This is a good addition to the Sims. It is fun Having Pets in your household. Sometimes your yard gets infected by rabbits and it's good to have a cat to kill them. Dogs scare away those pesky racoons that always invade your yard and mess up the trash can. Eventhough having dogs and cats is fun, I usually get other animals that aren't as hard to take care of. This is a really good expantion and I highly recommend it.

The sims can now have pets! It is alot of fun, taking care of your pets.If your pets are happy and are well trained you can take them to shows, for a first, second, third and a award when you are not yet ready for shows.I also got to breed my pets which, was really cool, although you don't see it as a puppy. However if you do not take care of your pets a animal person will come and take the pet away.If you are not a dog, or cat person, you can get a turtle, fish, iguana, hampster, and birds.I did not have much of a problem with the stray pets. You can also plant a garden, but if your sim doesn't like it your fun goes down fast. You can store the vegatables and eat them or you can sell them. You can also go to places around the town, for a pet store, a garden place, and places to eat.
Hints:
*Do the cheat ctrl shift and c, and type in move_objects on. Now you can get rid of stuff you normally can't. Puddles, plates, bugs, and even the taxes!
*If your sim's mood is very low, do the move_objects on cheat and delete your sim, you have to be in buy mode. Then go to live mode and click on your sims face. The mood should go up. If you recently just got job points it will be erased.
*Do the cheat ctrl shift c and type in rosebud;: keep clicking enter and it will say no such cheat. Keep entering at you will get money faster.

I have known about this new release for about 1 1/2 months now. I have thought about the game and I am beginning to become skeptical. I do not think this release will be very impressive. The last 2 expansion packs weren't very impressive either.
It is a little known fact that Maxis has been developing The Sims since about 1985. The first title was an amazing breakthrough in gaming. The game sold like ice cream in the Sahara desert. People then begged for an expansion pack. Once again Maxis outdid itself. People chewed on Living Large for awhile and were ready for a 3 helping. That came almost 1 year later when Maxis blew people's minds with house party. So many new features, items, intereactions, and more! Then they got careless.
Maxis realized that they really had a big source of income. They imediately rushed to build Hot Date while people were still enjoying house party. They threw it out on the market and it was once again a big hit, but not as big as the others. Hot Date offered a whole new style of going downtown and meeting new people. It was a nice addition but not quite worth the money. Maxis really fell on their face when they shipped Vacation. It oferred hardly any new items and almost no itmems for home use. I was really dissapointed when I brought it home that day. They had used the exact same engine they used in Hot Date. They just changed the name and the backgrounds. They did have some cool new interactions, but certainly not worth 30 dollars. I am very skeptical about the upcoming release of unleashed. The name is very original and if you ask me, it doesn't seem like they have tried very hard. They have their minds set on money and new and upcoming ways to make lots of money. Maybe I am wrong and maybe I am right. The world will know on September 23rd of 2002.
I am still a loyal supporter of The Sims, but if this release is as embarrasing as Vacation then I will be diirecting my time to other places. My reccomendation is to wait until after the release of this product. Wait a good month or so and pick up the September and October issues of PC Gamer magazine. See what they say and take my opinions into consideration. Money is becoming an ever scarcer thing and it might be a better idea to invest it in other places. Just wait until October to buy this and be patient. See what people say and find as much information ad you can before making your decision. Good day... MASTER_G
Incredibly well done, a must have

Your sims are like your second family. Now you can adopt a cute kitten or puppy, or even get budgies, lovebirds, turtles, iguanas and goldfish!
There are all sorts of accessories that come with the pets, too. There are different sizes of cages for the birds, a fishbowl of course for the fish. There are lizard cages and turtle cages.
For the dogs and cats, there are climbing toys, squeeze toys, food dishes of various sizes, and an assortment of sleeping containers. You can go with the inexpensive curl-up spot to the deluxe canopied princess bed.
The birds and reptiles are just bought "as is", but when you buy your puppy or kitten you can choose its gender and from 15 different types. For cats, go from siamese to striped to minx with no tail. For the dogs, you can get 101 dalmatians, or maybe a terrier is more your style? The web also offers many, many other skin types if your favorite breed doesn't come with the software.
The pets are GREAT. The cats hunt mice, the dogs learn to sit and stay. You can play with your parakeets, taking them out on your finger. I have 3 parakeets at home and they chirp like wild when the budgies come on the screen! So the sounds are definitely very good.
In addition to the pets, this expansion also offers five new careers - education, fashion, circus, culinary and animal care. You can grow food in your garden if you wish, and there are new places to visit in town, including a pet show to show off your new friends.
But the highlight of course are the pets. You can't control them - you just interact with them. But the interaction can be quite fun. Before you know it, other neighborhood pets will be wandering by to say hello! A must-have for any Sim lover, it really adds a lot to an already addictive game.
Nice expansion pack... lots of new things to do and see.

I think this was my favorite expansion pack by far. But then again in real life i have lots of pets, and enjoy gardening... so it was almost custom-made for me. My only complaint is that things slow down a bunch when i go downtown, or when all my pets are moving at once, and i have a pretty good machine. I love that i can grow veggies and put them in the pantry and not have to buy food. I also love making garden gnomes and going downtown and giving them to new friends. This one has a high addict-ability level and maintains my interest in playing. I would say even more than hot date and vacation. I really like having an inventory and being able to give stuff to people. If you are a SIMS fan, i HIGHLY recommend this pack. Yes, there are bugs (like not being able to sit and watch tv and sometimes i have no body, just a head and hands, and such) but just go to the site and downlod the patches to make it all happy. Not a big deal. The pets are so complex and take a lot of training... the booklet doesn't give you too much info, but all the fun is figuring out the beasties. Enjoy!!!!
Pretty good, overall.

This is one of the best versions of the Sims I've played. It's very entertaining, and at the same time, frustrating. It's similar to our lives (especially those who have pets) when it comes to the animals. They make a mess (potty training will do the trick), are quite disobedient, and gets tiring, even if it's on a game. But it only makes it more fun. You have to be careful with your pet, though. Make sure you feed it. I had 2 cats, Amethyst and Cresent who died of starvation because of my laziness. I was pretty bummed. In addition, a good reason to get along with your pets is you can order them to attack people. Sounds fun, huh?
On Unleashed, you get more than 125 new items, including a vegetable garden where you can grow *duh* veggies. Best of all, you can sell them in Old Town, a new place to explore. You can decide whether to purchase or sell veggies. You can harvest them in a pantry. There are also objects made exclusively for your pets. I suggest this game to any Sims fan.

Maxiz has done it again...on the good side and the bad side.
Unleashed is a GREAT expansion pack. The addition of pets, interactions and the old towne are terrific, and make for rasically enhanced game play. There are thousands of different ways to make your Sims' lives good, better, or out and out foul. The concept of Unleashed and it's raising the bar on your game play make it a worthwhile addition.
That being said...if performance is an issue for you, I strongly recommend waiting until you upgrade or buy new. I have a pentium 4, 2.0 and 256 Ram, and still have performance issues. (And the system was straight out of the box when I installed it). So this resource-intensive game will potentially knock your performance level down some. Also...as tends to be the case with SIMS enhancements, it was released before it could be fully tested, or at least released before it had been, as this version is chock full of bugs. As of this writing, there are rumblings from MAXIS that patches will be available, so, before you purchase this, I would make sure MAXIS has the patch available.
