This game is over 100% better than number one, even though I miss those little shy guys reeking havoc all over the town... I love the graphics and the new moves from the "cursed" chests. I am on the moon on one of my files, and on my other one i am at Twilight Town. I just liked the game so much! Most of the partners are remakes of the original allies, like Goombro got turned into Goombla. I haven't played the original in such a long time, so I don't remember the other allies names. But, the koopa in the first is replaced by Koops. The female bom-omb is replaced by Bomberto. The Boo is replaced by Flurrie/ Vivian. You get the idea. The following is a few tips to beat each boss. IF YOU DON'T NOT WANT TIPS, DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING!
Hooktail (Peatalburg/Hooktail castle) Long story short, he hates crickets. There is supposed to be one in the castle, but I have yet to find it. Also, once the chicken is defeated the first time (he starts with 20 HP), he will try to trick you into something. Keep saying NO! Most importantly when he offers to let you smell his feet. (Yes, he is a sick monster.) He will then EAT some of the audience. He will now have 10 HP. Just hammer him and the crystal star is yours!
Von Grapple (Boggly woods/ Great Tree) pretty simple, really. Just keep on attacking. I recommend not using goombela, for he has a defense of 1, making her attacks useless. When he sends out his hands, attack them first. They have an HP of 2. One of the easier boss battles.
Rawk Hawk/ Grubba (Glitzville/Glitz Pit) Rawk is the champion fighter, but one tip before you fight him. You will receive 2 cakes during your stay in the major leagues, the first one normal, the second one poison. Guess who? Rawk Hawk sent you the second cake. He fights dirty, well for now anyway. I recommend before starting this battle to equip the shrink stomp badge to lower his attack power. He has a high HP, but it fairly simple compared to what comes up next. Mr. Grubba. He might seem weak by the way he looks normally, but before the battle starts, he turns into Macho Grubba. He can power himself up, attack and defense wise. He can also increase the amount of times he attacks per turn. Once again, break out the shrink stomp. This is a pretty long battle, but if you keep using those items and special moves (especially Earth Tremor) you should win.
??? (Twilight Town/ Creepy Steeple) This jerk will fight you twice, once as a person that looks like he has a blanket over his head, the other time when he is Mario and you have no identity. First fight, fairly easy. Second round, not so good. The bad news: all your partners think that he's you and your some lowlife fighting for no reason at all. The good news: Vivian (yes, the shadow siren) is a new partner. If you win this battle, you will be Mario again. (Yay!)
Note: the following battles might not be in correct order.
Cortez/ X-nauts (Keyhaul Key/ Pirates' Grotto) Cortez might be harder, but don't FORGET TO SAVE! I did, and boy, I beat the X-nauts by the skin of my teeth. So, Cortez. Evil pirate ghost. Scary. Well, he really is, because once you think he's gone, he isn't. He has 3 forms! Yes three. One form (I believe it's the last) he's a floating head. Might sound easy, right? Wrong! He has 4 different types of swords with him, floating, that you can't attack normally. Anyone for Earth Tremor? Anyway, you could probably defeat him after a few tries. So after you get out of Pirates' Grotto, here come the X-nauts, on a ship. Just like in the Great Tree, just attack as much as you can. Items are very effective.
None! (Poshly Heights/ Poshly Express) Well, if you want where the crystal star is, it's in a room full of Boos. Easily avowing them, walk north and congratulations! End of chapter. I guess if you want to name a boss, you can say it's that thing that you fight while on the train. I mean, it's the only way to get to Poshly Heights. I guess, attack the arms, then attack the main body. It's the only way to do damage.
Grodious (Moon/ Moon Base) No data available. (Haven't fought him yet)
Rock on Paper Mario 2 !

