First of all there are not many games i would buy. This is one im considering going pick up. great co-op play.. i have membership with gamefly cause after beating games i don't play em anymore. i only own 1 game rite now, Halo 3 (Great Multiplayer & ONline Play). let me say COD sucks, i didn't like that game. i totally love tom clancy games rainbow six and my favorite series Ghost Recon. This Vegas 2 game is better than first game, settings save for your weapons. ya i live in vegas, only the convention center was similar to actual thing. i rite away put on realistic setting, its tough. I consider myself pretty good at games, but not great. the guy who said he beat this game in 8 hours, ya what on easy setting. the solo mission rite before airport is fricking tough. i rent games often and this is one of the better ones i played in a while, its worth buying it if you like tom clancys first person shooters. the online is the board mission with online players, which it should of been maps verus 8 other online players would of been more fun.

More like Ghost Recon, but still fun!

Excellent squad shooter! Why did the US Gov't only send three men to fight off an entire army of terrorists that have invaded a major American city? Fun? Yes! Plausible? No. Customizeable Character? Heck-Yea!

All said, I miss the original-style Rainbow Six 6 format of Clancy's initial vision of anti-terrorism/hostage rescue military operations. The graphics are great and the game play is fun, so I'm not really complaining. I just wish the folks running the R6 development would pick-up Tom Clancy's R6 excellent novel and get back to the true roots (at least as I saw it). One level being a significant plausible event of terrorism/criminal activity calling for highly skilled SWAT-style intervention with all the tangos dead on the floor.

I personaly would prefer that R6 series does not become a Call of Duty clone. Running street battles and major combat contentions are great video game material and extremly fun, but its not what R6 was supposed to primarily deal with. R6V2 is a great squad shooter and worth renting or buying.

Great co-op, but not at the expense of solo campaign

Despite giving the impression of a "more of the same" sequel prior to launch, RSV2 managed to win my heart in ways the first could never imagine. There are still a few problems, but overall the game is adequately polished and highly addictive.

A tactical shooter, by definition, is geared toward teamwork and strategy. It only seems natural that such a game should offer a truly superb cooperative experience and RSV2 does just that. Be it split-screen, co-op campaign, or even terrorist hunting, there is a heap of great team-oriented play to be had here.

The best part is that in delivering a co-op smorgasbord, RSV2 (unlike certain other co-op focused games) didn't sacrifice the single player campaign. With seven acts consisting of several scenes each, you've got hours and hours of solo play available as well. The scenes and environments, though not particularly unique to Las Vegas, are extremely detailed and offer wide variety. My favourite place involved an indoor rock-climbing facility- an extremely creative idea, in my opinion.

The pièce de résistance for me was the character development through experience. Your character, complete with the myriad of possible unique armour, clothing and weapon combinations, are persistent throughout any game mode- online or off.

For all its glory, though, the game is not entirely without flaws. As cool as most of the unlockables were, some just didn't make sense. Who thought that pink camouflage was a great idea for a high-level reward? The AI is also still more A than I, with terrorists stupidly running into your crosshairs despite how many already felt your wrath. Your teammates can also be complete dolts when it comes to ordering grenade tosses or staying within the cover of their own smoke.

In spite of these minor blemishes, the bigger picture of RSV2 is still quite magnificent. Online or off, there is enough replay value here to last a very long time. If you can only buy one shooter right now, this may be the one you want!

Vegas 1 is still the king.. but this one isn't too shabby...

I am close to a 1000/1000 score (less than 10K XP to go for elite) and I thought it would be a good time to review. Overall the two games are very similar. Graphics are slightly better in V2. I like the new XP system- ranking up to elite is much easier than V1 (more obtainable goals = more fun to play in my book). Villa is a great MP map. Also T-hunt seems more fun to me on V2 (albeit tougher AI). That is where it ends though. Vegas 1 had (hands down) a better story mode. The MP maps on V1 had a much more classic feel- better balanced. Fortunately Kill House and Streets made it to V2. I was going to buy V2 for a friend (uninitiated) as a birthday gift but now I am seriously considering V1 instead. It is just a better game. V2 is still a decent sequel though 4/5 stars for me. V1 gets 5/5.

Great Multi-Player.

I picked this game up a few weeks prior to GTA IV coming out. I really enjoyed it, and feel that the multi-player is really where this game excels. While I do enjoy Halo 3 for what it has done for the gaming community, I prefer "real" shooters to "futuristic" shooters. In other words, I enjoy shooting true-to-life weapons versus plasma alien rifles.

The single player, story mode is a short, but I can easily fill in the time with the multi-player and terrorist hunt modes. Clearly not as good as C.O.D. 4 - simply for the record.

As many others have mentioned, if you're looking for a "continuation" of the original Vegas story, then you might be disappointed. If you're looking for a solid XBox 360 shooter, this is where it's at. Worth the purchase.

Should have been called 'Rainbow 6 Vegas 1.5"

I was totally disappointed with the game especially after loving the first vegas. My problem with this sequel is that it played it too safe. There was not enough change to make it feel like a sequel. The gameplay is still a blast but it was just as fun two years ago so I felt like I was playing an older game. This is a bummer because games should make one feel like their playing something new even it it is similar. This game suffers from a lack of imagination. Even the story of the first game was better than this. Generally the game is enjoyable but definitely not worth $60. I would recommend waiting until this game is $20-30. Even the multi-player does not stand out out with games like Call of Duty 4 out there.

A resounding Meh

Single player was fun, but the multiplayer was a frustrating experience. I sold this game.

I was hoping for more. I was hoping this game would overtake CoD4 as the best multiplayer game, but it certainly didn't. I had fun with the single player, but I just couldn't get into the multiplayer. It was not worth $60.

Great stuff

This is a great game. The most amazing part of the game was definately the terrorist hunt. Playing the terrorist hunt in lone wolf mode was great especially when you play it with a friend. Great game and Ubisoft should just keep 'em coming!

Another really short first person shooter!

I like almost every thing in this game the weapons, scenarios, controls, and the characters, the only down size is the fact that the game could be ended in 6 to 8 hours with no hurry, so for the non on line player thats a huge down size even though I'll give four stars because I really like the game play.

Great if Flawed

The original Rainbow Six Vegas was a well constructed game, and very fun despite its few problems. So I was eagerly looking forward to the sequel. I was not disappointed.

The core of the gameplay remains the same. All the mechanics from the first game are in here as well. In fact, if you ignore the new features, it would feel as if you were playing the same game. Unfortunately, this means that you kept the downsides as well, but more on that in a minute. The added features come as a welcome addition. The ability to do a scan and see the position of bad guys occasionally is really nice. It adds another layers of strategy onto of a already strategic game. Also, the ability to throw either grenade without having to switch which is equipped is also a bonus. It allows you to think more tactically in a situation, and react with more options.

The AI is still a problem, both for you and for the bad guys. Even on the hardest difficulty, the enemy AI is both stupid and prescient. They react in the strangest ways, taking cover in areas that are completely open and acting spastic. At the same time, even if you do nothing, they know exactly where you are and their aim is unerring, which is a little annoying. And as bad as their AI is, your team AI is worse. At times it's like having to direct a band of retarded monkeys. They will often just stand getting shot at until you give them direction, not even bothering to get cover. When assaulting, they will move to their attack points, and stop. Their aim is as bad as your enemies, and you will find yourself having to do most of the heavy lifting.

The story itself is passable, and eventually picks up at the end of the first game, which is nice. It is still the standard, goofy FPS plot-line, but what can you expect.

Overall, this is a fun game to play, and worth both your money and your time.
