Buyer Beware!! Prepare for heartache!

Like many other rollercoaster tycoon fanatics, I was looking forward to the new version of this game. Unfortunately, my problems started as soon as I purchased the game. Upon attempting to install the game, Atari/Frontier provided an invalid cd-key. I spent over an hour typing and re-typing the cd-key that came with the game, and it actually did not work. I thought I was going crazy or blind! Unbelievable quality control--Thanks Atari. Fortunately, the good people at Target allowed me to exchange the game.

I currently have the game installed and barely working. Playing the game is very frustrating because it is slow (add a couple of coasters, food stands, a few hundred people) and full of bugs. Let me say that again. The game is full of bugs and crashes alot!

Do not believe the system recommendations on the box. You need to upgrade to the lastest, fastest possible machine on the market to sort of play the game. Did I mention that the game is full of bugs?

It Takes Some Getting Used To

I recieved this as a Christmas present and I was more than anxious to get this thing started. Sadly, the graphics were too advanced for my "out of date" laptop. I could play the game but if it's too busy, (ie: alot of rides, people..etc) the game would dramatically slow down making it almost impossible to play. In a few months I have plans on buying a gaming computer so it can handle games like Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Also, it does take awhile to get used to and it's not as "user-friendly"(meaning easy to catch on) as the first two Rollercoaster Tycoons. This is why I gave it only 4 stars.

The graphics are great and it's a big refresher to play such a different game and yet at the same time, play one of my favorite games such as Rollercoaster Tycoon. All in all, I would get the game. I love riding the rides feature making it all the more exciting. One part I loved was I would build a train ride and along the side of the train tracks, I would add pretty flowers and trees. When I set it in "ride mode" I could see the scenery along the tracks and I thought it was beautiful! It felt like a quiet and scenic ride through the country. :) Whether you like quiet relaxing rides or nail-biting rollercoasters, it's a *GREAT* feature and I'm so happy they've added this to the Rollercoaster Tycoon family.

It's all up to you guys though. Be your own critc and judge for yourself. Everyone is different so you may think differently to what I've said. If you're still not sure, start browsing websites that specialize in PC Games and see what the critics say about RC 3.

Happy Playing! :)

I suppose the graphics are better, the game is more complicated, and it certainly takes up more room on the hard drive, but this game does not hold a candle to RCT 2, a far more playable, intuitive, and enjoyable game.

Got my copy today, and I'm SOOOO disappointed!

I had played RCT and RCT2 and was hooked on them! RCT became my all time favorite game to play. I couldn't WAIT to get my hands on RCT3 after reading all of the reviews about the game! I splurged and bought it yesterday at Amazon, and paid over $15 to ahve it shipped to me NEXT DAY! I awaited the arrival of this game ALL day, and finally, at almost 8 PM TONIGHT, here comes UPS.........FINALLY!! Yipeeee~ Or so I thought....

I was first disapointed by how childish the graphics looked. The whole interface is different. It's tacky. It's for children, not dedicated RCT players! Sure, you CAN ride the rides, but believe me, it's not what you think it is going to be, and it's cheesey!

I really liked the old graphics from the original game better! I thought they were MORE detailed than this new game.

Because the whole interface is different, and so clunky, this game just doesn't feel like the others; it doesn't have me hooked at all~ I can't get over how I wasted over $50 for this, and that it is such a let down in the end.

Perhaps I should have downloaded the demo?? But I had faith, CONFIDENCE that this game would be another winner! Well, in my opinion, this game took several steps backwards. I don't feel like it improved itself, but it feels more comparable to SimTheme Park. Yep, there ya go.

I think I'll sell my copy on ebay, try to make up some of that money I spent, and go back to RCT and RCT2. They were SO much better!

A Great New 'Tycoon' Game

When I first saw this game at the store, I was dying to buy it! I saved up all my allowance, and after a few weeks, I went to the store, and picked it up.

When I brought it home, I popped it into the computer, the Auto-Play began, I went to install the game, and...the game didn't work because our computer didn't meet the System Requirements. Actually, the computer we had did meet the System Requirements, but us having Windows ME caused it not to work. We tried taking it back to the store, but they wouldn't allow us to return in. The only thing we could do is to exchange it for a new copy.

Well, after a few months, we ordered a brand new Dell computer. I was finally able to play my Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 game.

The game was lots of fun! The new graphics are awesome, and the CoasterCam is so cool! The CoasterCam allows you to watch the view of the people on the Roller coaster's as they ride them.

Everything is great about RollerCoaster Tycoon 3! There are a few minor flaws, but the new features surpass the bad things!

If I wouldn't have had so much trouble getting this game to work, I would have definitaly given this game 5 Stars.

If you are interested in buying this game, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS. You can find them on the Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Website.

