This is a buggy game. Everyone knows that. But it is one of the most fun games I've ever played. Its kept my intrest for over 4 years now. Also its free; so download it off the net and come give it a try!
It has problems, but beats EverQuest "hands down"

The main problem I have with the game is the "lag," and that only happens when a massive number of people are playing it (but that *is* why it is called a Massively Multi-Player Online Role-Playing Game, right?). I like the character/races that you can play, and the creation process it easy.
Actual gameplay/user interface wasn't intuitive at first, but I quickly adapted, and now prefer it over EverQuest.
I do recommend either buying a guide for the game, or investigating the many online resources before creating a character that you hope to stick with. It is easy to handicap your character to the point where they are not effective and die quickly. I got one of my first characters to Level 37 and had to delete him and start over...not a happy experience.
I won't go into the many advantages that I feel ShadowBane has over EverQuest (EQ's Spellbook, and having to re-learn your spells every time you die is a HUGE waste of time), but I will tell you that SB came later and obviously the programmers played EQ, borrowed from it and (for the most part) improved upon it.
Very nice game, better than any other MMORPG out there.....

Well, I heard a lot about this game, and looked at a lot of reviews and screenies for it, and decided it was a good lookin game. So i decided to try it. This was a long time ago and im still playing. This game is still fresh and addicting!
You start off with the character creation screen, adding points and runes that affects your characters disciplines and skills for future times. You can pick a bunch of different races and 4 different classes which lead off into tons more when you hit lvl 10 and have to choose ur path. So you make your character and start off by noticing how everything on your interface is customizable! This is a great feature when you need to get stuff out of the way and move things around. The first few lvls are easy to gain by yourself but then you're going to need a group to level faster. once you leave the .:"Noob Isle":. (at lvl 20), you will need to join a guild. Finding guilds are rather easy. Just making your own guild is hard. If you want to do this, you need to probably need to be level cap, and you also need TONS of money. Once you are in a guild or have your own guild managed, you'll notice that you'll eventually have some enemy and allied guilds. You can go to war with other guilds and slaughter each other in the process. Losing is a very bad thing to happen. you lose your guild =( but most of the time that doesnt even happen. Thats about all i have to unleash. If you want to know more about this game, feel free to email me (spazztic2003@yahoo.com) . I might post more later.
Well ive given ya the basics of the game. Lvling, meeting new peeps, and going guild v guild. The political activity in this game is all around you. Watch for it. you'll see what i mean.
But to summarize this review, its a great game, and i think a lot of people should play it. Well peace
Shadowbane a really nice game but.......

...if you dont have many people online the game ceases to be fun. I remember when there where at least 1500+ people online on my server (chaos) at approximatly primetime. I am lucky I am on one of the most populated server(chaos). But 150 people online on a huge world at primetime is no fun and when 150+ people on a huge world is considered the most populated....thats a really bad sign.
The sad thing is shadowbane is a really nice game but wolfpack doesnt seem to be able to hold on to customers for some reason. My biggest beef with the game is the dismal server population at primetime and it seems to be dwindling as the weeks go by.
I had such high hopes for this game but as it stands...the game is becoming rather pathetic and I hate to say it but...I truly believe Shadowbane will go the way of Motor City Online(Motor City Online went offline permanently after a year because of lack of popularity).
Damn shame.
Excellent Game

The game is still in Beta conditions, but like some other games give it a little while and the game will soon be fully playable. It's mainly a group fighting based game so you always needs to be with other's. Without a good guild and money you won't be able to have a great city. The game is mainly of PKing and fighting which makes the game more fun and exciting because without that in the game it's just boring such as EQ.

After having experienced some nasty behavior from UBI before, I decided to download the free trial from their website before actually purchasing the full version of this game.
I'm glad I did.
The graphics are old, my computer and drivers are not, and even as a trial this game was a disapointment. Once the avatar was created, the progression was boring. I felt like I was playing the original PS version of Diablo all over again.
No thanks - I've moved beyond that stage.
The premise - the political manouvers that are possible with on-line play, and the interaction of the characters, is fantastic. The reality just isn't.

If you like MMORPG then this is the title to get.. There are some bugs mostly lag problems but theyre getting fixed... Now on to the game review..
Character creation.. pretty good, There is many variety of classes to choose from, specialty traits, etc. And there are proffessions to choose as well.. I have 4 assassins of the same "race" for example and not one of them is the same type of fighter.
Forget what the morons say about you having to pay for the extra 3 races.. you can get the extra races month by month by staying subscribed.. E.G first month.. nothing 2nd month reveals minotaur, 3rd month subscribed reveals avacoix, 4th month reveals centuar (or something like that) so you dont have to pay for a year to get these races.
The game is do as you want.. Something that a mmorpg has to have to be successful, sorry we cant womp on the same creature
for hours to level, there must be a point. and this game has one. err many..
This game can be ruthless and you can be ruthless but most dont like to be that lame pk'r and thief going around stealing everybody's stuff.. but you learn as you go if your a solo player where to hunt and how to stay alive...
When you first start out you think that this game is a must group game.. as well you should.. noone likes loners.. but I am learning how very easy now it is to solo.. with of course the right character and of course he is not gimped.
The real fun comes in guild vs guild play and a whole new level of fun begins.. spend millions and millions of gold (and gold aint that easy to come by) to build a city and stuff and then defend it and rage war against other cities, built trust with allies and try and control the lands resources.
If you like MMORPG and have some patient to create the characters and make new ones cuz you will make a few mistakes.. then all i can say GET THIS GAME NOW!
I played em all.. I hate most of em.. AC2? hahahaha game is a joke compared to this. I cant beleive the bad reviews.. this game truly rocks!

Ive noticed in reading the reviews that this game rates either 5 stars or 1. The truth of the matter is that this game is very similar to every other mmpog and I find its neither really great nor very disappointing. The game offers some good stuff, like fast lvl progression with disciplines to offer for later game enjoyment (bounty hunting for instance) and some bad stuff such as serious lag issues. But once again you have an mmpog where all you can do is combat, pretty much the same as any mmpog out there. Currently I find the game enjoyable, a way to be able to pass time with my friends without them being over my house eating up all my grub. Will I stay once star wars galaxies or world of warcraft comes out? probably not. But I will get a couple of months enjoyment out of the game and thats all I really ask for my money.
A much improved game

I really liked this game and I'm not exactly a video game enthusiast! I think it's really important to explore new toys and this is a very good game.
Not exactly everquest...

I have been playing Shadowbane as a beta tester for the last few months. The game play and character progression are good but the lag time is frustrating. Supposedly they will be switching to a better server when the game is actually released but we'll see.
