Ruthless Roaring Ring Rumpus

This game has several notable positive aspects:
-You can complete the game without worrying much about "combination" attacks. On the other hand, you are rated on style for each mission. If you want to achieve the highest ratings, you need to use a variety of attacks, making use of the combos.
-The feel of the game is very similar to the movie, perhaps mostly due to the great soundtrack.
-Especially by the end of the game, there are just tons of enemies to kill at once. As unrealistic as that might seem, it mirrors the movie perfectly.

The one negative of this game is that it should be multiplayer. I'm not accusing the developer of making an oversight, since adding this feature is obviously complicated. However, many of the missions are played alongside computer-controlled Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli. It's hard not to wonder how much more fun the game would be if you had a friend controlling one of them.

If you're not a LotR fan then DON'T buy this game. If you are an LotR fan than this is a MUST HAVE. Here's why:

PROS:
One word: storyline. What could be better than a nice LotR video game? The game can sometimes be addicting despite it's poor graphics. However, the game is FUN! Fight through TONS OF ORCS AND URUK-HAI, use Uruk-Hai explosives, and slay a few trolls. LotR Two Towers is begginer friendly, starting out with Isildur to introduce you to the game's controls and such. Getting bored with Two Towers is not a problem, until you've finished the game that is.
CONS:
Two Towers is hard to understand from an outsider's view. The graphics are HORRIBLE, and some of the levels are REALLY BORING! (Like Fangorn for instance). The game is short, nut same goes for RotK and Third Age so this is not a problem for most fans. Did I mention that the graphics were horrible? They could even give you a headache sometimes like after you fight in an area with NO LIGHT for a long time, and you CAN'T SEE AT ALL! Plus, you can only fight with THREE CHARACTERS.
HOW YOU SHOULD PLAY:
You can fight with Aragorn, Gimli, or Legolas. Aragorn and Legolas are probably the most addicting characters, but Legolas' has low health. Gimli is the strongest one, and Aragorn is a combination of each. If you are a begginer or want it easy than I reccomend you play as Aragorn. If you want a challenge play as Gimli, and if you are a FAN WANTING THE BEST FUN POSSIBLE, play as Legolas. I reccomend him as a fan and Aragorn as a gamer.

The Lord of the Rings the Two Towers is the best game!!! You can be
Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli. Each of them have there own special abilities. Like for instance aragorn can use a sword or a bow n arrow. Legolas uses two daggers and a bow n arrow. Finally, Gimli can use an axe and a throwing axe. In the lord of the rings the two towers, u fight a variety of orcs, trolls, saruman, and other kind of Saurons minions. You can play levels such as helms deep, the mines of moria, and many other locations. the graphics are so real! in the game they show clips from the new movie of lord of the rings and u cant even tell if u are watchin the movie still or if it is time to play the game. I cant wait until it finally comes out. so i think that u should consider buying the lord of the rings the two towers for nintendo gamecube.

Pretty Good Game

The Two Towers was an excellent movie. The game is pretty decent seeing the expectations that is put on something like it. The Two Towers is almost exactly like the movie. You replay some of the scenarios from the first movie "The Fellowship of the Ring."

You have three choices of characters for the game. You can be Gimli, Aragorn, and Legolas. You build experience points up in the game which let you upgrade combo moves and weapons. After you've beaten the game with the characters you can unlock some cool secrets. Aragorn is easily the best of the three characters with Gimli second and the elf in third.

The graphics are pretty good considering the scale they made the game on. The Helms Deep levels look kind of cheesy, but it's hard to make something look that realistic. Everything moves pretty crisp and the music and sound effects are great.

There are some other specials with the game. You can unlock interviews with the cast of the game and watch scenes from the second movie. They are pretty decent and are only entertaing like the first time you watch it.

I give the game four stars. It would have gotten five if they could have made some kind of two player gameplay. It's still a pretty good game despite that flaw and fans of LOTR should pick this one up.

Very Fun, But Not As Fun As ROTK

I purchased the Return of the King game several months ago and decided to get the Two Towers. The graphics aren't as good as ROTK, but then again, it's a couple of years older - so that can be looked beyond. The game play is very fun and the Helm's Deep levels are pretty intense. I found the Helm's Deep levels to be harder than any level on ROTK. The only disappointing things about this game is that it seemed short and there is no two-player play like ROTK. But, putting aside the graphics because of its age, it is a really fun game and it was worth the $20.

Great fun....

I personally find this game to be great fun because you can just sit there and chop away. It is not hard for a beginner to learn how to play, I know, because my father who has NEVER played a video game in his life even tried it and he was able to beat the Ring Wraiths. The worst part of this game is that you can only play as 3 characters. HOWEVER, for those of you who dont mind waiting, Surreal Software is coming out with a version of their own of The Two Towers. BUT, the difference is that Surreal's version will follow more closely to the book. The BEST part about the upcoming title by Surreal is that you will be able to play as Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Sam, Frodo, and EVEN as Gollum. Although you cant play as Gandalf. Word from Surreal is that this version is 80% finished, and will be out for X-Box and POSSIBLY Gamecube. So lookout! For those who didnt like the EA version, you might like Surreal's version better!!

Incredible!!!!!!

