Dude, just buy it.

Well, well, well. What have we here? Could it be? A game that takes Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age, and beats the flying crap out of them both? COMBINED?! Yes. Yes it is. I must say that the people at Square Enix have really outdone themselves. I have played many RPGs in my day, and this one takes the cake. Here are a few reasons why:

1. Over 300 missions to complete(never a dull mission).
2. There are 5 races, an average of about 6 jobs for each race, and about 12 abilities for each job of each race.
3. Imaginative storyline(no matter what anyone else says).
4. Around 30 hours to beat the game(not including the other 100+ missions still left).
5. The best fighting system I`ve seen in a long time, consisting of moving, attacking, and sneeking up behind your opponent for the kill.

Bottom line... buy it. I've beaten it three times, played it for over 300 hours(I have a GBASP), and even got the strategy guide just to find out every little thing about it. Buy the way I'm not a Golden Sun hater. It's sweet too. Just not as much.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I give this game a 5. Good job, Square Enix, and keep up the good work.

Brilliant Gaming Experience

First off its worth noting that i very rarely feel compelled to write a review of anything unless i feel that the game was that good, so me just writing a review speaks volumes on teh quality of this game. FFTA is a game that is so spectacular because once you get in it its very easy to sit down and play for hours without realizing the time, or very easy to sit down play one battle and get your fix (approx 15 min). I am an avid RPG fan but suffer from a poor attention span when it comes to games, mainly because of my busy school schedule but FFTA is a game that you budget your time for. everyone knows the vice of rpg's, teh random battles...and to an extent these exist in FFTA but they are never the same and frankly on the rare occassion the other "clans" do pop up on the screen its easy to avoid them if you so choose. However fighting in a battle is fun because no two will ever be the same, i actually search out random battles in this game they are that ingenious. i recommend this game to anyone who enjoys more strategic gaming and has a lot of time on there hands because this game can eat time by the hours, its also wonderful for long trips, be warned though do not buy this game if you are looking for a wonderful story line, and get through the first couple hours of gaming before making a decision because it tends to drag early, but once you get past these minor faults you'll have in your hands one of the most fun games i've ever played, in fact i enjoyed it so much i've just bought the original on the psx. do yourself a huge favor and buy this game.

Among the best games I've played on ANY platform

I picked up a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance because, while I honestly cannot stand RPGs, I confess the "turn-based war strategy" genre is my favorite niche. I haven't played a really good one ever since Sierra's "Missionforce: Cyberstorm." So, while I'm not used to fantasy-strategy, and though I haven't played the Playstation version, I thought I'd give FFTA a chance.

It took me a long time to get fully into FFTA, and I'm only (ONLY?) ten hours into the game, but this has quickly become my favorite game for the Game Boy Advance. In spite of their clunkiness, the menus are intuitive and navigable; the character art is outstanding; the game is absolutely adorable (maybe a little TOO adorable...). The missions can become tedious, but when my nerves begin to wear, I simply set the GBA aside, and I usually find that my interest is re-whetted by the next day.

This game is so dense and immersive, and there is so much to keep track of. Characters are able to learn the skills that come with wielding a particular weapon, but they frequently need to be of a certain "race" (so what do I need to do to make Safra into a ninja, I often ask myself), certain laws of battle require you to rethink the way you fight and which of your characters you're going to send into a fray, and when one of your characters is away on a "mission," you're also going to need to think about whether you have someone who can pick up that missing character's slack.

Playing this game gives me such a great sense of satisfaction. It's incredible. Long, sure, and sometimes tedious, but in the end, an outstanding game.

A fantastic not-quite-port.

My rating for this game is assuming that you enjoyed (or at the very least did not want to gouge your eyes out while) playing the original Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSOne. If you did not, then you will in all likelihood loathe this game.

However, if you're like me and enjoyed the stuffing out of the original, this is a very nice follow-up to it. It isn't exactly a port, which disappointed me at first. The battle system is almost exactly the same, but I was disconcerted by the fact that only certain species could use certain classes, not to mention the fact that I could no longer spend job points to buy skills (instead you have to have a weapon which teaches you the skill equipped until you've collected enough ability points to earn it).

And then there is the Judge System. Everyone I'd talked to who played this game before me warned me that it was probably going to be enough to chase me off as it had them. At first, it was very off-putting, just like the other changes that had been made; however, like the rest, as I played the game, I soon came to like (maybe even love in a few cases) the judges. It added an extra spice to the game play and even saved my bacon in one boss fight (I had gotten my rear handed to me because this boss constantly cast charm, so I waited for a day where charm was illegal and the boss no longer used it).

