really loved the first game. It was so good, but not the time limit, that was LAME. But this game looks even better than number one. There are 2 people in it, olimar and some other guy, so you can control more pikmin at one time I think. And it has a 2 player mode. I HAVE NOT PLAYED IT YET, but it looks good, and I liked the first one, so I suggest you spend 50 bucks on it, even though I have not played it and have no idea what i'm talking about.

PEOPLE!!! If you have not played the game, don't bloody review it. No one cares what you think the game is GOING to be like, people care about what the game IS like. It's that simple. The point of reviews on amazon is so people who KNOW WHAY THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT can give helpfull pointers and facts about the gameplay and whatnot. If you have not played the damn game, then you don't know what you are talking about. The features are listed at the top of the page, don't just repeat them. Acctually review the game. Good lord. Oh, and that above review, was sarcastic. ARG. And no, I have not played the game, so yes, i'm a hipocrite, HOWEVER, i'm just pointing out, that you are all idiots. Unless you really have played the game and the proceded to write a review, and thus, if that is the case, then you have my thanks, FOR NOT BEING A BABBLING IDIOT.

A Minor Masterpiece

The sequel to the 2001 cult classic Pikmin surpasses its predecessor in every imaginable way, and earns its place of honor among Nintendo's elite list of first-party franchises. This unassuming and humble game presents us with the opportunity to fully appreciate small triumphs and failures in one of the most relaxing, original, and genuinely enjoyable takes on the real-time strategy genre ever devised. A simple interface, surprisingly deep play mechanics, and a loveable and wonderfully fleshed out cast create a must-have for Gamecube owners, and a model for Nintendo's long held views on game design.

The first Pikmin, a qirky and original Gamecube launch game, captivated those willing to give it a try with it's elegant design and unique concepts. The sequel again places you in the shoes of the daring and miniscule space explorer Captain Olimar. This time he is joined by a sidekick of sorts... the gourmand Louie, a loud and funny shipboard computer, and two brand-new types of Pikmin, in a quest to save his company from bankruptcy.

The inclusion of a second playable character who can be split up from Olimar to complete seperate tasks adds a whole new dimension to the multitasking that permeated the first game, and the elegant controls make switching back in forth between your flower-like legions second nature. Also new are randomly generated dungeons, which are both challenging and open up whole new worlds for the developers to explore the sense of scale. There's no limit to how many days you can spend exploring the surface, which fixes the only real complaint that can be made about the first Pikmin. Finally, to complete the package there's an all-new two player option that offers both cooperative challenges and hectic deathmatches.

The larger than life presentation of the mundane that proliferated the original returns, with every day objects appearing gargantuan in size through the eyes of our ant-sized heroes. Graphically Pikmin 2 is among the most beautiful and graceful games on the Gamecube, and the developers seem to relish in presenting such interesting artifacts as bottle caps, rusty coins, and of course ancient Nintendo paraphernalia, in all their glory. Among the many dramatic improvements in this sequel is the Piklopedia, a viewing gallery that catalogs every object that you collect and gives you often hilarious descriptions by Olimar and co. Some people may spend a good portion of their game time tanting creatures that they've bested or oggling over the amount of detail that went into the rendering of a fried piece of ham. Pikmin 2 really delivers a consistent fantasy-reality for Olimar and shines in presentation.

The score is probably the most relaxing video game soundtrack ever devised, and perfectly compliments the hynotic gameplay and graphics. If ever there was a perfect game to help you unwind, this is it.

Also, there are a number of extremely well-done Full Motion Video sequences in the game that help propel the story, something that I didn't expect but was really impressed by.

Pikmin 2 is the textbook example of a proper sequel. It retains only the essentials of the original, fixes the problems, and adds whole new layers of depth. I can't think of any other game that will probably be more overlooked, which is a shame cause it is a true gem. A minor Nintendo masterpiece.

I just love this game!!!!! I have soooooooo much fun playing it. When I played the first Pikmin I hated it. So I thought this would be the same. But when I found out there wasn't a time limit on how many days you could spend on it I jumped right on it. I bought it on the day it came out the minute the store opened!!!! The aim is to find 10,000 pokos worth of treasure on the planet of the pikmin. You go around with your army of pikmin attacking enemies, diving into caves and collecting as much treasure as you can. Also, try the new two player mode and the challenge mode. There the super fun. There are also two new types of pikmin... Purple that are extra strong as well as extra heavy and the White that are imune to the poisinous gasses and can sense treasure under the soil. If you love wacky adventures you would absolutly love this new game.

Addictive!

I am thirteen, just to let you know. I have played and own both Pikmin 1 & 2. I just bought Pikmin 2 today, and it is an AWESOME game! I'm sure you already know the storyline and new features, so I won't waste time covering that. Anyways, the graphics seem to be a bit better and really look good in the opening cinema. There are many new enemies, including Snow Bulborbs (they are white) and some type of dandylion that springs out of the ground and devours Pikmin.

The cave levels are quite interesting and fun. There is still a sun meter, but you have an unlimited amount of days. The purple pikmin each have the strength of 10 normal pikmin and are extremely handy. 10 purple can defeat a giant spotty bulborb in instants and 1 purple thrown on top of a dwarf bulborb twice in a row will defeat it. When you throw a purple it automatically butt-slams onto the ground (or a Bulborb) and jiggles the controller. Both the White and Purple Pikmin are stored in compartments in Olimar's ship, since they don't have an Onion. I have not found the white pikmin yet, so I can't really say anything about them.

