I love racing games but am new to the Mario series as well as to Nintendo. I bought this game after reading all the great reviews of it and have not been disappointed. It is a great game to play by yourself, race against ghost friends as well as playing multi-player versions.
I love the quirky tracks and repeat playability of this game. I expect to play this for many months to come.
Fun game offline, Great game online!

Nintendo has done a great job with the newest version of Mario Kart. The play control is amazing, and the graphics are quick. What makes this game stand well-apart from the previous versions is the ability to play online. You can connect with 11 other random players from around the world, or you can easily connect with your friends. It's easy and intuitive to meet up and race your online friends. Another great aspect of the game is the online tournaments and time trials. Your high scores are saved so that other racers can compete against your "ghost" runs. You will get a visual snap shot of how your racing skills compare to your friends'.
This is a very fun and addictive game that will give you hours of fun.
More of the Same. A Good thing!

If you've come to love the Mario Kart series, this game will not disappoint. Incorporating the Wii wheel adds a wrinkle that hasn't been been seen before giving the game some added appeal.
Makes a great gift and is tons of fun!!

My son loves this! It's very responsive and still has all the characters that makes Mario, Mario. All of our old friends are back - the Princess, Luigi, Wario and even a couple new characters from Super Mario Galaxy. It's a little pricey, but the graphics are worth it.

Alright, First the good things. Wide Assortment of Cars. If you enjoyed the large sum of cars from Mario Kart DS, you'll find some satisfaction in this one (no way you can top that many cars). A lot of characters, though unlocking them all seems next to impossible (I'll get to that later). I will say playing as Miis is a fun addition, and hitting a avatar of my brother with a red/blue shell is priceless. And Online being at least 2 times better than the DS incarnation and 100 times better then the constant lag of Smash Brawl. I'd have to say Online is where the game really comes into focus and shines. As the second major WiFi game for Wii, it's clear that they really know how to make it work.
The Bikes are a kind of yeah, it's fun, but I would've liked something else kind of thing. They don't really handle differently aside from the stats, and they're needed later on cause they get an unfair boost compared to karts. So if you see people online using bikes and winning, you'll know why.
Now the Bad. If you thought other mario kart games were bad in terms of insane items and frustrating computer AI stealing your hard earned win at the last second... well Nintendo seems to have said, let's make it worse. Not to mention that there is no longer the ability to play 2 player co-op racing in Grand Prix. Yes, Nintendo decided to do away with one of the FUN aspects of playing against a cheap stupid computer. You can however play Team Race and Team Battle... Both of which are somewhat stupid. You race with 2 teams of 8 blasting away at each other. While the race is less dumb, the Battle Mode, 3 balloons over your head classic mario kart gameplay, is now just pointless. You still have 3 balloons but now after you lose 3... you just come back. And it's the team with the most points that win... not a last man standing... there is no last man standing option.
Now to the Wii Wheel. Nice plastic shell, however the control motion you are required to make IS COMPLETELY SCREWED UP. I mean, what were they thinking? I literally have to move the wheel so much to make a tight turn that I nearly had the wheel fly off and hit someone (god bless the strap).
And unlocking things becomes increasingly infuriating as EVERYTIME you think you've almost gotten a star grade (that's right, to unlock every character get used to getting stars) you're cheated out of it by the combo of POW BLOCK/RED SHELL TO THE FACE//BLUE SHELL/THEN BUMPED OFF THE ROAD that has happened to me, at least 3 times. And who does the computer grading system blame for this? You. So my Star Grade falls to a B, because OBVIOUSLY, there was something I could've done to avoid all that... So to anyone whose unlocked dry bowser? I applaud you, you're the luckiest person in the world. Because that in the end is what it boils down to, luck. This game should be called Mario Kart Gambling. Because you roll the dice everytime you get in that kart and race. There's just about as much skill as pulling that lever on a slot machine.
An overrated, overblown game

I loved Mario Kart for the super Nintendo. I also loved it for the Nintendo 64. This Mario Kart however has some major problems-The tracks for one thing are fairly uninteresting and boring. Also, on the harder settings, the game doesn't get too much harder, but it sure cheats more. This doesn't add real challenge but certainly makes me want to fling my remote at the TV.
This is simply not the Mario Kart of old.
