Atari website gives misinformation on computer compatibility

I bought this game for my son for Christmas and realized that I would need to check if our computer met the requirements. I went to the Atari website and found what I thought was a helpful feature. Under the FAQ's there's a link you can click on to see if your computer is compatible. It's Windows Game Advisor and it analyzes your computer. I took the time to have this analysis done and got the following reply: "System Scan Results Congratulations! Your computer is sufficient to play RollerCoaster Tycoon® 3!" It also showed a graphic that showed the minimum requirements and my computer abilities far surpassing these minimum requirements.
Based on that information, I felt confident in opening the software and installing it. However, when I did so I received the following message upon trying to start the game:
"Your graphics hardware or drivers do not meet the minimum requirements to run RCT3. This error has also been sent to Debug.log" If I attempt to continue I get an error message to send a report to Microsoft and the program closes.
When I contacted Atari regarding the misinformation I received on THEIR site and requesting a refund since opened software is not returnable at stores, they sent me a brief message saying to return it to the store and seek a refund if the store policy permits. VERY bad customer service in my opinion. If you provide the wrong information, you should assume the responsibility of making the situation right.
Unless you have the EXACT requirements listed on the box, DO NOT buy this game and DO NOT rely on the information you receive on Atari's web site!!!!!
HUGE disappointment

I hate this game. I am 22 years old. I asked for this game for Christmas because I had the first 2 RCT's and I LOVED THEM. This one SUCKS. If I had played it before I asked for it, I would've NEVER asked for it. It's so much different than the other 2. Its not user friendly. It takes FOREVER to load ( I have a new comp so that isn't the prob ) and it slows your computer down if you play it for too long. The objectives suck compared to the other 2 RCT's. I think the major problem was that the strayed too much from what made it so much fun in the first place: ORIGINALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you haven't played the 1st 2 you MIGHT like this one, if you have, then don't waste your money!

This is a good game except for these things:
1. This game takes alot of room on your computer.
2. This game is very complicated.
3. This game has stuff that little ones shouldn't see.
But if you are a good computer man, have alot of room on your computer and are a little bit older this is a good game for you!

If you like the first 2 Rollercoaster games you will be very impressed with this one. The graphics are great and the the interaction with the visitors is much more personal. Great game for all ages.

It has awesome new graphics, you can view your park at any angle, ride the rides, and do so much more than you couldn't do in RCT2 and RCT.
But it demands a lot of requirements, which older computers may not have. And even though it works on one of our computers, often it will go slow, ecspecialy in Sandbox mode.
They did a great job making the game and all, but I think that they should improve the performance a little, is all.
RCT 2 is better

I have all of the RCT games, the board game, all expansions, and a few other Tycoon games. I was completely disappointed with this game, however, because it was not only broken the first day I got it, but it was also very confusing. The 3D graphics had a negative effect on the game, in my opinion, because it made it a bit more slow-moving. My Peep Editor doesn't work, so I cannot create my own family. It's pretty confusing how to make firework shows and everything, even when I read the whole instruction booklet.
I don't recommend this game, as it isn't that great. Instead, buy RCT 2 or even 1 at a discounted price, since these are the older games.
What's the fuss?

RCT3 is a great improvement from the older version. I have a high-power machine and I have never experienced any of the problems outlined by the other reviewers. I can understand the reaction, but really, if you have a strong enough computer, it runs extremely well. People seem to complain about the bad quality, and it is not overly surprising, but if you have a slower computer that's the way the game will run. The 3D graphics are a huge improvement from RCT2, and the features are very advanced (fireworks displays, coaster cam, things like that). Also, reviewers have said the money interface can be tough for younger kids. Sandbox mode completely eliminates the money aspects of the game without taking away the gameplay itself. My brother (who is eight years old) can build just as good a coaster as anyone I know. Anyway, if you have a powerful machine, the game will run swiftly and with few (if any) bugs. So if you are thinking about this game, I strongly recommend that you have a high-powered enough computer that you will not be disappointed with the performance. Overall, it is one of the best games I have ever played.
