Let's put it this way - I am an anime/game fan. For Christmas, I recieved this game due to the anime-inspired cover. I was going to return it, but low and behold, my stupid brother OPENED the box! Now stuck with the stupid game, I decided to attempt to play it.
Having never played a card game in my life (no, not even pokemon) i was more than confused. The instruction manual doesn't help much either. The cards you have are WAY below the challengers at the beginning of the game. So what's a girl to do but go online and find codes for powerful cards?
So after about 2 hours of inputting codes, I have some really strong cards. The catch? I still can't win. I am so utterly confused I always lose, even when I'm up about 4000 life points. It's frustrating, and makes me want to murder my brother for leaving me STUCK with this horrible game.
Graphics are terrible. Just cards, and character portraits. BORING.
Music is even worse. Being a nostalgic gamer, the midis are a bit.. err.. enjoyable. (The first Mario's theme rocks!) But this is the worst I've heard. Bland, reptitive, and sleep inducing. (In a bad way, don't relax to this!)
Kids that play the game will love this, because appearently, it is exactly like the card game. If you parents want to further your kiddie's Yu-gi-oh! fandom, get Shounen Jump, which serializes the manga a.k.a. comic book.
For casual gamers, RUN. RUN AWAY, and pity me. Then help me plot the demise of my brother and his Dragonball Z stuff. Then get/watch NARUTO. That is true action and story!
Terrible game

PARENTS PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE watch this show with your kids before purchasing these or any other items related to Yu-Gi-Oh. I was shocked to discover just exactly what this show was when I watched it with my children. It is NOT a harmless copy of Pokemon. The characters and settings of this cartoon strongly resemble satainistic and black magic icons. I am not a strongly religious person, but I can not and will not allow this in my house.
Please parents, before you buy these for your kids watch this show to decide whether or not you feel it is right for your children.

The truth is plane and simple, it's not the best game but it is an addictive game. I was desappointed to see no real battle animation, but it does have a feel to the original trading card game. It does get boring, doing the samethings over and over again, but for a kid i guess it's an ok game. There are better games out there such as Metroid Fusion and Megaman Zero, but eternal soul is not half bad give it a try.

A while ago I submitted a review stating how fun it is.I had rated it 5 stars. Now I would like to take that back. This game gets EXTREMELY repetitive after a little while. All you do is chose someone to duel, pick rock, paper or scissors(to see who goes first),and duel them.It doesn't even matter if you win or lose, you just get a thing next to the person's name saying how many times you've won and lost, and when you win,you get a pack of cards. The few plus sides to this game are 1.The graphics are good 2.You have a decent deck capacity(60 cards as opposed to Sacred Cards' 40) 3.If you have good cards out here, you can get them in the game(via the password machine).I will give Konami credit for what I've listed, but I otherwise think you should spend your money on a better game, like Sacred Cards.I too am a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan and I know there are some people out there who would like this type of game, and to them I say go for it,but to others,I give a warning:DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!I would also recomend that true Yu-Gi-Oh! fans look into the graphic novels.
Good but not Great

i bought this game pretty soon after it came out being a fan of the show i thought why not???? i was soon disappointed though yeah i'm sure the rules are all the same as the show but talk about being thrown in at the deep end. you are given a deck by some guy and that's it, work the rest out yourself.
my advice is if you're a mega fan of the show then you should pick it up but if like me you're not then it might be worth a miss
