So Much Fun, So Many Things To Do! A Classic!!!

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (the game) by EA Games is sooooooo much fun in so many ways. From the fantastic graphics to the breathtaking story, this game will keep you interested for many hours of gameplay to come. Here is why you HAVE to buy The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers for the Nintendo GameCube.

1. Gameplay: So much fun! The basic story is well...you start out on Mount Doom (in the Fellowship of the Ring. You play first through the first movie, then the second in the Two Towers. Great deal ($$$)), where u take on as the character Isiledor (don't know how to spell his name). You learn all of the basic moves: block, attack, fierce attack, etc... Then u are ready to begin your battle to destroy the ring!

Before each level u choose a character: either Legolas, Gimli, or Aragorn. Gimli is EXTREMELY strong and high on health, but is a very slow attacker. Legolas is fast, quick, with swift attacks, and very strong moves. Unfortunantly, he is the weakest of the 3, and dies much quicker. And last, but not least, Aragorn, with a swift and cunning sword, and an awsome bow and arrow, is the most balanced of the 3. Strong, a good fighter, and pretty fast, Aragorn will get u through almost any obstacle. A very good fighter indeed.

When u beat a level, it gives u points on certain things. How well u fought, your health, your supplies, how many kills u got. With the "points" u earn, u can buy upgrades for each character and boost their level up to a 10. You can sometimes buy new equipment, new moves, new powers, etc...it's really cool. And u can go back and do each level as the other 2 characters, so u can get all of them up to a 10. In the end u have an awsome fighter, and it's really cool to see a super strong Legolas fighting dozens of Orcs, or to watch a powerful Gimli cut through dozens of Orcs in Dwarf style.

As for the gameplay itself, it's sooo much fun! Battleling through dozens of Orcs, shooting arrow after arrow, and defending your other soldiers. Imagine Helm's Deep brought to life, trying to stay alive as Legolas, shooting Orc after Orcs with arrows, and using fierce attack when it they get too close. This game is a blast, and the ability to earn points and upgrade your character just adds to all the fun. The gameplay is so addicting, and I always come back within a few hours of stopping for MORE!!!

2. Graphics: While the screenshots didn't look all that impressive, during gameplay, they look fantastic! You fight dozens of Orcs, each with the horrible, menacing teeth and face, body, and the armor to go with it. Flaming arrows fly toward you from hundreds of yards away. Respond with arrows of your own! Fight off the Ring Raithes from decending on Frodo, or fight with man-kind as you battle through Helm's Deep! It's soooooo cool, and the graphics bring it to life. Don't judge it by the screenshots, just trust me. During the game, they look AWSOME!!!

3. Replay Value/ Sound: To go with all this is the voice acting from the movie it self, and the sounds are awsome. Here an arrow THUD into an enemy, or hear swords clash in a huge underground battle. The sound was fantastic, and to go with everything else, wraps this up in a perfect package. But that's not all! When completing certain challenges, u can see clips from the new movie itself, and watch even the making of the game, and interviews of the men and women who made the whole Lord of the Rings experience so fun to be a part of! Very well put together, the unlockables will keep u begging for more!

As for the replay value, it's just so much fun to go back and try to beat it again in a new game, and of course, to raise the difficulty setting (easy, normal, hard). All in all, it's a true blast! Or tryin to go back and earn more points each time!

I hope this helped, and helped convince u to pick up this incredible game. You won't be dissapointed! Through all of the awsome gameplay, the incredible fun, and the overall depth this game dives into, this is a must-have, a classic, and a game no action loving gamer should be without (not to mention any major Lord of the Ring fan).

To start, you have to choose between Gimli the dwarf, Aragorn the ranger, or Legolas the elf, each with their own special moves, attacks, and power-ups. Gimli uses his powerful axes to attack in close range combats, and throws his axes to attack from long distances. Aragorn uses his mighty sword to attack in close range combats, and throws arrows from his bow to attack from long distances. Legolas uses his cool swords (two of them) to attack in close range combats, and uses arrows from his bow to attack from long distances. These weapons can be up-graded while you progress in the game. For example, the arrows can be up-graded into fire arrows, which give more damage. Each character has his stats in a different way: Legolas is the fastest in throwing arrows and attacking, but he is the weakest (if an enemy attacks him, he will lose more life than the rest of the crew). Gimli is the strongest, but he is the slowest of all. Finally, Aragorn is all-round, which means he has all his stats equal or similar.
Once you begin your journey, you will have to battle two mayor events from the Fellowship of the Ring: The Mines of Moria and the final battle against the trolls (at the end of the movie). The game has 12 levels, plus one secret. It is a bit short and has no mulitplayer mode, you will beat it in about 7 to 10 hours max, but the game has lots of things to return for. I would have like to play as Gandalf, but you can't. Even though you can't choose him, he participates on the battles as a CPU AI.
The game might be short for some, but the replay value is great. Plus you can unlock a secret character after beating it(Isildur). For the fans, this game is a most!!

I loved the movie. I loved the book. So, here comes the game... Your chance to be Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli.