For all gamers who want an awesome RPG to play this is the game for you!
Gameplay
This game's gameplay is very entertaining. Before I bought the game my brother thought this game was a waste of your money and would be extremely easy to beat and it would be a boring game. Not at all! In the field screen you are paper mario (duh) and you are with another partner (you get partners in the game). You talk around, find secret areas, solve mind blowing puzzles (they'll stump you a lot), buy new items, obtain badges and other items, and explore. Since the game is called paper mario mario has many unique abilities such as folding up in an airplane or rolling up in a tube. On your journey there will be puzzles that you will have to solve-and trust me they're hard. You will also find many different items to help you on your quest such as the Quake Hammer (it's a badge) which powers up your hammer in the game. During your adventure you will encounter many different creatures that may try to block your play. When you touch them you will go to the battle screen. Depending on who attacked first the battle sequence will let that person or thing attack first and then you will return to the normal battle sequence which is: you or your partner attacks, then vice versa, then the enemy. In battle there will be an audience.Depending on your battling they will either give you helpful items and star power or they will throw items at you to hurt you. There are many badges in which you can do special moves. Also you can defend yourself, use star power specials, attack reguraly,or appeal to the audience. That's all I have to say about gameplay.
Story
The story goes that Princess Peach gets captured by the X-Nauts. There is this thousand year door where a hidden treasure lay (maybe) and peach has a map. In order to unlock the door 7 crystal stars must be obtained. Mario and his friends have a map that shows the location of the crystal stars. The X-Nauts are also after the crystal stars. Mario must obtain the crystal stars before the X-Nauts do and save peach!
Audio
The audio in this game is one minor set back. The music in the game aren't the best. For example there is this one tune that has a few notes to it then it repeats. It's kind of annoying. The music isn't bad though. There are some tunes that will appeal to your ear. As for the sound effects, they are ok too.
Overall
Paper Mario 2 is a great RPG with awesome gameplay and graphics!
One of the best games for gamecube ever

I love RPG's. I consider myself a very hardcore RPG gamer, I love them with all my heart, I put vast amounts of time into them, and I am proud of my work with them. So, is it a suprise that I like Paper Mario? Well, it should not be. Like any true gamer the biggest factor is still fun. And Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door delivers. For one, the game is hysterical. With intelleigent subtle humor, the game goes far. The graphics are beautiful, fun and cartoony, so the game never weighs its self down. Though it's not too long (about 25 hrs without getting all the badges and sidequests, and maybe around 30-35 with) the game still gives you a good solid bit of gameplay. The controls are easy to catch on to, and the battles are extremely fun, and vary each time. Over the course of the game you collect different side kicks, as in all RPGs. You can only use one at a time in battle, but can switch between them with the tap of a button. Each one has different abilities to get you through certain places, so the game does require a small bit of thinking. One of the things I enjoyed the most about the game, is that although it is chaptermatic, it is not by the book. A certain chapter takes place on a train, where there is very little fighting, and it is your job to solve mysteries. It gives you a nice break from the typical gameplay, and it's a new fun take on classic Mario. I really really enjoyed this title. it has tremendous replay value, seeing as each time you play through, it will be a totally new experience. The badge system is great, giving you certain abilities with each one equiped. And altough the leveling up process requires you to choose only one of (Flower Power, Heath Power, or Badge Power) each time, it adds a new kind of challenge which requires you to think ahead. Now granted, this is nothing like Chrono Trigger or any of the Final Fantasy games, this is not a hard core RPG, but rather just a fun laid back walk in the park for RPG fans and just gaming fans alike. I'm pretty sure that no matter who you are, you will really enjoy this game, it's just a blast. If you don't check it out, you are certaintly missing out on something great.
Fun Game!!

The game begins where Princess Peach entrusts Mario with a map which leads to the location of the Thousand-Year Door. Then, Mario has to go and find Crystal Stars to bring to the door. That's how it starts....
Mario soon ends up in Petal Meadows where he and his friend Goombella see a gigantic dragon flying to a far away castle. From there the long adventure goes on. This is probably the first and only Paper Mario game I've ever played but it's worth it!
If you don't like this game, then you suck!