The story at times seems very simple and maybe a little "kiddified," but I really have no problem with that. It didn't stop me from enjoying Kingdom Hearts, and it doesn't stop me from enjoying this game, either.

Anyway, I highly reccomend this to basically any fan of FFT. :)

Beautiful...Square Enix has made yet another Masterpiece...

At first, the tactics of battle seem boring.I've always hated battle systems in games that force you to get hit. When I heard about this game over the phone from a friend,I was really excited. Then,I felt dissapointed when I saw that you were not really able to move in battle, only chose where to move, and even get forced to get hit if you were put in a bad position. But i played on,this little game was really quite fun.The graphics are absolutly stunning, they rival those of Sword of Mana(my favorite title,I highly recommend it.),though they do not surpass them. The characters say realistic things,as well as have realistic problems in their normal life(ex. One child is stuck in a wheelchair, another is picked on and bullied etc.).Then,one day,the children all read,or start to,a magic book. This warps them into a new realm with creatures such as moogles. You get basic battle expierence with the snowball fight at the beginning of the game, and are almost immediately brought back into it when the book is opened. The graphics during the transformation are excellent, although I started to wonder when it would be over.I regret to say that,at the moment,I do not own this game,I have been playing my friend's copy.I will recomend this game to all gamers, and especially those who already love Square Enix.

A lot of people said it would never happen. Many more believed them. But Suqare and Nintendo have gottenb back together and their children are both beautiful and smart. I can't wait for FF: Chrystal Chronicles, and FF20 (lol). This is a great RPG for any gamer on the go. I've put 50+ hours, and I'm no where near done, and that's not even including the link options. With 300 missions, endless map possibilities, and characters that become what You want them to be, this game will last forever.

SQUARE ENIX , YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN !!!

This game is not a great game , its more like the best game ever!! It has all the elements of a perfect strategy game. You can build a party of tons of characters, use a variety of spells and skills, change classes, and go on over 300 missions .You can even create the world map as you go !! This is the type of game that you dont ever want to stop playing as long as theres more to play.If youve ever played a Final Fantasy game , you will love this game. Yes its that great, and no matter what other people may say I recommend this game to anyone who has ever picked up a gameboy. In other words, stop reading this review and GO GET THIS GAME NOW !!!

...and probably the best. It's amazing how good this game is. Maybe it was just because I had shallow expectations in the first place (the story just didn't sound very appeling when i read about it in egm) and no matter what this game wasn't letting me down, but this game just plays out better than the original did.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the original tactics, quite a bit actually. It just seems though that this game takes out the worst parts of final fantasy tactics for playstation and puts in more elements that are innovative and make the fighting all the more fun. And since fighting is basically the only thing you do in either of the two games it's great to focus more on the battle and less on a complicated story line.
It kind of comes down to two things. If you complained about the mass of battles on the original tactics and just wanted to follow the the story, this game isn't for you. Costumizing your clan of fighters and sending them out to battle is where all the fun is at in this game. If you enjoyed the tactics for psx it's certain that you'll fall in love with tactics advance as well.

Just don't buy this expecting to play a game exactly like the original. Becuase it's not.. it's something even better

My Favourite FF To Play

Things I like:

1.unlike the usual Final Fantasy games, my walking around the landscape isn't interrupted 99 times by enemy monsters. You know how frustrating it is to walk two steps forward and have to fight several monsters each time?!

2.the BEST graphics the GBA has to offer. The backgrounds are incredibly detailed and colourful.

3.the amount of depth in "creating" your character. This is one of the very few games where I actually feel as though I am in control of their growth and in charge of what they learn.

4.it is VERY addicting. I can spend hours playing this game without being bored.

5.I can't get lost in the world of Ivalice. I can see where I'm going.

6.the fact that one of the main characters are deeper than let on:Mewt is undergoing pyschological issues, which causes him to turn to escapism, instead of dealing with his problems; Ritz is denying her true self from surfacing and is miserable because of it; Marche is a loner-type who everyone turns against because he is fighting for the right thing. (Lessons for the children about being yourself.)

Things I don't like:

Um..nothing.

Things that could be better:

1.the storyline. I would prefer if the kids were sucked into the magical world by magic and not realise that they are in a video game.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance- I'm all for it and addicted!

Every day I wake up thinking of my new Final Fantasy Tactics Advance game. The graphics are as good as a playstation's, only this game is handheld! I love strategy games, and that's exactly what this game is. It's a great RPG involving a whole real life world of creatures, spells, reinforcing the laws of the land, and a touch of chess like play. This game is my very favorite game right now, and it could be for you too. Now I don't like RPG's, but this is a 100% complete acception! So don't skip over this game once you see the word RPG, BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT! IT IS DEFINITELY A GREAT GAME!!!!!!