Game may require more than suggests

Well, I recieved this game for Christmas, and I was so excited to get it in and play. However, I was quickly dissapointed with the fact that my computer graphics card could not support the game, and therefore it wouldn't run. So after a week of researching gaming cards, I finally purchased one I think will play the game pretty well, but it ended up costing 250 dollars, and hopefully I'll get it next week.
Now, if you end up buying this game, basically (and I hate to say this), but disregard some of the "system requirements", because with those system requirements, the game is going to run pretty lousy. Even with the recommened requirements it still will run what I consider miserably.
Now, just for average to good gameplay quality, I would recommend that you have atleast 1.8 GHz Processor Speed, between 512 to 784 MB of RAM, and a really good graphics card. I would recommend, as would others, getting a 128 MB ATI RADEON 9200 or better graphics card. 128 MB RADEON 9200 graphics card will cost you around 100 dollars.
Now, keep in mind, the reqiurements I have just given are probably good gameplay quality, however, in RCT3, the bigger your parks become that you build, the more the game is going to require. So a really big park being built in sandbox mode with the requirements I have just given is probably going to run somewhat laggy.
Now I am no expert, by any means. I have just been around in the official RCT3 Forums, as well as dealing with my own personal experience, and that is why I feel the system requirements I have given are probably somewhat accurate for good gameplay for RCT3.
You have to make the choice if buying this game is worth also buying a gaphics card or more memory of ram. Maybe, you don't need to because you already have enough memory and a good graphics card. But if you're like me, with a mere integrated graphics card and a 256 MB of RAM, you might decide that buying all these other upgrades, that could potentially cost around 200 dollars, isn't worth playing the game. Others, like me, may decide it is worth it.
I am not complaining, trying to persuade, or whining to anybody, I am just simply trying to inform consumers that RCT3 will require more than the box suggests. Maybe this will prevent you from buying the game, or maybe it will prompt you to get more.
Either way, I hope everything works out.

The 3D graphics add nothing to this game. It feels slugish and clunky and never responsive. The terraforming tools are fantastic but not being able to build tunnels is just stupid. Yes you can dig a trench, build your ride and cover it with roof tiles but it doesnt offer the fleibility found in RCT 1 and 2. Only 4 themes is very limiting and being 3D, adding your own game objects will be a lot more difficult than the sprite creation of the older games. Elevated paths are also a real pain to create. It also crashes a lot too. This game is a barrier that stops the gamer from realising their theme park imagination. You are better off buying RCT 2 and its 2 add on packs than this game. I cant beleive that there is a RCT 3 add on pack in the pipeline when so many improvements still need to be made to the core game. This game in one word: Frustrating.

you need to have a super computer....what a waste of $40

Ok, so i bought this game because im completely obsessed with the series, only to find out that it wouldnt play on my computer. i just bought a brand new computer with 512 ram and everything else quite equipped, only to find that this 40$ game wont even run on my computer. It gives me the "windows blue screen of death" once im click on the first thing to play in the game- and i checked their website---- SO MANY PEOPLE have had tech problems with this game. ITS TERRIBLE!(even with the updates and everything) they suggest you upgrade your video card and this and that.--- and theres no way i would pay to upgrade my computer when every other game ive bought plays fine!
ALSO- i tried running it on my virtual PC for my mac and it wouldnt even load the game up!
i could see this game being way fun it if actually ran on a normal persons computer----its like when you make a roller coaster that has very extreme fun and sickness level- its pointless! SO DONT BUY IT! i lost 40$ and so have a lot of people :(

im just so disappointed in this game! the sims 2 came out with way better graphics and a "3-D version" and that plays great on my computer! i just wish they had done the same with this game

Condiment-Puke Tycoon

Cut to the chase, the fun wears off pretty quick. You want to build a park, but all you get to do is build bathrooms. You eventually spend 80-90% of your playing time dealing with pain in the butt janitors and mechanics who never do thier work, if you assign them an area they either become immediatly bored and quit or wander off. They should rename this Puke-Tycoon, NOBODY throws up as much as these peeps. Yes you can watch from any angle, cool for a while, but it just means now you can watch your janitors quit from any angle, peeps not go on rides from any angle, ride break down from any angle. Its a pain in the neck from any angle! YAY! A quick solution would be to allow the player to decide how much micro-managing he/she wants. I buy these games to build parks not pick how much ketchup to put on the hot-dogs. The tedious nature of these tasks really takes away from the excellent graphics, cool atmosphere, and great music, although volume levels are hard to regulate, overlap(two songs at the same time) is terribly annoying. The themes and rides are really cool but you never get to enjoy them. You become to busy being the Condiment-Puke-Tycoon.

Great Game, dont buy it if you dont have a good pc!!

This is a fun game but if you have an older pc or you just have a [...] graphics card then get a new pc before you buy this game. I have a new pc that had bad graphics and the game still played but really looked bad and you couldn't see the water at all. After I got a new ATI card the game played great.

Great Game!!!If you have the Graphics
