This is a must have for GameCube! The whole game begins with the very cool introduction from the first film. The begining level throws you on the slop of Mount Doom as Isildor faced with the onslaut of Mordor. After this level is through your introduced to the Ringraiths then the real fun begins. As you travel through the game you'll meet many freeky foes including Ringraiths,Uruk-Hai,and every type of Orc you can imagine.(I'll leave the rest of the enemies for you to discover.)Your choice between heroes is Aragorn,Legolas, and Gimli.Legolas, the hyper archer and speed demon.Gimli,an axe wielding Orc killer;and Aragorn,(You gotta love his moves!)This game rocks!

LotR: The Two Towers is the video game tie-in from EA that spotlights the action sequences from the first two films in the series. Choose from Aragorn, Legolas and Gimili, and fight through locations like Balin's tomb, Fangorn Forest, Rohan, and Helm's Deep. EA managed to snag the original cast from the films, so not only will you be hearing their authentic voice-overs as you play, but you can also unlock movie clips where they discuss the recording process.

I actually played the Return of the King game before Two Towers, making for an interesting experience. Return of the King adds several enhancements to the graphics engine and fine-tunes the gameplay, not to mention allowing you to play as nearly the entire fellowship. Two Towers feels very limited in comparison, and many of the missions feel horribly short (you're in and out of Rohan before you know it). It's only the last three missions in Helm's Deep that offer any challenge, and coupled with the awesome graphical effects its clear that the designers based the game around this scenario. What Two Towers does right though, is moderate the difficulty level. The last few levels of Return of the King were kicking/screaming unfairly frustrating, whereas the challenge in Two Towers is high without losing the fun factor. I want to concentrate on killing the enemy, not worry about my teammates who can't take care of themselves.

Overall, Return of the King is technically the better game all around, with 2 player action, more characters, better graphics, etc. But both games are very well put together, and its worth the cash for Lord of the Rings fans to have both in their library.

decent for a beat 'em up, unplayable if you like lord of the rings

I bought these for my son, who likes them, but hasn't seen the films. Being a modest Lord of the Rings fan, who's seen the extended versions and the regular versions of the films many times apiece, who's read the Lord of the Rings, and read some essays and books about Tolkien; I was gravely disappointed.

I'll put up their flimsy defense first: EA had the license only from material from the films, not the books. Therefore all material used in the game could only be culled from the films or completely fabricated.

What they did do was take the material of the films, already edited and manipulated from the book and reduced and recyled even more, then added stunningly made up scenes that actually contradict what happens in its parent work. It's unbearable.

Examples:
* Many levels are complete fabrications that have no relevance to it's source material. The Rohan attack and the camp of Orcs in Fangorn come to mind.

* Dialog was created by the actors that simplifies the story. The Merry, Pippin, and Sam are seen in the video clips but not mentioned in the storyline. The remaining fellowship actively helps Frodo escape the attack of the Uruk-hai that killed that poor guy with the horn (Boromir, if you like the source material).

The game itself is similar to "Bad Dudes" or "Double Dragon." Graphically it's much better, but the premise, to kill everything, is the same. I can see it being a quick and easy way into the LOTR universe, for 10-13 year olds, but avoid it if you're a LOTR fan.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is an excellent game. It gives you the exact feel of the movies as you play as Aragorn, Gimli or Legolas with the voices of the original actors who portrayed them on the big screen. Even if you are not a fan of LOTR you will have a blast. This game is challenging don't be fooled!!! but is also lots of fun. The additional stuff like interviews and behind the scenes of the making of the game is also pretty cool. If you are a fan of the movies or fan of action/adventure games this is a must.

This game is incredible!! The graphics are amazing and the levels are soooooooo much fun.. Here are my favorite charicters from like the most and don't like the most.

Legolas- The best person to play on the game. Hands down. He can get all sorts of arrows (including fire) and is very powerfull.
Aragorn- Amazing. Not as good as Legolas but close he can get very good power up moves and is pretty powerful.
Gimli- Ok. Not great but not lousy either, just ok. He isn't very fast, but he is pretty powerful. He gets ok power ups but not as good as any of the other charicters.

Fun game, gets old

This game lasted me a while- until I beat it. It provides a challenge, but there are only 10 levels and one secreat one. I suggest this game if you're a die-hard Lord Of The Rings fan because after playing certain levels with certain characters, you unlock exclusave interviews, screenshots from the movie, and...*dum ta da dum* Isildor as a charactor! Other than that, the cutscenes are mostly from the movie, and that's about all I have to say.

Buy this game!! It rocks, just like the movie! It may not be much of an exploring game, but when it comes to orc killing, mass chaos, and all out battle, including the defense of Helm's Deep, this game has it all, whether you're Legolas the bowman, Aragorn the cool swordsman, or Gimli the axe-wielding, crazy dwarf. As if killing orcs isn't cool enough, if the game gets boring, you can always go back and master the combos, which puts a whole new spin on slaying.