- Graphics: The graphics look really great. Not as good as the Resident Evil or Metroid Prime, but still pretty good. There are waterfalls, fire, rocks, and all kind of things. The characters are alike from the ones in the movies.. All fine.
- Sounds: This is the best thing. You're getting, with this game, the original voices of the characters from Lord Of The Rings movie! Orlando Bloom, Viggo M., John Rhys-Davies, Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood... And, like if that wasn't enough, the soundtrack is the one from the movies! What else can you expect?
- Fun: If you liked the movie, then it's EXTRA fun! It's so much cool to defeat Orcs, Uruk Hai, and plenty of other races... Bosses such as the Cave Troll, Lurtz.. As you play, you unlock interviews with the actors, pictures, secret levels, cheats and a secret character (I won't tell you who it is... Let it be a surprise). As you play, you win experience points, so you can buy weapon upgrades, and this kind of stuff. You can also increase your level, from 1 to 10.
- Educative: There is some violence and some blood too. Nothing to worry about, kids can play it. You use swords and things to kill creatures, blood is spilled, but nothing that violent.

This is the game that will make you experience the power of the One Ring. If you are a Lord Of The Rings fan, this is your game...

A great rendition of the Movies and books

This is a great game, it blends real scenes from the movie into the game. Sometimes you don't even know you have started! The graphics are amazing and so is the gameplay; the controls are great and blend perfectly with the game. The levels are directly from the movie; there is Weathertop(where Aragorn,aka Strider, fights off the evil Nazgul, the robed guys) there is also Moria(where they fight the troll and Orcs)and many other events from the movie. The final level is Helm's Deep; Helm's Deep is in The Two Towers movie and it is where the Riders Of Rohan and Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf all fight the Uruk-Hai(they are the evil orc-troll things that come from the mud). Trust me, this game has amazing graphic, excellent gameplay(controls) and I recommend it. Please get this game when it comes out on January 1st!

The best hack n' slash, plus its Lord of the Rings

This game has you control the fighters in the Fellowship, Aragorn the Ranger, Legolas the Elf, and Gimli the Dwarf, each with their own pros and cons. This game blends movie clips and and the game itself seamlessly, and sometimes you don't realize that the level has started until you've been damaged!
I was totaly(pleasantly)suprised at the prologue to this game, in which you play as Isildur and kick some Orc booty. Oh yeah. The graphics are extremely well done, the sound is awesome(you'll be hearing the original score in the background)!! This game also treats you to countless romps with Orcs and Trolls...
You got - - Goblins
- Moria Orcs
- Cave Trolls
- Normal Orcs, and Orc archers
- Forest Trolls
- Uruk-Hai scouts, bezerkers, footsoldiers, etc.
Although the doesn't really pick up until Balin's Tomb, this game slowly eases you into each character's skills and combos so you won't trip out when you find yourself hopelessly sarrounded by the enemy. It's a must for any casual gamers, Rings fan, and hack n' slash fan.

I love the Lord of the Rings so this may be a bit biased, but I will also give you the facts: The Two Towers a GREAT game, better than The Fellowship of the Ring (PS2) by a long shot. The graphics are excellent but can be a little bit choppy at times, goblins, orcs, Uruk-hai, Saruman, cave trolls, wargs, ring wraiths....they're all there. The good guys? Frodo, Gandalf, Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli, and also large armies of elves and men (Helms Deep). As most people are saying, the game is on a very large scale. There are huge armies of orcs, Uruk-hai, goblins, even wargs. At helms deep, the third part, there are at any given time, at least 100 bad guys that are active and actually able to fight with. A VERY important part of the game is that you choose your upgrades wisely, some them are required in certain levels.

The Characters:

Legolas: This elf is quick, fast, and a good shot with a bow...but he lacks the strength and close combat skills needed for the majority of the game. Standing back and shooting randomly with his bow wont do much good 99% of the time.

Aragorn: This ranger should definitely be your first pick. He is fast, has a lot of good sword combos, and his bow is almost equal to that of Legolas. He packs plenty of power for hand to hand combat and enough skill to deadly from long range.

Gimli: This dwarf would be my second pick after Aragorn. He is fast (despite what other people are saying), very, very powerful with his axe, but....his throwing axes are just terrible. They go really slow, and dont do a lot of damage.

Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers slips the game player into the guise of either Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli and transports him/her into pre-fellowship action in the middle of director Jackson's fantastically envisioned film. Everything you could imagine from the film is recreated in this game; the sound effects, the musical score, the scenery, even the characters themselves use the actors' voices. Simply amazing and a lot of fun. Using film clips, the game shifts from the film's storytelling as a backdrop and literally morphs into gameplaying mode where you as one of the fellowship battle nazguls, orcs, trolls and uruk-hais, all leading to the ultimate battle of Helms Deep. After each mission, your character's skills are evaluated and you are awarded points that buy you skill upgrades. Each completed mission allows entry into other paths on the Middle Earth menu where photos from the movie and interviews with the actors can be viewed, and secret missions for each of the characters can be played.

