Great game translation of the original card game..

I just barely started playing the card game against my little cousins who got me into it. Well, you know kids, they sometimes make up their own rules cause they can't rad all the directions. I tried myself and while you can get the gist of it, you can't remember everything all at once or see the finer points to the rules. Well, I broke down and decided to buy this game for my GBA which was just gathering dust from no use. This game faithfully recreates the duel monsters game to a tee. It's fun and passes time really fast because you become so engaged into it. I play this game whenever I have to run on the treadmill for 40 minutes. By the time you finish two duels, the 40 minutes are up and you wonder what happened to the time cause it went by so fast. Anyways, Eternal Duelist Soul has some great features like being able to use a side deck in between duel matches to alter your deck. You can trade cards between friends. You play against the CPU to get new cards from booster packs. What's great is that you can input the passwords on the botton of your real cards into the GBA and get cards that was as well. That was a really nifty feature as you can start out with a powerful deck you may have built already in real life instead of starting out with a brand new deck. The game follows the rules pretty much as you must pay tributes when summoning higher level monsters. Chains using traps and magic cards are also done nicely. YOu can learn the game much faster playing this GBA game than playing for real in my opinion. Even dice rolls have been incorporated into the game as you get three included game cards that use dice that you can input the password into the game. If I have only one thing to complain about, it's that when the cpu uses a magic or trap card, you can't select an option to view what it does till after it takes action. So, if you're unfamiliar with a new card, you might not know if you have a trap or magic card to counter it till its too late. So, I still recommend familiarizing yourself with as many of the cards as you can.
Despite that, I still think this is a fun and challenging card game conversion. I'd rather play this game head to head against someone than using cards. You get the benefit of using the same cards you do in real life but with more options and the GBA automatically computes damage for you so you don't have to slow down figuring out who did what to whom. Oh, one last thing. In terms of password input, as far as I can tell, you can input the codes from the Blue Eyes, Magic Ruler, and Metal Raiders booster pack but not from the newer Pharoah one's. Guess they were too new to be included in the game. Have fun. IT'S TIME TO DUEL!

I assembled a list of the good things in this game and the bad things.

Good:

You get to duel Yugi, Tristan, Tea, Bakura, and Joey. Later, you can also battle other duelists.

You can enter in the codes on the bottom of your cards to get them in the game. You can also search "Yu-Gi-Oh Eternal Duelist Soul" on AOL and get a list of every code for every card.

You can go on to different rounds by deafeating people a certain amount of times.

You can get booster packs with rare cards in them!

They make some stupid moves, so you can win and lose the same amount of times.

You can trade cards and battle with people with a GBA cord.

If you play a field card, the backround will turn that color to help you to identify the field.

Bad:

If you're in the middle of a game, you can't save the game.

The music is okay, but after a while, it gets annoying.

Sometimes, there will be a tourtament where you battle someone. But, if you happen to shut off the game in the middle, you can't battlepeople until you complete the tourtament.

Thanks for reading!!! :)

all the rivals all the cards

This game is so cool!!! What I mean by all the rivals is that level 1 has: yugi mutou, tea gardener, tristan taylor, joey wheeler, and bakura ryou, level 2 has:espa roba, mako tsunami, wevill underwood, rex raptor, and mai valentine, level 3 has:rare hunter, arkaina, umbra and lumis, marik ishtar (in person),and strings, level 4 has: seto kaiba, ishizu ishtar (mariks sister), shadi, yami bakura, and yami yugi, well level 4 is all that I have gotten up to even though in stuck on level 4 I'm not stuck with this review your knowledge of this game must go on...
to get to level 2 beat all level 1 characters 2 times to get to level 3 defeat all level 2 characters 3 times to get to level 4 defeat all level 3 characters 4 times to get to level 5 defeat all level 4 characters 5 times now this I learned in a magazine on level 5 defeat Simon once to get to grandpa. Now when I said all the cards I meant 1. It comes with 3 free ultra rare cards 1.skull dice 2.graceful dice 3.exchange, I think that's a good addition to your collection, no. 2 why I said it has all the cards is cause you have little numbers at the bottom left corner of your cards if you ever have noticed, it has the word password on the bottom if you have yugioh cards then you can scroll down and press password all the way at the bottom and press A screen of numbers will come up use the arrows to scroll down and to go across when you reach the number you want press A keep doing this till you cracked the code of the card.
Here are some useful codes

This game rocks! The graphics are unbeleivable. Also the opponents are great. Also when you win a duel instead of getting 1 card, you get a whole pack[5 cards.]The more duels you win the more packs you chose from.Alltogether there are over 12 packs. Each stage has 5 duelists and to advance you have to win a varied amount of duels.Plus you run on a timeline and you can get 2 different magazines by winning the duel on the day it's on sale. Also there are 2 tournaments each month, where you face 1 opponent in match form. Also in the beggining you chose from 3 decks. There is no deck capacity and your regular deck can be from 40 to 60 cards. You also add on your fusion deck[20 cards]and your side deck[15 cards.]Also the password mode is upgraded and all the cards have the same exact words and pictures on them from their real life form. The only flaw is that the game sticks to all the rules,so a begginer would be struggling, but someone on a higher level than that would love it.

I only bought the Gameboy Advance JUST FOR THIS GAME. I learned how to play Yu-Gi-Oh from this game, now I've never been beaten, In real life and the game. I first played this game at a friend's and I like it sooo much. I love that there's cards on the game that haven't been released in real life, so I can be prepared to know good cards that will soon be out. I liked the cards that came in the game, too. The last rounds has to be the best, obviously the hardest though. Buy the game, you'll love it. Thumbs-up to Konami!
