I really liked this game, but I would have liked it more if it was not so short. I beat it in a day. Graphics are very realistic, however the game would have been more fun if the backgrounds were more interactive like in Black for the PS2. I was hoping to destroy most everything I saw. It's a different game than previous COD'S but vastly better. My only other small gripe is I wanted to see another nuke explosion when the timer ran out. All we get is time's up. I'm sure there is more than enough room on a PS3 disc to have seen huge nuclear explosions. Still, the first nuke explosion was very satisfying graphically. It rocked. Maybe in the next COD we can use a few nukes against the bad guys. That would rule!
Possibly the best video game I've ever played

I've owned many game consoles since the first Nintendo, and Call of Duty 4 is quite possibly the best video game I've ever played. COD4 is so real, it's unreal. I have my PS3 hooked up to a fairly new, but standard 430i TV, and the graphics are amazing. I can only imagine what this game must look like on a full HDTV. The action is intense. The story is true to the times, which makes it somewhat eerie to play as well. I was reluctant to buy this game at first, mainly because all the FPS war games lately have become mundane and formulaic. COD4 breaks the mold.

Probably the best first person shooter in the military aspect I have played so far in my life. Single player mode is really a lot of fun. The levels always have a different objective and plus it switches from the British S.A.S. and the USMC. Online play has got to be the greatest. There are so many different categories to pick from you won't get bored. The only problem with online play sometimes you will be waiting for a while to join a game. You can't just piggy back off one already in progress. overall really great game
A MASTERPIECE that will NOT be matched for a long time!

Everything you have read about this game is true. It is simply an experience that you will NOT forget. The intensity, the gameplay, all come together in an immersive experience that no other FPS has offered in a VERY long time. The only other title that comes close is Half-Life 2, but this game takes it up another notch. BOTH the campaign mode AND online multiplayer are superb!
This game is a "MUST-PLAY" if you have any interest at all in FPS titles. Do yourself a favor and pick this up NOW!!!
Excellent in every way but one....

Graphics, story line, adrenaline rush, and more makes this an AWESOME game! the down part: TOO SHORT! I mean, earlier versions of Medal of Honor seem to last forever making them very dramatic but Call Of Duty 4's story line falls a bit short. But it is still a great game and worth playing.
Very Good Shooting Game

One of the best first person shooting games I've played in a while. The single player game play is pretty intense. Feels like you are in an actual war-zone. The graphics are amazing and the different gun selections are fantastic.
Online play is awesome as well.
Only thing I would improve with the game is that when you take cover behind an object, you don't have the ability to peak over a corner. You have to stand straight up or walk over (leaving you totally vulnerable). Meanwhile the terrorists and your computer allies peak corners all the time.
Other than that, great game and fun as hell!
Not bad, but not great

Well, I have to agree with the other reviewer Mr. Liam Craig here....
While I DO like this game, the graphics are quite nice, and it's a fun game for a while, but the overall game play is a bit one-sided and unrealistic, and the term "one sided" being in favor of the enemies. It does feature some realism, like cars blowing up while you're trying to hide behind them (nice touch), but, you find yourself sometimes going up against TONS of bad guys with literally no end in sight. I mean, shooting at 90 bad guys in one room is a bit of a reach, and they just keep coming!!! Same with some of the other levels. I found some areas incredibly hard, while other areas, were very easy. Sometimes you're killed and you don't even know why, who did it, or where it came from!!!
There is one area where you have to reach a helicopter at the "LZ", and you have 3 minutes to do so.....Well, that's all fine and dandy, and you even have air support to do it.....EVEN BETTER! Well, what I found totally stupid was, when you call for air support, tons of bombs are being dropped right on TOP of the bad guys, yet, 79 bad guys are still running around!!! COME OOOOOOOONNNN!!!!!! Are you kidding me?????? Or the bombs miss the bad guys entirely, and hit YOU!!! And this entire review was based on the EASIEST SETTING!
Now, as much as I found some of the bits of this game V-E-R-Y unrealistic, I suppose it's got it's "fun factor", and it did have some great moments, but, I still find myself going back to my old favorites: Sniper Elite, and the SOCOM series I, II, 3 & 4 for my military gaming fun. They're still better and (to me) they offer more realism than this game offers!
PROS: I love that you can use walls, cars, buildings, for cover, shooting through wood crates & thin metal walls to kill a person (which is very realistic), the ability to throw grenades back to the bad guys, the weapons are quite realistic, sniping is fun...etc...
CONS: Many areas could have been improved on. Way too many bad guys in many areas, certain sections were just way too hard, yet, others were quite easy. If you set a game on "Easy" or "Hard" it should be the same throughout the entire game. Not INCREDIBLY hard, and easy at the same time.
Now, I can not review the online game play, since I do not use any of my PS systems for online play, (I just don't have the time) hehe
I would however, like to see a new PS3 version of SOCOM (please!) and bring back the "blood", please!!!!!! I guess until that happens, I'll keep playing my original SOCOM games for my military game addiction.....I guess I really love the slow, stealthiness, that you need in SOCOM, to complete missions. Maybe, this game is a bit too fast paced for me? Who knows....
Again, this was a fun & decent game, worth the money, great graphics, some areas were awesome, some areas were realistic, and some were definitely NOT! Really good game overall, but on the easiest setting, this game should not have been this hard to beat. However, even with all the things I did not like about it, I do feel that it was worth the money, and it's still a fun game to play, but I feel that it could have been improved upon a bit more before it was released.
Just my .02c worth!
On line is amazing

The pq of this game on my Sony 52" XBR is truly amazing. It feels like you're actually in the action and it's probably the best FPS I've ever played.
Just Awesome

This game is easily the best shooter game released in '07. The single player campaign is set up nicely and very fun to play. The online, is the best part though. The online system is set up so that if your good at these types of games you will do well, but if you are still new to shooters, you can still get kills. The control scheme has been tweaked a little, but it works very well in the campaign and online. All in all, this is a great game and I highly recommend purchasing it.

I have been playing video games for about 20 years and this is one of the best I have ever played. The graphics are amazing and the fact that its takes place in modern day is a huge improvement over the previous Call of Duty games. Every mission is a lot of fun and the multiplayer is addictive. The game is in 1080p and looked amazing on my 1080p LCD. I highly recommend it.
