So in this game, you have the *Fantastic* option of getting your sim a lil' companion, such as a dog, cat, lizard, turtle, bird, or fish (I think I got that right.) So you can chose from getting several breeds of dog (Such as a rottwieler, a german shepherd, or a dalmation) or several breeds of cat. There are two types of birds, and then there are reptiles and fishies.
Also, for your plant-loving sims, there's gardening. Now, you can plant a variety of new crops in your garden with seeds! What fun!
Then there are new items...such as pet-related stuff. You can get doggie beds/bowls, cat toys, pet bathes...all this fun stuff that you can do endless stuff with! Okay, not endless. But there are other new things, too...like new couches, beds, chairs, tables...isn't that COOL?
So back to your lil' animal friends. They're not going to live on their own. You will need to feed them, play with them, and worst of all...TRAIN THEM. If you have a dog, they will urinate on the carpet, tear up stuff, chase your kitty(s), and be bad. So there is the dog trainer, but still. Work on it. Kitties are nicer, and will chase away those pesky mice that might just end up in your house.
Oh and some other unwelcome visitors might arrive. Like that kitty who stalks around and steals stuff.
Also, a male + female = puppies/kitties, if they get along. Don't be alarmed if it happens.
So beware. If you get this game, buy some doggies and kitties, train them, buy them stuff, and make sure they're satisfied. Happy training!

Each time Sims comes out with an expansion pack, it adds more than just what you find in the expansion pack itself. Let me explain. You can go online and download tons of items for your Sims. But certain expansion packs are required to make these items work. If you want any swings or sofas where your Sims can cuddle up together, or if you want curtains on your windows, you need the Hot Date expansion. If you want rugs on your floors or beds where your Sims can actually "get it on", you need the living large expansion.
The same goes with this expansion. If you want pets of ANY kind that actually behave like pets, you need this expansion. If you want to grow your own and then be able to use or eat those items, you need this expansion. This pack comes with cats and dogs as a the main pets. But if you want cows, horses, lions, elephants or pigs, you will need this expansion as someone will modify the cats and dogs to become these other items. True, you can download animals for your game without this expansion right now, but basically all you are getting is a graphic that moves back and forth around your screen and poops every few seconds. That is not like a real animal. With this expansion, your animals will want to eat, go to the bathroom, be trained, etc like real animals. They will have their own needs and motivations, much like your Sims do. Now if you hate all pets, and you plan to NEVER grow anything in a garden that you can then actually use with your Sims rather than just be a piece of scenery, you can pass this expansion up. But you will soon be kicking yourself when the online places that have Sims downloads start using the models from this newest expansion pack. Remember, without this expansion, anything that is modeled from the items in it, will not be available to you. In short, you need this expansion.

Were you getting bored with your Sims? Tired of going on dates? Vacation getaway just brings you down to the dumps cause they're so boring? Don't like your parties anymore? Well if so, The Sims Unleashed is FOR YOU!
This game adds SO much more to your game, I highly recommend it if you do not have it already. As you all know, this game adds the features of Pets to your sim world. However, this is just like 1/5 of the new features!
Tired of building on the same 10 lot neighborhood? The Sims Unleashed adds a lovely 41 lot expansion to your neighborhood! Yes, that means you can build around 50 families!!! (If you wanted to.) In addition, an Old Town is installed RIGHT into your neighborhood!! The cab to get there is free!!! You can bring your sims to the heart of the neighborhood and grab some expresso, bring your pets to the pet show, buy seeds to grow VEGETABLES, the list goes on and on!
Speaking of vegetables, Unleashed adds a totally cool aspect to the game. You can now farm and eat your produce!!! I recommend the tomatoes because they can re-harvest themselves. Annoying little gophers and bunnies come and try to eat your crop, so I tend to stay away from planting carrots. >.<
Now back to the pets. They are really adorable!!! There are two types, ones that are a part of your family (cat and dog) which have the most interactions. You can play, pet, and train them. (Even housebreaking for the dogs! and hunting for the cats!!) if you have a big garden I suggest having a cat to scare away the annoyancees. THe other types of animals you can have are things like turtles, goldfish, iguanas, and lovebirds. They are kind of boring as all you do is like watch them... and feed. not much else.
The LARGE neighborhood expansion, adorable pets, new farming tools, and especially all the new objects and furnishings makes this game TOTALLY worth it! Add it to your cart now!! =]

