Terrible game physics, but you can't stop playing

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 1

When Genki set about making this game, they must have spent all of their time on incredible streaming graphics (60 frames per second!) and not a bit of time on realistic driving. The car has far too much drift, and even somebody who has never gone 150 miles per hour will still be able to tell that the handling's incredibly flawed. Not to mention the fact that hitting a wall head-first at top speed results only in bouncing backwards, the car unscathed. Still, the graphics are superb, and though they didn't actually name the cars for legal reasons, they are still real-life cars, and are statistically accurate. It's an incredibly addictive game, well worth the $... Amazon's charging.

The best game ever

Initial D!

Anyone who has seen the show Initial D automatically loves cars import cars and racing this game gave me all three not to mention that just about any car that was in the show is in this game. (I spent my time making a garage of Initial D cars) It's true there is only one track but with the possiblity of racing the inner or the outer both of which can be mirrored and unlocking the long track there is actually like six or seven and it takes forever to learn them well. The street racing is wonderfull you are always in a battle with the enemy it's always back and fourth but if you like blasting you opponents away finish the game and use the "Keep Garage" function to start all over with all your money and the cars you had before Racing around gaining more cash enables you to buy and customize other cars THERE is your replay value i've been playing it for like two months now and am starting to be good at drifting with Ore no FC karuma sugoy da ze Ureshi des. That is what i really like about the game you have the long straight-away track for the silly dragsters and then the curving turning inner loop for the awesome drift artists Good Game don't listen to the foolish Americans that tell you diffrent. I've even played GT3 and think this game has things it does better, that and an anolog gas and brake pedal don't hurt Stupid sony controlers

Great Replay View, Great Graphics and Better Than Turismo!

WOW! This game is really something. The gameplay of this is way better than Gran Turismo. What I mean Is that, the replay is awesome, the graphics is eye popping, and most of all it's really fun because it gets you right into the racing. It's like your on the cockpit riding on the freeway and your heart beat pumps up hella that you really want to win the Race.

One dimensional game with little intrigue

I found the control to be unresponsive, even after tweaking the settings. The graphics were dark and often confusing. There is only one course, the only option you have is which direction you got. The challenges and races were rather uninteresting. I doubt I'll be playing it very often.

This is racing at its lowest.

Honestly, who wants to drive the same EXACT track at night EVERY time you play it, and have it be a full game? That's gotta be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

great

Very stupid, look for something else

Tokyo Xtreme Racer's graphics are about the only thing good about this game. The stop-start gameplay is especially annoying. It is so boring and stupid, it has to be the WORST racing game to hit the Dreamcast. Skip this one, and take my advice. Look for Sega Rally 2, Speed Devils, TestDrive 6, anything but this.