When I first heard this game was coming out, I was excited, as I really enjoyed the original. Turns out I had a good reason to be excited, as this game RAAAAAWKS! And here's plenty of reasons why.
-Excellent graphics, despite being somewhat "kiddy", as some may call them
-A simplistic, yet fun battle system
-Lots of cool puzzles, some of which require a paper ability, or some partner ability. They're all just cool in general. Some require a bit of backtracking, which can get annoying from time to time, but that's no big deal.
-Speaking of paper abilities you get cool paper abilities such as paper tube, paper airplane, etc.
-Lots of fun star power attacks
-Lots of fun partner attacks
-Some cool mid-chapter events
-Can upgrade your partners to give them more attacks
-Lots of cool sound/music, including some from old Mario games
-You get to play as Bowser at the end of each chapter, and get to play as him on a SMB like stage every other chapter
-Many cool partners, including a Yoshi kid with an awesome attitude
-Plenty of hilarious dialogue, both in main parts of this game, as well as some optional dialogue that you can get from talking to other people, and such. It may be in text, but most of it is still plenty funny.
-And much, much more
To put it simply, this game is excellent. It's just plain fun and addictive, and hard to get tired of. There will be some people who will diss this game because it's "kiddy" and "too easy", unlike most rpgs, and maybe also diss it for some other dumb reasons, too. But I found this game to be quite enjoyable. If you don't mind lighthearted rpgs, then this game is definitely worth buying, a rental at the very least. However, I WOULD like to add that this is one of those games that starts out kinda slow, and....not as interesting as it could be at first. But it definitely picks up after chapter 2. And despite it being one of those games that starts out slow, it's still an excellent game overall.
Simply put, this game RAAAAAAAWKS!
Fantastic!

I've always been a fan of Mario, and this is, by far, one of the best Mario games yet.
I love how the graphics are simple, yet so high-quality at the same time. Video games have come a long way, and this is a good example to prove my point. The dialogue made me chuckle, the puzzles were challenging, the characters were unique and lovable and the fighting kept me on my toes. Not to mention that I just LOVE the music, to the point where I find myself humming it throughout the day! Once I picked up the controller, it was hard to put it down.
My only gripe is that there were times where tasks were given with little to no direction. I had to run to the FAQs far too many times for my liking, which is the one and only reason I can't give this game 5 stars. But the pros definitely outweigh the cons, so it's something that I'm willing to overlook. I would certainly reccomend this game.

This game is a totaly worth the money! You see, it beats the original in every aspect! Pricess Peach has been kidnapped, again. (*groan* Is getting kidnapped her hobby? ;) ) Anyway, SURPRISE this time she has been kidnapped by these mentally challenged guys called X-Nauts. :( They have a BIG and VERY BAD plan for her(I've gotta secret and I'm not going to tell you! :() ) But Mario must team up with 6 new partners AND a secret 7th one. Can he save Peach? It's up to you!!!
The cream of the Gamecube's RPG crop!

Paper Mario 2 The Thousand Year door is probably one of the best RPGs to come out for the Gamecube in a while. It is definitely of of my top 5 favorite RPGs for the system. But enough about me. This game is the successor to Paper Mario for the N64.
For those who remember it, the premise was that Mario is flat like a sheet of paper while his surroundings are all in 3D. The surroundings are presented in a way that is reminiscent of a pop-up book. Paper Mario includes a simple turn-based battle system that is relatively easy to master.
Nintendo has kept the unique look of the surroundings and made a small change to the battle system for the sequel. Any time you go into a battle you are brought to a stage where your performance will either cause your audience(which grows with your popularity) to cheer you on or throw things at you.
Newcomers will love the new moves available to Mario, such as turning into a paper airplane to fly short distances. Long time fans will love the expanded assortment of badges and recipes, plus seeing new locations and meeting new partners.
One of the best parts of this game is the Pit of 100 Trials. This Pit is a series of 100 levels filled with enemies to battle. Your goal is to beat each enemy and move down each level. You can only use whatever items you bring with you. Fortunately, you can leave the pit after every 10th level to restock. Doing this however, means you have to start over from the beginning all over again. Beating the pit is the biggest challenge in the game.
This game is a very good RPG and one that any Gamecube owner should have on their shelves. I give this game a 5 out of 5.
It's a blast!

I have this game and am almost done with it. It is an adventure that takes you eveywhere, even on the moon! Instead of those games that you never have the chance to attack because the opponent is so good, you take turns so that you can actually attack. The downside is that the opponent gets to attack to, so there is no way around it. This game has different stages of each level and things to earn or unlock. I believe that this is a really good game for your mind too. You need the ability to think on your toes.
