This is the best COD yet, the single player campaign will blow you away and then the multiplayer is HOURS of endless fun. I combined this with a SplitFish Fragfx mouse controller for PS3 for the best PC-like gaming experience.
Shock an awe

Once I started playing this game I couldn't stop, It makes you feel like your in the fight of your life with true action all around. Having all the modern weapons helps too. If your playing this game on your home theater crank it up and you'll find out what fighting in a war is really about.
best action game of the year

This is the best game I have played so far for the ps3. But I only wish there were more missions.
PS. I recommend you try Drakes Uncharted Fortune if you like this

Game play is very nice in the game. Excellent FPS. Playing through the single player stories is a lot of fun and follows a story line, while online game play allows for limitless fun. Good online game rankings, progression, and unlockable abilities and weapons.
1080p Graphics, Weapons Variety, Interesting but Short Campaign

Game was purchased to test the new 1080p HDTV and 7.1 audio system and did not disappoint, in terms of graphics and sound. Full HD resolution and immersing sound puts one right in the middle of the constant action. Weapons variety is abundant with the 40mm and 105mm cannons from the C-130 being the ultimate fun. However, simple player movement constraints such as duck-and-shoot overhead or hide-and-shoot around wall is strangely lacking for a FPS game developed for the PS3. The campaign mode is also extremely short and can be completed in 1 afternoon. The developers may have foreseen this shortcoming and included an "arcade-style" mode but even that gets boring. Anxiously awaiting SOCOM - Confrontation to be released at this time.
AWSOME!

Call of Duty 4 is one of those games that quite literaly immerses you in its world. Simply put, this one of the best games I've played. Ever.
The game sets itself apart from others of its kind by putting the player in a Modern Enviroment as opposed to its many competitors that revolve around WWII. The advantage of this of course, is that you now have an entire arsenal of modern weaponry at your disposal. The playing enviroment also reflects modern political events (most of it takes place in the middle east).
The best way I can describe the action of this game is this: imagine that your are put smack in the middle of the movie Black Hawk Down. The ground battles are incredible. I have never been in real battle but I would have to imagine it's close to what you feel in the game. Bullets buzzing past you, throwing back enemy granades, avoiding claymore traps, snipers on the rooftops, shooting down helicopters and destroying tanks. It's all part of the experience. Sometime the battles get so intense it's almost scary how invilved you get with the game.
The graphics of course are awsome.
The only problem with this game is that its too short!!! I know there has been a lot of debate on previous reviews about the lenght of the game. Some feel its just right while others feel its too short. But I have to put it in perspective: I'm married. I don't many hours at a time to play games ( although I would love to have it). I finished this game in four sittings. Not long 5 hour-plus sittings. The longest one was probably 3 hours at best and it was all over.
That my friends, is too short.
You have to compare it to similar games and when I do that and add how long ot took me to finish it, I must conclude its waay too short. CoD 5 should be longer.
Of course, you can keep playing online which is tons of fun in itself but obviously its not the same as following a story. I'm not saying playing the story is more fun than playing online. They are two very distinct experiences which are equally fun. Its just that the game lacks balance in that respect. If it were a bit longer, I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4.
plain and simple the best game humankind has ever made

I'm not going to write a novel like the people below me, i'm just gonna give it to you straight. this is the best game on the market right now. although the single player is a little on the short side, it is still as epic as the halo series. multiplayer is the best on playstation 3. buy this game, you won't regret it.
Best PS3 Game so far

Being a PS3 enthusiast I was looking forward to getting this game since it was announced. Boy did it deliver! Graphics are by far the best of any FPS I have played on a console. Story is very engaging and fun to play, specially when you get to the Chernobyl sniper stage. You will not be disapointed. Multiplayer option is amazingly deep, making you always want to go for the next rank and new challenges. A must buy!!
Good graphics, good gamplay, good replay value, Overall GREAT GAME!

Call of Duty 4 has great graphics, not quite the full potential of the ps3 but certainly as good as what the 360 would have to offer. It has some of the coolest story line effects(NUKES) that I've ever seen in a fps. I haven't tried the online multiplayer yet but I would expect it's good too. The split-screen multiplayer is very fun, offering the ability to call in air strikes and attack helicopters. Overall this game ranks just as good as the other Infinity Ward made Call of Duties for the PC. 4 out of 5