The violence portrayed in this game is similar to that in the movie---there is much swordplay and strategy employed to beat the orcs, but all of this is virtually bloodless. Parnets considering the purchase of this game need not fear. If you took your children to the movie, let that be your guide while purchasing the game. I played this game with my son over the holidays and found it to be both challenging and fun---educational too as it provoked conversation about Tolkien's vast imagination.

The levels challenge considerably; they are not a walk in the park---the graphics are amazing. With this in mind, I think all gamers interested in the grand quest would enjoy The Two Towers. After playing this game, I will definitely purchase The Return of the King.

Is this all you can conjure Saruman?

One can already tell that I've become somewhat obsessed with the Two Towers. I assumed that since the movie was great, and the book was great, and the soundtrack was great that the game would be as well... The good news is that the game is very fun, the bad news is that its very short, and a mockery of great graphics. Anyone boasting about how good this game looks, I'm sorry, must be blind. Although there are many digitized scenes from the movie included in this game there are some pretty terrible CGI FMV sequences that wouldn't have even looked good on the original Playstation, maybe for the Sega CD... The in game graphics are low polygon, and poorly textured... darn Resident Evil, you raised the bar so high!
Playstation fans have been boasting for months about how great this game is. Now I'm reminded why I don't use my PS2 very often.
The GameCube version supposedly features a hidden level and character not found in the XBox and PS2 versions. Please note that I do not know if this is true or not, but the back of the GCN version does state "Exclusive hidden level and character to unlock." I can confirm that it has the fastest load times of the three, but if its graphics you want don't worry, all three versions look pretty bad.
The thing is that Lord of the Rings could make an excellent video game or series. The problem is that nobody has done it right. The game should be an RPG, either turn based, or action based. The game should include every intricate detail from the books and the movies, and should go where no game has dared to go.
I think the problem is that EA was afraid of surpassing the movie in the presentation front, something they should not have been afraid to do. EA usually does a great job with their movie licenses, but unfortunately, this time the game comes out as average. Unlike the books and the movie this game has little to no artistic value, and presents itself as an attempt to cash in on what has sadly become a huge cash cow. The game is fun, but not what it should have been, so I give it three stars... and I will continue to dream of a day when I can play Lord of the Rings developed by Squaresoft, for either XBox or GameCube because no matter how many people deny it, PS 2 is just technically inferior to both by a long shot.

CONTROLS - 4/5
There are lots of different moves you can preform, so at first it will be a little difficult trying to remember which button does which move. Lukily it doesn't take too long to get the hang of it. And after you gain experience points from defeating enemies, you can purchase cool combo moves.

The only thing that bugs me is that you can't preform a simple jump, since TTT isn't a platform-jumping type of game. That took some getting used to.

GRAPHICS - 5/5
The graphics are superb. All the characters look almost exactly like they do in the movie. The scenery is very realistic and detailed. (Also, you can unlock interviews with the cast and stuff about the making of the game.)

GAMEPLAY - 5/5
There are 12 levels and 5 secret levels you can unlock. The first five levels are from The Fellowship, the rest The Two Towers.

You can play as Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli. You can also unlock a secret character. I know a lot of people say that Legolas is pathetic, but I disagree. He carries two swords, one in each hand, so he can do some pretty cool moves. Although Legolas is the most easily injured, that's just part of what makes it challenging (but you can upgrade his health meter if you want to). When it comes to attacks, the Elf is the swiftest and the Dwarf the slowest. Aragorn can also do really cool moves, and he is fun to play. However, Gimli is difficult and his throwing axes (ranged weapon) almost never hit their mark.

The fighting is violent: it isn't rated TEEN for nothing. There's practically no blood and the enemies disappear once defeated, but I think that no one under the age of 13 should play it.

REPLAY VALUE - 5/5
The levels are definately worth playing twice, if not three times. Unfortunately, after you beat a level with, say, Aragorn (and then save), you can't go back and replay the level as Aragorn to get a better score. You can only go back as Legolas or Gimli.

DIFFICULTY - 3/5
Kinda easy. I haven't beat it yet, but after playing it for two hours, I was on level five. I hope the later levels get harder.

SOUND/MUSIC - 5/5
This game has the music and actors' voices from the movie. But it's kinda hard to tell what some of the characters say.

TOTAL - 27/30
I recommend this game to LOTR fans who like video games. It's definately worth it.

Overall this game deserves about 9/10 stars. You may play as Aragorn, Legolas or Gimili fighting through 12 levels ranging the from the first movie to the second (You can also unlock a secret character after you beat the game). Each character has ups and downs, which are pretty obvious. An average gamer should be able to beat the game in about 5 hours with one character. Here are my ratings:

Graphics- 8.5/10 The graphics on this game are desent. They do
not compare with SuperMarioSunshine or Metriod Prime. They have
been converted from the PS2.

Sound- 9/10 The sound comes strait from the musical score and the
actors. Great.

Replay value- 9/10 Most people don't think this. Once you have beaten the game you can go black with all of your upgrades and
kick butt.

Overall- 9.5/10 This is a great overall game. Great for LOTR fans.

* If you buy this game don't expect an RPG or no action!