Some of the odds and ends you can collect are a 7Up bottle cap and halves of an Earth globe. It seems obvious that the planet of the Pikmin is Earth due to several different things such as a Bulborb sleeping directly in the middle of a giant water meter, a (very detailed) Duracell battery, paper bags, and smashed pop cans lying around. Also, one of the things that Olimar's ship's computer can do is scan and gather data from the halves of the Earth globe and unlock more places to land on and explore.

Challenge Mode can be unlocked once a certain item is found in the game. I have not yet been able to take advantage of the 2 player modes yet, but since it is one of the main features of the game, I assume it is very fun. The game also gives you very detailed statistics such as telling you how many pikmin you've lost to individual species of enemies and how many of those enemies you've defeated. Here is my overall for it:

Pros:

New colors of Pikmin

Two playable characters

No limit on days

Caves

Cons:

No Onions for new colors of Pikmin

Purple Pikmin are extremely slow unless they are matured into flowers

Overall Ratings

Graphics 5/5

Music 5/5

Sound Effects 3/5 (The Pikmins' little song(s) are extremely annoying)

Gameplay 5/5

looks like best game

Pikmin. Is one of the most intriguing, and impressive games I have ever played. This is why I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the sequal for a very long time. The sequal will be realeased in 5 days, on August 30th. Ive heard so much about the game, I cant wait to get my hands on it! There's a bushel of new enemies and hazards to combat or avoid, along with some from the first game. There are also, two additional types of Pikmin, each with a special ability. The two new types of pikmin join the originals and Captain Olimar along with his new assistant to save his company from going bankrupt by collecting items on the planet and bringing them back for profit. Red pikmin are the second strongest fighters, and can withstand searing flames, Yellow pikmin are the lightest, and can be thrown the highest, and are immune to electric shocks, Blue pikmin are the only swimmers, and can even rescue drowning pikmin, Purple pikmin are incredibly strong, but rather slow, and ONE can carry an item that would normaly take 10 pikmin to carry! White pikmin are toxic to most enemies on the planet when swallowed, can be exposed to poison fumes, can detect burried treasures, and are the fastest runners. These skills and abilities will be put to use throughout the game as you discover the pikmin variety. The game sounds terrific and much more advanced than the first. The scenery will change from lush sunfilled areas, to dark caverns and snowy tundra. In every reigon there are items of different value to find and retrieve to pay off the debt of 10,000 pokos. The sequal seems to be everything it should be, exciting and new, but brings back some of the original, just to show you how much it has improved. The game will challenge you to use your mind and is already my new FAVORITE game!

I really really like this game!

Pikmin 2 is really fun! I myself have played the first Pikmin, and I enjoyed it a lot, but I think Pikmin 2 is a lot more fun. In Pikmin 2 you meet the same color pikmin as in the first Pikmin (red, yellow, and blue)but you also find two other colors of pikmin (purple and white). Each color of pikmin have their own special ability. (Spoiler warning) red pikmin can withstand fire and is slightly stronger than the other pikmin except purple, purple is ten times stronger than red pikmin and stuns some enemies if throne on top of, white pikmin are poisonous and can withstand poison as well white pikmin are also faster, yellow can withstand electricity and get throne higher than other color of pikmin, and blue can go into water without drowning. Most of the enemies from the first Pikmin are in Pikmin 2 with some other enemies that get added. In the first Pikmin Olomar crashes into a strange uncharted planet, he later escaped the planet. When Olomar gets back to the company he works at, he finds out that the company is in debt of 10,100 pokos. When his new ship sucks up a souvenir for his son and says it is worth 100 pokos the president of the company sends Olomar back to the planet with Louie to find more treasure to repay their debt. (spoilers ended) After you earn challenge mode, you can play it where you try to escape holes of your choice. Battle mode is a different way to play capture the flag. I like Pikmin 2 because you can have two people play at once. I highly recommend that you get this game, especially if you like Pikmin 1!

Great fun!

Don't let the description fool you, this game takes a bit of strategy to beat. It's not difficult, but challenging in spots as your Pikmen don't always head in favorable directions. I was pleasantly surprised by this game.

Well, Nintendo finally released Pikmin 2. And they made it perfect. The greatest thing about this game is that they took out the 30-day time limit from the last one, which made the first Pikmin annoyingly rushed. Anyways, the graphics in this game are lush, beautiful, and fun to look at. The "small world" theme is still here, but more so. Every Pikmin looks detailed, even when you have 100 of them on the field.

The Pikmin are small plantlike creatures, in case you didn't know, and they do whatever you command. Only now they have a lot more personality. For example, they will sometimes hum, play with each other, and even ignore you if you treat them poorly!(if you continualli throw them into water, poisen, fire, etc.) The goal of the game is to hoard enough treasure to pay off your company's debt with your assistant, Louie. You are Olimar. While the teamate thing seems like a gimmick at first, you will use your seperate squads of Pikmin to solve various puzzles.

You will explore caves throughout the game, which are like ant holes. TONS of treasure can be found in these caves, along with a variety of creatures. These creatures are also found on the field, and can eat, smash, etc. your Pikmin, reducing your numbers. But your Pikmin aren't helpless, they can swarm and defeat the enemy, and carry the corpse to their base, producing more Pikmin.

Each Pikmin has different abilities, such as swimming, immune to poison, immune to fire, immune to electricity, digging, power, high throwing, and a couple more. The variety in this game is astounding.

Humor is in the game, as well. The treasures you find are replicas of real life stuff, such as lipstick, marbles (called crystillized telekinesis), bottle caps (quenching emblem), and the like. The game seems to take place on Earth, according to various clues.

This game is outstanding. Don't rent, BUY! This game has tons of stuff to do! This review just scratched to surface of the game!
