First of all I am not a fan of FPS (it makes me dizzy, sick and nauseous and I think the game play is overrated since all you do is look and shoot)
The reason why this game deserves special attention is the game plays well and the graphics are stunning. Other than that, it's pretty much like any FPS you've played ever since Doom (IMO FPS hasn't changed too much from Doom) There is a learning curve for those who have never played FPS or have not been playing for a while (I kinda wish it would aim like how it is on the PC or Wii), however you will get used to the controls. As far as game length, it can take a good 10-15 hours.
Recommended for fans of FPS. Please note that this game is intended for ages 17+. For those not into FPS I would consider this a rental.
Note: Only reason I bought this was there was a special on amazon and this was selling for $44.99, of course you won't see that price again for a while.

I've been a fan of the CoD franchise since I first parachuted into Normandy with the first game. And in both Infinity Ward-developed CoD titles, the single player experience has remained the paramount feature of the game. Yes, they're heavily scripted. Yes, they can be frustrating. But the overall experience was always far greater than the sum of its parts. It got to the point where Call of Duty was, in my mind, entirely about the solo campaign.
Well, as of now, that's gone. And the new reality is even better.
Yes, the single player campaign in CoD4 is excellent, if a bit overly frustrating. (For example, there are no sophisticated cover mechanics for the player, but the enemies can fire blindly with minimal exposure and incredible accuracy.) Also, the infinite spawning of bad guys has always bothered me. Tactical shooters should be about matching up against an enemy force and overcoming it, not running and being shot because the machinegunner you've killed 50 times keeps magically replacing himself. (To see what I consider sound "tactical" gameplay, see Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, another excellent game)
Despite this, the missions are often just fun. They're well-paced, varied in the types of engagements, and certain missions like "Death From Above" are just pure gamer candy.
But all this is a side show now. CoD4's multiplayer system is their masterpiece.
They took a seemingly simple, overdone product, the team-based military shooter, and imbued it with so many great ideas and refinements that it will push almost any other similar game into the resale pile. The level-up system, the challenges, and endlessly customizable perks do a great job of encouraging the player to try new things and step out of their comfort zone. Little things like the fact that you can now see enemy soldiers on the map when they fire their weapons, and the simple fact that your randomly assigned faction no longer limits your equipment do a lot to make the game more fun and less of a hassle.
For those of you who don't like the multiplayer thing, I was one of you. I came to the multiplayer with a lot of skepticism. Let me tell you, I don't even care about the single player campaign any more. The multiplayer is just brilliantly done. And the real benefit of this is that the game's value per dollar is FAR better this way than if it were bound to the relatively short single player campaign.
Loved it, want more

This is one of those rare games that I found challenging, addictive, and
not nearly long enough. The in-game saves are frequent enough to really
reduce frustration (I got killed a lot, but I got to move forward without
BIG setbacks), and the controls are also wonderfully easy to use (snap aim,
etc.)
Insane Combat!

I'm not really a fan of first person shooter, but this game, I just can't seem to put it down. Excellent game, great graphics and gameplay. The only minor issue is the limited online battle stages, as well as regular game play. It could have been a little longer. Then again maybe that has something to contribute to the replay factor, which is really great. I have replayed the story mode at least 4 times now!
Awesome!!

This game is amazing. The only problem is my wife complaining that I spend more time in front of the TV now...
It is so fast and the image is so good, that sometimes I got dizzy with so much images and details in the screen.
I recommend it to all lovers of action games.

This is the best 1st person shooter on PS3 hands down!!! Wells as for graphics they are one of the best out there. The controls are really good too. As for gameplay,I'm in the marines and this game is really accurate in war.I mean you could probally get PTSD from playing this game. The 1 player game and story is great.Only downside its really short. But that is playing on normal. If you put it on veteran then you have some work to do.The multiplayer is the best next to Halo.It is more real then Halo as for a shooter.Online, you rank up aand gain XP points and unlock different weapons and also you can create your own custom class by what weapons and what perks you want to use.Online gaming is where it is at.Highly recommend this product to anyone who likes FPS and is a video game fan.