This expansion pack is great!! They have a seperate town from downtown called oldtown which you can get to by trolly. Not only do they have pets you can purchase at the local pet store, but treats for your pets, beds, collars and other acessories. Your own animals can have a puppy or a kitten as well! You name your pets, and they have their own unique zodiac personality. Pets have moods just like we do, and they have to be trained. You can win prizes with your pet at the local show!
Do you like gardening? well now you can grow your own vegtables! Thats after lots of loving care. You can store them for food, or sell them in town for some nice pocket change!
Only draw back i dont like about this game is that everyone in your household (including your pets) has to go into oldtown with you, even if someone is at work you have to wait till they get home in order to go. So it can make for some confusion, but you can still go to the regular "downtown" shops and dinning places ect. by yourself if you call a regular cab to take you.
Overall its a great game thats worth purchasing!

In "The Sims Unleashed", as you probably already know, you get to have pets. I was very eager to get this game, and when I did, I was a little disapointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high. But anyway, your pet is just like a sim, except you cannot control it. And once you get it the only way to get rid of it is to kill it. Other than the pet items, there are not many new items that your sim can buy for his/her house. Though there are some new stairs, wallpapers, etc. I got tired of this game only after a week or so of buying it, so it was not worth the $... I paid for it.

I own all the expansions except Hot Date, and this is the first in the series that is badly bugged and unstable. In Windows 98 it drops to desktop frequently, some Sims become completely unusable as certain crashes happen at the same spot for that Sim every time. You could lose your entire family if you have 98 and use this expansion.
Under XP it doesn't crash but there are still nagging problems:
- the 'superfast' clock speed, the one that pops up automatically and you cannot go to yourself, frequently stops in mid-day or mid-night for no reason.
- Water leaks under toilets and tubs and cannot be cleaned up by the Sims (though the maid gets it).
- The movement AI was never good, but now it's even worse than before.
- Neighborhood stray pets are a nuisance, especially skunks and el bandito (racoon), though I've had fewer burglars so they may merely replace burglars.
- Sims seem to need substantially more sleep than before. I had a steady schedule for my family, and now I have lost an hour or so due to new, higher sleep requirements.
If you have Windows 98 I'd pass on this expansion rather than risk losing my existing families.
If you have XP I wonder whether the game adds more than it subtracts in problems. The pets are okay, and the larger neighborhood is nice ...
Cool Game!

What a fun game to play. The pets have moods just like their Sim counter parts. The cat, that one of my Sims owned, was in such a "cat mood", that it ate the fish, and had an "accident" on the carpet. Buy this game now!

...P>I got the game yesterday, and installed it last night. I encountered a few glitches; for example, when I started up the game, all my Sims were lying on the floor (they got up as soon as I unpaused the action). One of my Sims was naked and remained so throughout the trip to the pet adoption center, although he put his clothes back on as soon as the family got home and nobody seemed offended by his exposure. I also had to rehire the gardener and the maid, though it took me longer to notice this one. Unleashed also runs noticeably more slowly than the Sims on my 800 MHz laptop, and I managed to crash it after about an hour of play. That was okay, though, because it had saved when the family got home, so I still had my cats, and I was able to do a few things right that I hadn't the first time (pssst.... kitties need a food dish, just like people need a refridgerator. Buy it in the Miscellaneous category of items).
This is the only Sims expansion pack I have, and so far I'm satisfied with it. There's more game here than I'll have time to play for quite a few weeks, I'm sure. The cats are a joy, playing like crazy until their energy bar is totally red and then zonking in their little cat beds. They're happy all the time and don't mind sharing a dish. I love 'em! I may have to kill off a Sim though, as I'm finding the management of 3 sims and 2 kitties to be a bit much.

I have all of the expansion packs except for House Party and this is the best one yet. I am giving this one a 5 even though it takes so long to load because that has nothing to do with how much fun it is. You only have to start it once everytime you play. It was easy to load if you follow the directions in the manual. The pets are really cute and you can download a few more off The Sims website. The new bigger neighborhood is great. Its so big that even though you can have more than one I never leave the one neighborhood. Before you buy this make sure that you have enough hard drive memory because it requires 1 gig to run. Although it only takes up like 18 mb. Also if you need to uninstall the program make sure you look at the manual it helps make sure that you don't lose you neighborhoods.
