If I could give this game over 5 stars, I definitely would. This is an excellent game!!! I got it for Christmas, and since then, I've played it every chance I get. All my 18 other games have been gathering dust since 12/25/05. I would reccomend this game to all ages. You can get sheep, cows, and chickens. You can also get a horse and a dog. You also pick a girl to become your girlfriend,and,if you try hard, to eventually become your wife. There's a whole lot more to this game than raising crops, as you'll find out if you buy the game. I guess I'm not doing a very thourough job of describing this game, am I? Well, I absolutely LOVE this game, so buy it now! I think that pretty much everyone would like this game!

This game is way awesome!!! I did give it an overall rating of 4 stars for two reasons:

1. There are ALOT of spelling and grammer errors, along with other glitches, so it is sometimes hard to understand what people are saying to you.
EX:"How are you dong?"
EX:"Have you ready Basil books?"
EX: Flower instead of flour.
Whoever translated this game into English did not put much effort into the spelling and grammer.

2. You are not able to choose whether you want want to be a boy or girl farmer like you can in some of the other HM games- you have to be a guy. (I don't really like this since I'm a girl, so I am excited for the girls' version of this game- Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town- to come out)

Other than that, this is a dang good game! When I first got my Gameboy Advance SP and heard of the Harvest Moon games, I thought, A FARMING GAME??? You have GOT to be kidding me! Why the heck would I want to play some boring thing like that? Well, about a year or so later a friend of mine introduced me to her HM game which was called Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. And guess what? I LOVED it! I just HAD to get one of those Harvest Moon games for my gameboy. When I got this one, it was a little confusing at first because it was completely different from the one my friend had me play. But I gradually got used to it. The story line of this game is basically the same as the rest of them:
Some old man you knew in your childhood who had owned that farm you loved dies, leaving the resposibility of restoring the farm to you.
In this game you get to do the following:
-Raise your own crops and livestock
-Befriend the towns people
-Fall in love, get married, and have a son
-Befriend Harvest Sprites so they can help you on your farm
-Cook yummy recipies to give to others
and much more!
I can't get enough of this game! I would DEFINITLY recommend at least trying out this game before deciding not to buy it!

hello, i am a gamer. i play alot of different games and my preferance is usually RPG games. my favorite series is final fantasy but my 2nd favorite is harvest moon. Since i got the PSX verision i instantly fell in love with this genre. some people are like "a farming game?" with blank faces...but this game is awesome. im already in winter and this game is great. its similar to the PSX version with LOADS of extras. instead of 5 girls to marry theres 6 but i wont spoil it. the gameplay is non-linear with every hour like 5 or so seconds but you can get alot done in a day. ive been playing since i got the game and its addicting...too bad they dont allow GBA in school because i would be playing it in school all day...well i can say that MY CHICKEN IS SUMO WRESTLING CHAMPION!!! good game i give it a 9.9 out of 10 because winter is pretty boring. but great game worth the money and the link ability to gc will be great and ill review harvest moon AWL after i get mine. later

the game harvest moon is 1 of the most asome games I have ever played.
dating/maridged:in dating you give the girl you like what she likes.
Anne:give her choclates, flowers, gems from the winter mine, home cooked food, and don't give her jewerly.
Karen:give her things from your farm and or the woods, and some wine. she dosn't like chocolates and if you going to mary her go after her fast or Won will mary her.
mary:show her our dog if you want to mary her [personaly I don't like her] also act fast because wants to mary her.
popuri:give her anything except stuff from the woods. agian if you want to mary her do it fast kai dos to.

ps: you need a big bed to mary your girlfriend.

Ok, I just got this game yesterday (Christmas Day) and I already LOVE it!!
This is my first Harvest Moon game ever, but I think I love the series already! I can't wait till I get Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life...

The story is simple: After a close friend of you dies, you take over his farm! It seems sort of...dull at first, but trust me, it isn't! From raising chickens to finding the girl who's just right for you, this game will keep you busy for a long time!

There are only two things in this game that could've been better:
1. You can only be a boy. Being a girl myself, I would've prefered if you could've played as either a boy or girl. Sure, they're coming out with a girl's version...but how long will that take?!

2. The days in this game are waaaay too short! 10 minutes pass in like...10 seconds! So it's hard to do a lot of stuff in one day...
Your character starts his day at 6:00. By the time I pick up the honey, feed my chickens and pick up their eggs, it's like 8:00.
...it isn't like this in all the other Harvest Moon games, is it?! O.O

Anyway, overall it's a great game. You won't want to put it down!

I am only on the 2nd year of this game. It is addicting like other writers have said. It does take awhile I find to water all the crops you plant. Plus digging in the mines wears the character out and you have to stop and go into the hottub.
You have to be careful not to push the wrong button and hit the chicken with the hammer! This game is worth the money.

Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town

HM Friends of Mineral Town is very, very good. The only dissapointment is that you are only able to play as a male character. (On HM2 GBC you can play as a male or female character) However, overalll the game was very good, and it was a welcome new edition to my favourite series of games. Anyway, the most important points of the game are to keep your farm in order, to find yourself a wife and to basically be successful. You will meet lots of new people along your way, nice and... not so nice. But most people are okay. (The people I just don't like are Karen and Won.) Although the game is quite easy, it's a very long lasting one and it never gets boring. (Okay, sometimes it gets boring...) In the UK we didn't get a very good manual, but it's probably better in the US. If it's the first HM game you've played it might take a little while for you to figure things out. (The first HM game I played, it took me forever to find where the tools were! - For the record, the tools in this game are in that little box below the bed in your house. Have fun and keep HMing!

I've always been interested in video games, and have a pretty nice collection for my GBA. However, I did not know the meaning of addiction until I bought this game. I bought it a month ago, and I play for at least an hour everyday. A farming sim sounds like the dumbest idea for a game ever, but you will soon become immersed in wooing your favorite girl and seeing if you can get an extra corn harvest in before fall begins. There is, however, a few things I would change:
1.) A larger variety of music
2.) Having the day a little slower paced
3.) Each character could have a few more lines
All that notwithstanding, this is one of the best game values out there, with a huge amount of replayability. Looking forward to the female version!

This is an amazing game! Great Graffics, and amazing. It starts off easy, plant some crops, raise some animals. But when you get more animals and crops, you'll see that there aren't really anough minutes in the day. Between sicnesses and getting married, you'll sure get addicted to this game.

Warning: May cause lack of sleep, and work ethic.

over the last 1 1/2 years I played this game over and over again!
I'm not a person who usually plays games a second time but this one is GREAT - I'm so spoiled, that I get borred very quickly, especially with VideoGames, but this game is HIGHLY addictive!

yes, sometimes the harvesting and watering and animal feeding can get repetitive, but still, I LOVE IT
I never regretted buying this game!

I would call it a "family game" - no violence
maybe the controls are a bit difficult for very young children and unexperienced adults, but if you play it a lot (trust me, U WILL !!!!) than you really get used to it !

If you more into jump-and-run, shooting or car raceing games, than MAYBE this one is not for you, but otherwise I HIGHLY recommend it!!!