This is the best action game I've ever played, on any console. The control is near perfect, allowing you to choose and perfect your own fighting style, whether you like to run into the middle of a pile of Orcs and start hacking away, which is Gimli's forte, or pick Sauron's forces off from afar, which Legolas is good at. The graphics are at least as good as on any other game, down to the beautiful backrounds, and the sound is great, from the clang of weapons to the music which changes to fit the situation. It also holds your intrest long after you've beaten it, which is a huge plus. And the secret codes? Fun and unique.

I cant wait for the next game!

When i first got the game i thought it was going to be good but boy was I wrong...IT WAS AWSOME!!!! Even though its a bit on the short side every level is worth playing over again(you cant go back and play levels with the same character you beat it with, until you beat the game with one character). The graphics are not as great as starfox but they still show off gamecube's awsome system. With 12 levels, a secret level, 3 characters and a secret character this is one of my favorite games I have. The factor that makes the game alot more interesting though is, every time you kill an orc, ura kai etc. you get a certain amount of points wich can be put towards getting new combos(some which are from the movies) and upgradeable wepons. Belive me you wont regret getting this game!

Great game.

This was actually the first game I ever played on GameCube, and I beat it in four days. (That should tell you how easy most of the game is). On the first day, I beat the first six levels. I beat the next four on the second day. Then I was stuck on the breached wall for two days. But on the fourth day, I beat both that level and the last level. The breached wall is TOO HARD!! Jeeze!! I GARANTEE that you will be frustrated with that level.

I speak as one who has beaten and mastered the game. Not a fool, who has beaten the first few levels and is stuck.

The game focuses on fighting. Nothing more. However, that is surprisingly fun. I am speaking as a total LOTR nut though. If you are not, then it may not be as fun. If you like games filled with puzzles and things to challenge your brain, then this is not a game for you. If you like hack-and-slash fighting games, then this is definitely a game for you. And, of course, if you like Lord of the Rings then you will not go without this.

Even though the game focuses only on fighting, it is more than just pressing the same button time and time again, hoping not to get hit. It has a very unique combat system that puts your skill to the test rather than your thumbs. All six of the GameCube's buttons have a specific function. A does a quick slash. Y does a fierce hit. B blocks blows. X kicks your enemy back. L readies a ranged weapon.(A to fire) And R does a stabbing move that you use when your enemy is knocked down. Not only that, but there are dozens of button combos you can use. But that actually is one of the game's downfalls. This is why: First and foremost, there are so many combos, with each involving 3-4 buttons each, there is no way to memorize and use all of them. Two, when you are in a melee (Which is about 95% of the game), there is absolutely no way to sucsessfully complete a combo. A slash from an enemy cuts it off, and you will inevitably just be mashing the A or Y buttons. Besides, they usually only for use against a single target. Combos are useful when you are up against maybe two or three enemies at most, but when you have about three dozen enemies at each side, they are useless.

That is one of the game's main downfalls.

The storyline follows that of the movies very closely, with a few liberties taken. (Such as the Fangorn and Rohan levels). But they add to the game, and are fun levels. In fact, if they hadn't added these levels, the game would be far too short. And it is already quite short.

You get to play as three different characters in this game: Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. Aragorn is the best, Legolas is second, and Gimli third. They each have both melee weapons and ranged weapons. Aragorn and Legolas fire bows, and Gimli throws hatchets. (Which is sorta dumb.) How could someone carry 25 hatchets? Arrows are far better.

Aragorn is the best, because he mixes both strong sword attacks and good ranged attacks. Legolas is the weakest of the three, and dies in the least hits. His sword attacks are a little lacking, but his bow attacks are devestating. Gimli is a powerhouse, but slow. And his ranged attacks stink. And being slow is not good in many levels, where it is basically a race against time.

The game enviroments are good-looking, but they do not allow you to explore in the least. There are set paths to follow. You can never get lost this way, but the fun of exploring wide environments is stolen away. (If you ever do get lost in this game, something is seriously wrong with you.) The best thing about them is how well they re-create places from the film, such as Helm's deep and Balin's tomb. It is so awesome to be able to actually fight in these places from the film.

The character graphics look OK. Not great, not bad. (Return of the Kings graphics are far, far better).

Despite some flaws, this is one of the best games I have ever played. If you love action games or LOTR, then I would definitely reccomend it.

Here are some cheat codes. I used many of them throughout the game. To use them, then pause the game during gameplay and hold down the L and R buttons. Then enter the following as needed:

If you keep dying in level, then use this:
Restore life to 100%: Y, Down, A, Up

Slow motion: Y, X, A, B

Instant 1000 Experience: A, Down, Down, Down

The following cheats are the ones I used the most. They are useful if you realize that you did not purchase something you should have. One bummer in the game is that you can only purchase combos and upgrades at the end of a level. (Example: Darn, that upgrade I didn't buy sure would help right now...) Just enter the code. A shattering-type sound will confirm.

Level 2 Skills: X, Right, X, Right

Level 4 Skills: Y, Up, Y, Up

Level 6 Skills:B, Left, B, Left.

Level 8 Skills: A, A, Down, Down.

The following cheats you can only use once you beat the game:
Restore Ammo: A, Down, Y, Up

Invincibility: Y, B, A, X

Devastating attacks: B, B, X, X

Small enemies: Y, Y, A, A

Infinite arrows and axes: B, X, A, Y
